Best WLM Reviews

Huge room, great location, comfy bed, quiet, fun bar area, free parking - what a great hotel! |We knew it was close to DPAC and got a room for the night of the show, but didn’t realize it was so very close — and how nice it was to look out our window to see when they opened the doors and to be able to relax right up until the performance. Had never visited Durham before and enjoyed a walk along Tobacco Road and its water feature, etc. the hotel itself was much nicer than we expected - from the lobby to the service to the room and the bed, top notch. A fun little weekend getaway from Charlotte.
Eli and his staff were all amazing. This Marriott is one of the fancier ones I've been to. The lobby itself is a lounge, pool table, bar, restaurant. Pool and fitness center is on the second and third floor and beautiful view of downtown and the bulls stadium from the pool. I only wish I could've stayed longer. The rooms are beautifully set up. A must if you're visiting Durham. Tell Eli I said hello ????
Do you like dance music? This is the place to stay, you can hear pounding base and music to 12:30 on a Thursday night courtesy of the sport bar located next door. Do not stay here if you value a good night sleep. Staff and rooms were great. I value sleep over those two things.
Updating due to the hotel's reply. Let me be very clear, we had no problem paying for the room at the non-discount rate which is what happened anyways. It was the behavior and the treatment of a customer that disgusted us to the point to even write a review. No human being should have to be treated that way or talked to in such a manner. She needs to be fired and trust me, I will go back and forth on this because that is how wrong it was and she was. Fyi, if you checked your facts, you would see I am elite status with more than enough points that if I really did not want to use money for this stay, I would have just used my points and now I wish I did due to the experience. Also, it is not our fault that the EID system is down and has been for the last few weeks. But again, none of that mattered to her because she has zero customer service skills.
The worst experience ever, all because of an associate that works the front desk that was rude, condescending, unwilling to help, quite honestly Jolene was a complete embarrassment to the Marriott brand. I warn you not to stay at this property ever and if you do make sure you do NOT check in when she is on site.
Hotel front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Issues experienced during our stay included:
(1) Our chief complaint is that our bed sheets were dirty and wrinkled with fresh stains on them (looked to be blood or make-up). It was very apparent that the sheets had not been changed following the prior guest’s stay. I requested and was brought clean sheets but had to change the bed myself. (2) The toilet would not flush but was fixed rather quickly upon being reported. (3) The TV stopped working sometime before midnight and despite being reported was not restored during our stay.
It took a week and a total of 6 contacts before the Assistant General Manager responded. He expressed absolutely no empathy and gave no apology but did state he would credit 5000 points.
Nice hotel but I wouldn't stay there again. Housekeeping came to clean the room hours before checkout. No one should be knocking on my door until 12 pm.
Recently remodeled. Liked it better before. TVs in room had very very limited channels which were incredibly slow to load. No apps and no ability to connect external devices to watch Amazon, Netflix, etc. Was stuck watching one of 12 channels during stay. My room had no hand towels or hand soap. Offered complimentary water bottle for the first night despite my 5 day stay. Location is perfect. Bar stays open late. Breakfast sandwiches are delicious.
A nice hotel in a loud area but that's not the hotels fault. Pool and gym facilities are a bit small.
Staff were very attentive and welcomed me in everyday, the only thing being that they didn't replace the water in the room despite being there for 2 weeks.
