Tried out this little BBQ joint. It was pretty good, but the portions on the meat were pretty small. The chicken fried steak was okay. Wasn't the best in the world but edible. The service was awesome and the restaurant had lots of cool memorabilia. See pictures. Baked potatoe was great..HUGE..overall a good experience. Might go again. God bless.
OK I Like to be truthful as I was told one time I spend too much time tasting my food!That being said...ti the point..atmosphere great,service friendly etc great the food was Grease City! This was my 3rd stop in approx.5 weeks I'm a Truck driver so first time The sides were good potato salad,pinto beans,beans are beans a little bacon wouldn't hurt but whatever and I got a chopped brisket sandwich and I get the bbq sauce on the side so first bite ok add sauce ok and after that the bun was grease soaked and flavorless so I tossed the bun soaked the grease from the brisket and ate what I could ok yesterday 11/13/24 I repeated the same and it was the exactly like the first time...so I was laid over and said come on what's up?! I order the loaded bajed potato with brisket cheese bacon bits etc.....well I am now roughly 3.5 hours passed that slippery grease experience and it sucked the meat was lots of fat and total grease grease grease with no flavor at all....I frequent "smokehouses" some are dry ad can be some are grease as can be few have it down....I won't say my favorite out of respect hoping Alma figures it out less fat less grease!?! I been to smoke houses where they ask if you want fat?.. but that's a request to be asked not expected.....If you go to ASH It's greasy....
Pulled pork and the brisket was very good. Ribs were good. beans and rice were perfect. But that peach cobbler was very tasty ????
Meh. Meat flavorless and very wet. Bread could be toasted. Mac and cheese is like it comes out of a frozen bag and is boiled. Had to cover in bbq sauce for a little flavor.
As I travel around Texas, I will frequently stop in little restaurants next to gas stations for BBQ and I’m often glad. This was place was average. Maybe the burgers are great, I don’t know. The brisket had good flavor and bark but was dry, even at 11am. The potato salad and cole slaw tasted like it was scooped out of a sysco’s food bucket and the sausage was a bland as grocery store sale weinners . The service was good and the vibe was comfortable but the smoker outside suggested a better experience.
Ordered a sliced brisket sandwich with fries not worth the money sandwich was small and fries over cooked and a piece of sausage for $3 only 2 bites and waited a while had to go back inside for pickles and onions wont be going back
Walking distance from the loves truckstop just under the other side of the freeway absolutely fantastic ribs. I tried without putting sauce on them first and then the sauce was just the finishing touch really really good. I also recommend the mac & cheese, just the way I like it rich, creamy and cheesy, I will say that I have had better mashed potatoes and gravy, but that’s just my opinion. I would say a definite thumbs up and I will be returning to this place yet again. ????????
Small town basic BBQ place that hit the spot while traveling through. BBQ was better than I expected. Usually restaurants that take the time to do breakfast, or other non BBQ dishes lose out a bit on BBQ quality. Brisket was good, smaller smoke ring, still a bit moist, although looks like it may not be cut to order. Rub was good a bit to the salty side if that's your taste. Pulled pork was soft, mild flavor, and not greasy very pleasant. Mac and cheese was decent noodles were perfect slightly al dente. (I hate squishy noodles) Good basic mustard potato salad. The banana pudding stole the show. They really have it dialed in. It's not heavy, light an airy Good mix of pudding and whipped cream in it. Glad I stopped in the people were nice service was good.
