I visited this location for my child's two-month vaccination since the Redmond site didn't have it. The first appointment was a bit challenging, with a delay and the assigned room feeling like a storage space. The second appointment, a two-month wellness checkup, was on time and went smoothly. However, I noticed the nurses didn't wear gloves while handling my baby, and even the doctor didn't have gloves but did sanitize hands (Doc was good & listened to our concern) In terms of cleanliness and hygiene, this location differs significantly from the Redmond site, which is consistently well-maintained.
I would definitely not recommend neither here nor the Bothell location.
1. Doctor quality and empathy: Four days after our child was born, we saw Dr Palomino because the hospital wanted a pediatrician’s opinion on baby’s weight loss (11%). The baby was born full term at over 8lbs. She called it a “crisis situation” thereby inciting anxiety and panic in us new parents and in our presence started force feeding the baby formula till he started choking while spitting out and coughing, clearly in distress. She refused to educate on how much weight was expected over time.
We would later learn from other practitioners and parents that her approach was extremely exaggerated, with newborns of course expected to lose weight in the first few days as they feed on colostrum. While the guideline is 10%, it’s typically tracked closer to the 2 week mark. The next day we came in and she acted all calm and smiley saying it wasn’t a big deal afterall. She lacked empathy and had very questionable practice.
2. Money hungry: the doctor told us to come back the next day for a weight check. Basically they would weigh the baby to see how much he gained. Even when the next day, he was fine- gained 100g against the apparently expected 30g, they still said we should come in for a weight check “out of caution”. We received a bill from Allegro trying to charge these as a regular office visit
3. Professionalism: Lisa from the billing office is hands down the rudest customer service person I’ve ever encountered. From raising her voice, talking over myself a parent and the insurance professional and snide comments, it was a disappointing encounter
My family has gone to this location for 20 years. The advice, guidance and referrals we've received has been top-notch. We love Dr. Wu and Dr. B!
The staff was very nice with my kid making her feel more confident. They explained us everything they were doing.
As a parent, the health and well-being of my child is paramount. This is why I chose Allegro Pediatrics, trusting in the reputation of their medical staff for excellence.
The reason for the 1 star is related to the scheduling system for urgent care.
Attempting to secure an urgent care appointment for my child has been nothing short of a nightmare. The system seems ill-equipped to handle demand, leaving families in distress without a lifeline. I found myself, staying up until midnight, hoping to catch an opening as it became available, only to be met with a persistently unavailable status on their webpage.
What exacerbates this situation is the lack of information or explanation as to why no slots are available, leaving parents in a limbo of uncertainty and worry.
If you are a parent looking for a reliable service I recommend you do it elsewhere.
Convenient locations for getting appointments but their scheduling and portal are an absolute nightmare. Office and support staff are generally polite and helpful but never able to resolve my issues.
I cannot recommend Allegro pediatrics enough. This health system is absolutely fantastic and take excellent care of my little one. We have always been seen promptly in situations outside of the typical well child appointments. Our usual location is Redmond Ridge but we have had a few appointments at this location and were very pleased with our experience. Excellent & competent staff- especially physicians. Dr.Palomino is phenomenal, highly recommend having her as your child’s primary.
Love my boys peds doctor.
My complaint is against the billing department. This is my second negative encounter with the gal over the phone and her treatment of clients is unacceptable.
I understand insurance billing very well as I work in healthcare/billing. I left a VM with the billing department this morning letting them know that my sons insurance issue was fixed and that they can resubmit the claim (UH missed enrolling 1/2 sons during open enrollment when the company switch health insurance providers Oct 2023) which I found out when I received a 450+ bill from Allegro from my sons visit in Feb 1st (the son who was missed). Of course that’s a huge issue and the original gal I spoke to in the billing department was great and told me not to worry and to contact my husbands employer/UH to fix it and they can resubmit the visit once it was all fixed etc etc (even though I knew how to fix it —it was awesome she was giving me all the pointers). Fast forwards to March 2024 my husband has since left that job so the end of Feb 2024 was the last month they were covered under that plan but UH added my son an did a retroactive enrollment so by resubmitting the claim under that insurance it will all go through and Allegro can get paid!! But NO. The gal at the billing dept (the one I have a complaint against who’ve I’ve spoken to regarding another billing issues with my other son late last year 2023) basically told me he is no longer active in that plan and that she checked that this morning before calling me and I replied that —that is correct. He is no longer ACTIVE for the month of March on that insurance nor will he be active moving forward but that he was RETROACTIVELY enrolled so the visit in Feb will be covered/approved as it was UH mistake they missed enrolling him. She then basically told me there was nothing that they can do, kept repeating he wasn’t active & that I need to call her back with his new insurance card so she can resubmit. I kept explaining to her that I won’t be receiving a new insurance card. I explained that the insurances missed enrolling 1/2 of my kids and to just resubmit it. But she was DISMISSIVE and kept trying to make me get off the phone by telling me to wait for my new insurance card and told me to have a great or good day and hung up.
All I want is for my bill to be fixed and for allegro to get paid. So imagine how I feel when I call to let you guys know things are fixed on my end and I get an argumentative, dismissive and unhelpful person who tells me to have a nice or great day before hanging up it makes me so upset. Can I get someone who is actually trying to help me fix this & call me back?
I understand this is confusing and a lot but it was an accident my oldest son was missed and we never had a clue bc my newborn was getting all his visit covered through UH without a problem and my oldest son (the one who the issue is for) is only seen once a year for a wellness check.
