Allegheny General Hospital

Visited the Emergency room today at AGH on the northside due to a cough, chills and after getting checked in ( The man at the front desk never told me to pull my mask up)the RN nurse who’s said her name is Pam stated very rudely “you need to pull your mask over your nose” I asked her why? ( mind you mask are no longer mandated in the hospital) I had it on only to cover my cough she said because we will be testing you for Covid I told her multiple times I can’t breath with it over my nose and I don’t need to pull it over my nose after telling her that like 4 times I advised her I’ll pull it up now but will pull down in the waiting room she then says I’m disrespectful multiple times. She had the audacity to write in the notes on my MyChart that she asked me to pull it up for safety of the guest in the waiting room THAT WAS A LIE she said verbatim “well if you wanna get people sick that’s fine” real smart She then asked me how long I been coughing I said 3-4 days she then asked again after she was flustered at the fact she pressed me to pull up my mask then came over to take my BP then had me put my finger in the (thing) then she pulls up my mask off my face put the temp stick under my tongue I removed it from her and advised I will do it myself. She then pull her hand down and moved the BP cart and hit me ( I snapped) I told her do not hit me she was angry you can tell by her demeanor. I advised her to do her job I’m here because I don’t not feel good and need care she did not care at all. She says to me I was just about to put you in a room She then states im going to have to ask you to leave ( so all this because I didn’t want to pull my mask over my nose) when I don’t even have to wear one? I said I’m not leaving you can get a manager or someone else to see me she then went and got a manager his name was Connor (useless) she proceeded to tell him what happened as soon as he came thru the door ( I told him my side) he did not care at all. Didn’t even care at the fact SHE HIT ME I told her I don’t want to be seen by her after that attitude and telling me a patient / someone’s child that I’m (disrespectful) I just got her name and the managers name and left. This whole experience has been horrific I had to leave and to drive all the way to AGH mcandless hospital that’s 20 mins from where I was to be seen. The staff here is exceptional no one person told me to put my mask over my nose the doctor even came in and listened to my breath with my mask just over my mouth. Their main priority was to provide me care and it was SPEEDY! The doctor even confirmed after telling him what she did he said you know mask are not mandated right?! I’m just so glad I was able to be seen. I arrived here and my BP was 183/89 and my Temp was 100.6!!!!! The testing for Covid came back NEGATIVE! I’m so annoyed that I had to leave a hospital to come to another to receive care! I will do my research and find out who her superiors are because I received a notification that she left a disturbing note on my MyChart lying about what happened and didn’t tell the full story as to why I did not put my mask over my nose and how I ended up leaving and how she was very nasty, rude and disrespectful to me. I will never go to that AGH ever again! Even looks like she lied about her name because who is Ruth? Who writes lies and things like this in peoples notes very UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I advised my mom works for AGH I will find out how to find her superiors there was no reason for you to put that in my notes! I’m heated and I’m honestly not done with her this will not be the last she hears from me. You do not treat people like that at all! And to be a registered nurse??!!!

My autistic nonverbal son fell and hurt his shoulder. He needed surgery. The Emergency Room doctors and staff were wonderful tending to him and explaining things to me. The surgeons and the team were fantastic.

They really accommodated his needs. The stay in the hospital was great. The nurses attended to my son wonderfully

I see why UPMC is the best

This facility is in horrible neighborhood,staff are so rude and uncaring even the janitors, to confusing way to much confusing signage, overall would not ever ever come back here!

Also too difficult to get to! Utter nightmare.

Bathrooms are disgusting! It's a hospital how soon we digress away from COVID!

Every time I have been to AGH or an AHN affiliate or branch I have received top notch care and service. I'm not going to say there haven't been little inconveinances along the way it the care is amazing. They literally saved my life and did it with grace. McGinnis cariovascualar thoracic associates is top notch. Home health care was amazing too. I can not speak highly enough about them.

Worst Emergency room in Pittsburgh hands down. I got bit in the jaw by a dog, was bleeding all over the floor for 2.5 hrs in an empty waiting area. The receptionist didnt blink an eye. I left and got stitched up at passavant and was in and out in less than 40 min with antibiotics. You are a number in the fast food style healthcare game. Doctors are owned by healthcare executives. Patients dont matter....clearly.

In the past two years, I have had two major surgeries at AGH and the care that I received was excellent. From the surgeons to the nurses to the social workers to the therapists to housekeeping and food service- everyone was professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I continued to receive care after my discharge that went a long way in contributing to the success of my recovery.

I was seeing in the emergency department last night between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. I was there till around 2:00 a.m. everybody was wonderful and treated me so well! I was mauled by a dog and I was terrified when I got to the hospital in shock actually. They did everything they could for my pain and did every test that needed to be done. I am very thankful for all of the nurses and doctors that I saw! This is the second time I spent time at AGH and the last time was just as pleasant as this time.

Like everywhere there are good nurses and bad nurses at AGH There were some wonderful Er nurses so a shout out to Allison! My top complaints are the intimidating security when everyone is already stressed. The uncleanliness and shabbiness should be addressed and staff shouldn't let patients in their street clothes for days on end
