Best WLM Reviews
Dr. Grossmann is a fantastic doctor. I chose her for her ability to handle complex medical cases and for the fact that she understands the personal and emotional toll of living with medical conditions. I've also seen her partner who was equally kind and helpful. I would (and have) recommend her.
With a new Insurance policy.I decided to try a different pcp. I was with my last pcp for 5 years. I called several providers and many told me they would not have available appointments for several weeks. This provider allowed me to be seen in less than a week. I was very pleased with the entire team! I highly recommend them.
I had a physical and had a couple of issues addressed by Lauren Hodgkin's PA. She was so attentive and professional. I am a cardiac/critical care/ ED RN. I can tell you without a doubt she pays attention to details and really does what she can to address the issues and make you feel better. I left feeling better, that she was thoughtful enough to address my concerns and gave me a treatment plan. I would not hesitate going to see her and I totally trust in her.
Dr.Grossmann and her nurse was very sweet and helpful. Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at this office mostly with whoever answers the phone calls . I went in for blood work and was told they would call me once the results came in. After waiting a whole week with no call, I had to reach out myself. They then informed me that I needed more blood work and said they would place the order. I waited for four days and had to reach out again, only to find out I could come in whenever. Once again, I had to call for my results. Then they informed me I needed an ultrasound and that they would place the order when Dr. Grossman returned from her long weekend. I waited another week and a half without any follow-up. When I called again, they told me I needed to arrange the scan elsewhere and make my own appointment at the place they made my order at. I understand that a doctor's office can be busy, but it would be nice for them to communicate better so a patient can do what they have to do. It's incredibly frustrating that they don't provide all the necessary information in one call, making it difficult to follow up. The front staff is very unorganized and unprofessional.
Alissa Spade, PA and her team work hard to show they care. You never feel hurried out so they can get to the next person. When I have a question or concern, and I leave a msg - they call me back soon after I’ve left a msg. They also have called to check up on me when I’ve started a new medication. And it has been Dr. Spade herself that has called me on a few occasions, she is my Primary and I just went through a surgery- she just wanted to be in the loop. I just really love her. She explains everything to me without me asking.
I was initially very happy with Dr Grossman's care that I went to see her for over ten years and have referred patients to her. She is very data-driven and does a lot of testing in house which is always great. Her direct referral network was always good. I have to unfortunately deduct a lot of stars because I thought a GP would be someone I could get an appointment with for valid medical concerns, even if there's not much she could do but listen. What else is a GP for?
I had an acute injury (broken bones, tendons) that happened with an underlying cause being a rare disease I knew nothing about. I went to Texas Orthopedics based off my husband's great experience with a doctor there and got advice for aftercare that sounded incorrect and dangerous. I started calling around other Orthopedic offices. As soon as I said the name of the disease, no one wanted to see me. I was in a lot of pain and desperate. I called Dr Grossman's office because I wanted several things: a review of my phosphates etc from my latest panel knowing now that I had a bone disease, possible referrals to get a bone density scan or where I could go for a full body MRI even if out of pocket, generic questions about how to care for broken bones (stick with ice? will codeine slow healing? eat more of X?), and whether the ortho's suggestion to NOT brace or isolate a knee injury when your kneecap is subluxating (wiggling around on its own) was as crazy as I thought it was.
I was told by her staff that Dr Grossman would not take a call with me because she had no knowledge of the rare disease, even though all my questions were either around the acute injury (breaking a bone seems pretty common) or being able to get a full body scan/DEXA scan. I could only communicate to a PA who tried to dismiss all of my questions except to recheck my vitamin D count and refused to let me talk to the doctor. When I emailed back asking again, I was told no again.
Also the ortho's advice to 'move around as much as possible' on a subluxated knee WAS crazy. In the two days where I couldn't seem to get anyone to return my calls, my kneecap dislocated because I sat in a chair. An ambulance and hospital bill later, I finally had my leg brace.
I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend Dr Grossman, but I'm particularly disappointed myself.
I feel abandoned and angry. I started a new medication and was having concerning side effects. I called three separate times in the span of two weeks, and emailed. No response. The first time I called, I left a voicemail asking for my provider to call me. The second and third time, I spoke with two different receptionists who told me that Ms. Hodgkins would be calling me back that same day. Never happened. My prescription was put in late, so I had to miss a dose of this medication, which is unsafe. I then called again, and was told by the receptionist Crystal, that they had no record of me calling or emailing. I needed help and guidance, and was left scared and confused. I had to rely on my HEB pharmacy team for support during this past month, and they said that the lack of communication from my doctor was “unacceptable in this industry.” I can’t express how much it hurts to be ignored during a scary and stressful time, nor can I tell you how many times I cried, thinking that my doctor simply didn’t care about me.
Done! I have been in this office for several years. Adequate if you have a cold, or skin knee, perhaps, but if you are dealing with anything worse than that Dr. Grossmann is a great referring MD, most of the physicians she referred me to were OK enough. However Feb 24 she decided my BP (blood pressure) was too high and she was going to treat it. OK this was new for her to try her hand at actually dealing with what can be a serious issue. However in May '24 I went to her to address a low O2 concentration level. I needed a script for O2 until I could sort out why this was happening. (turned out another Pulmonary Embolism, just a really bad one, an issue I have had that this office should have known was possible) Her protocol was to have me wait around the office for 20 minutes for my appointment and then put an O2 meter on my finger and it reads 96% saturation. Crappy protocol. If they had put that meter on my finger right after I had climbed the stairs to the 2nd story office that meter would have reflected what I had been seeing-- 85% saturation or less. Thankfully I had an appointment with a real physician down in San Antonio the next day and when I reported my issue to her, she walked me up and down the hall a couple of times and then put the meter on my finger, yeah 84%. "You need O2" my San Antonio doctor said. My last visit with Grossmann, today, Sept 26, 2024, was about the medication she had put me on for BP. Her response was it took at least a couple of weeks for the BP to moderate after going off the medication and she was of the opinion that this was dangerous. Her office had refused to refill the prescription when I attempted to get that done and I was going to run out before I was going to see her even before I had to reschedule for a later date. Didn't make any sense to me but I thought it would be a good experiment to see if my BP would be better after my exercise and weight loss attempts. After consulting with another physician (hoped he would become my new PC but alas that did not work out) who actually listened concerning BP readings and suggested taking them at different times throughout a day would give a better picture of what was happening to my BP health, I started practicing that testing. He also refilled my BP med script just in case my BP didn't cooperate while off the medication. So my BP is moderately high and I do worry about kidney damage, and my research on the Harvard Medical site and a couple of other medical information sites suggest that what I am dealing with short term is problematic but this is not nearly as dangerous as going without O2... Since Dr Grossmann's PA and upon advisement of Dr Grossmann, could not trust that I knew what I was talking about concerning O2 saturation, how could I trust this office to treat my BP issue? I could not, and without further adieu, I told Dr Grossmann I was not going to change my opinion about the BP meds and she said she wasn't going to change her opinion that it was dangerous and that I should find another PC. No kidding, I told her I was already in the market for one and she gave me 30 days notice that she was no longer going to be my physician. Again not very perceptive once again, she had already lost my trust and had not really been my physician since back in May. She really wasn't after her office refused to refill my BP med script. Finding a new PC is a pain in the ass but it isn't as bad as having one that you cannot trust to treat your dog. The only saving grace of this office is referrals to other doctors, that is why I gave it a two. But don't expect them to be able to actually treat you when the chips are down for real.
