It was a horrible experience! She treated me like a child. She talked down to me. Dr Oakes didn't want to listen to anything I had to say. I had waited months to get in to see her and was really looking forward to the appointment. I thought I would finally get some answers to my 40 pound unexplained weight loss. I was told I was fine and to follow up in 6 months. I continue losing weight.
**Awful Experience with Dr. Allison Oakes – No Care or Compassion**
I had an appointment with Dr. Allison Oakes today, and it was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. For about two years, I’ve been dealing with serious gastrointestinal (GI) issues that have caused me to lose weight. I’m 24 years old and now down to just 88 pounds, so this appointment was something I had been counting on for months. After waiting four months and driving over an hour to get there, I was hoping for some answers and support. Unfortunately, I got the exact opposite.
I had just finished a 12-hour night shift and was exhausted, but I was hopeful. Right from the start, Dr. Oakes was rude and condescending. She treated both me and my mother, who has over 40 years of experience as a nurse, like we didn’t know anything. She completely ignored what we were saying and dismissed all of my symptoms, showing no care or concern.
Throughout the appointment, Dr. Oakes made snide comments and rude faces. Her lack of bedside manner was shocking. Things got so bad that I had to stop the appointment and try to restart the conversation. I hoped we could turn things around since I had been waiting for this appointment for so long. But instead of listening or showing empathy, Dr. Oakes made things worse by gaslighting me, making me feel like my concerns didn’t matter. I was so upset that I had to step out of the room to collect myself. When I came back, I found my mother in tears.
Dr. Oakes didn’t apologize or acknowledge how she had upset us. Instead, she insisted she hadn’t done anything wrong, which only made things worse. She completely ignored all of my symptoms and concerns, leaving me feeling devastated and heartbroken after counting on this appointment for so long. I’m srill shocked over how terribly she treated both of us. We were both so upset that we left in tears.
The only bright spot of the visit was the nurse Nathan who was kind and professional. He was the only person who showed any care during the whole appointment. I’ll be contacting management to file a formal complaint because no patient should ever be treated this way.
If you’re considering seeing Dr. Allison Oakes, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. She lacks basic compassion, respect, and the ability to listen to her patients. This was quite literally the worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor (I've seen many!!), and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I was a referred by my doctor to see Dr. Oaks for a colonoscopy. It took them several weeks to call me to schedule the appointment. The date they scheduled for me was a date I couldn’t get off from my job. I called them the very next day, the office staff was able to cancel but could not reschedule. I was put through to leave a message for a call back which didn’t happen. I have called each week for the past 4 weeks and no one hasvever called me back. Such horrible customer service! I’m done I will find someone else!!!!!!
Dr. Oaks is probably the WORST gastroenterologist I’ve ever been to. I waited almost an hour for her to see me, and she completely disregarded all of my symptoms. And then she seemed genuinely offended that I’ve had to go through my primary care about my abdominal issues. “Well I don’t know what you want me to tell you, since you decided to go through another provider.” I would’ve actually come to her, if her office wasn’t damn near impossible to reach. Her medical assistant was great, but the doctor herself is totally unprofessional. Will be going to another gastro for my needs, don’t waste your time here!
I went with my daughter to her appointment today with Dr Allison Oakes. She was referred by her primary care doctor also in Granger Medical whom we love! To say this was the most horrible experience that we have ever had at a doctors visit is an understatement. We are still in shock. We have never been so talked down to and belittled in our lives! I honestly don’t know why she chose to be a caregiver. She walked in the room like she hated us and had a bad attitude that was directly pointed at us. She made us feel like she was disgusted with us and she was so rude to my daughter that I ended up in tears as the situation unfolded! She didn’t care that my daughter was visibly upset and I was visibly in tears. She just continued to talk down to us be rude. I had tears streaming down my face the entire rest of the appointment as she continued to belittle my daughter and show zero caring towards her. I honestly wish I would have stood up and expressed my concern with the mistreatment and left the appointment but I was dumfounded and didn’t know what to do. She told my daughter she would have her chart pulled and review it and we left with 2 flyers and our jaws dropped open. My daughter said she had never been hated on so much for no reason. We both felt very judged as well. We got in the elevator and then then I decided to come back to talk to the medical assistant Nathan (whom we loved) and tell him that it would not be necessary to pull her charts over and that we would not be coming back. Nathan was not available to come talk to so we met with another doctors assistant and shared our awful experience and disappointment at the poor treatment! The rest of the staff was fantastic it was just the doctor who treated us like garbage. And I got to pay a $50 copay to be treated like trash! Horrible experience! Two big thumbs down! I told my husband about this and he looked up her reviews found many other people had similar experiences.
I'm sure you won't want to hear this or that I'll get a follow up phone call! I was not happy with my visit with Dr. Oakes! I felt as though I was being interrogated! What hurt the most was the comment about my weight! I realize I am obese, but being the very first time seeing Dr. Oakes, she has no idea of why or what other medical conditions I have! I thought it was very rude. There were several other things she said that really made me upset! I'm suppose to have an endoscopy & colonoscopy with Dr. Oakes, but now I'm really considering not having her tend to any of my medical needs! I can see why people die or wait til it's too late to get a Doctor who really cares about each individual and maybe even tho we don't have a degree in the medical field, we DO KNOW OUR BODIES!
I just got out of an appointment with this Dr. not sure why she decided to be a doctor? I even had to ask why she was making a snide comment. I will never go back or recommend her. She is not personable, did not even say hello or introduced herself. She was rude. Not sure why she is still in business! Yeah no, I’m not letting you stick anything up my bum! Lol. Very bizarre experience! Find someone else! Granger, why do you want her in your practice?!? I would not hire her to clean my house let alone practice medicine on me. Wow. Have never felt more disgusted, demeaned, and talked down to, after a Dr’s appointment!
Never ever have I been treated that badly she was rude I tried to ask questions I was ignored then I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. When I woke up I had a mouth full of blood and a piece of tooth . That was the endoscopy. On to the colonoscopy I had such pain in my stomach that I thought I was in hard labor I was then told from Alison she had a hard time getting the scope to go through Then she never discussed my results except telling me I have alot of scar tissue. I was told to go home or I could stay at the hospital. I chose to go home. I don't know how she got a medical degree. I had this done in October 2023. I decided to get on the website to see if it was just me that was treated like dirt.I was not surprised. Maybe eventually get off her high horse! And needless to say I will never go back to this doctor ever again!!
