The fun, funky vibes of a Boston or New York hotel in the Massachusetts suburbs. This was the perfect hotel for checking out local colleges. You are centrally located to Boston and that northern Massachusetts/southern NH region where they basically keep all of the colleges and universities. My kids loved the unique rooms at Aloft, the pool, pool table, lounge, and indoor/outdoor space. I appreciated the value, friendly staff, and especially the well-stocked bar (after a week of pricing colleges, a cocktail was a welcome touch).
My wife and I stayed at Aloft Lexington this past week for work. The rooms are clean and modern and the service was fantastic. It has a lively bar, free coffee in the mornings, and great on-the-go breakfast food. There are plenty of restaurants 2 miles away on Massachusetts Ave. It really made our stay enjoyable and we'll be staying there again next year.
Positive: Loved that set up of the room- the bed faced the windows, good workspace, nice design. We got to play a couple of games of pool in the lobby. Fitness center had what we needed to get a little workout in. Staff was pleasant & helpful. Negative: ""
Not sutable for corporate travelers. Bedroom does not have a work light. There is a desk but no desk light. The dim room lights are suitable for watching TV but not to work.
Hotel is lovely and very clean. When I came into the lobby to check in I went up to the front desk, a young Asian man was sitting on a sofa on his phone, after a moment I cleared my throat so he would hear me. He acted as if I had interrupted him. He was very stoic. He only gave me one key I had to ask for a second. He was not forthcoming with any information, I had to drag it out of him. My only concern with cleanliness what's the lack of a liner in my ice bucket. There was only one face towel in my room. The electric Outlets are not at a convenient level, you have to get down practically on your knees to use them. It was advertised that there was a restaurant in the hotel. There was none. The hotel itself was very nice. Service however, was greatly lacking. Also no ice machine bottled water was not left in my room as stated. No where to hang towels except over the toilet. Sliding door to bathroom gets stuck. Light out over the bed. A plastic bag of linen was left in the hall near the elevator for 2 days. The staff at the front desk the 2nd day were much nicer that the young man at check in. Mario's restaurant in Lexington however was awesome! We found it on our own after the front desk suggested Domino's. It was only a few minutes from the hotel.
I recently stayed at the Aloft in Lexington, MA for a work trip, and it will definitely be my last visit to this hotel. Upon checking into my room, I noticed it was not up to standard, especially for someone like me who’s quite particular about cleanliness.
My first concern was the state of the bedsheets. When I pulled back the covers, I discovered a large stain right in the middle of the bed. To my dismay, the stain was on the mattress protector beneath the sheets. It was clear that the previous guests had left something unpleasant behind—let’s just say it was a very unsanitary situation. The fact that the mattress protector wasn’t changed before my stay was simply unacceptable.
I requested a room change at the front desk and was moved, but unfortunately, the new room was only marginally better. The paint was peeling and cracking, and I discovered ants the day before checkout. Additionally, the bathroom sink would clog every time I used it, and the shower faucet handle kept falling off because of a missing screw. While I managed to make do by adjusting the faucet carefully and accepting the less-than-ideal conditions, the overall experience was frustrating.
To make matters worse, while chatting with colleagues in the lobby, one mentioned she too had to switch rooms due to an issue with bed cleanliness. When I learned she had been placed in the same room I had initially been given, I was appalled because the hotel staff still had not changed the sheets. It was evident that the room hadn’t been properly cleaned or inspected.
In summary, my experience at Aloft Lexington was disappointing, and I strongly recommend seeking alternative accommodations in the area.
Several issues in the room upon checking in:
-Malfunctioning window shade
-Desk lamp missing shade
-Light bulb out in light on the headboard
-No ice machine on the premises
-Loud running toilet all night
-Mini fridge was loud and super noisy
-Poor communication amongst staff
Maintenance worker was in my room for about an hour (give or take) trying to fix the window shade and repairing the entire light fixture on the headboard.
There was no other room I could move to due to being at max capacity (allegedly).
Overall, not a good Marriott experience for me.
The hotel was okay. The bed was nice but everything else wasn't great. The shower was lukewarm and impossible to turn on without being in the shower and being hit by frozen water, and no place to hang towel so you need to soak the floor, also has a weird frosted window into the bathroom from the room. The chair and floor had a bunch of stains and there wasn't any soap holder. Also annoying to have a room next to the elevator. I wasn't expecting free breakfast exactly as it isn't a cheap hotel but I'm not paying 4$ for a small bagel at a hotel when j can get a nice one for cheaper at the dunkin across the street
