Overall my first experiences at this hospital have been surprisingly good. I was able to secure and attend my first appointment at this hospital with my primary care team quickly despite obstacles on the phone to get established at this hospital at my new address. I parked at the ER area and took the wrong route to the hospital on my first day, but I was able to navigate the hospital to get to the correct location. I like how I was able to get almost everything done immediately: my appointment, pharmacy refill, medical records release forms, and address the doctors I needed for different ailments in one day. It took me six hours to get all this done at this hospital, since I arrived at my first appointment an hour early. Despite the hours spent here, it was quiet and peaceful - no lines or anxiety. This was the most ideal doctor and hospital visit I ever had. Peaceful, spacious and inviting lobby area, easy to locate appointment, gift shop, & pharmacy location, and a Starbucks on the third floor to enjoy iced coffee. It was easy finding the parking lot of the front of the hospital where the hospital's pharmacy is located. Going to the hospital and my first doctor appointments at a new address are always stressful to me due to numerous past experiences, so I was elated to finally have a good firsthand experience.
I cannot explain how blessed I am with my experience here. I just delivered my little girl and everyone was amazing and so caring and kind. They took such great care of us both. All the nurses, doctors, midwives, pp nurses, students, registration, and room service and staff here are so welcoming!! I highly recommend coming here for any medical attention. You will love it here!!
My first experience at De Witt Army Hospital was in 2002-2003, in preparation to deployment in GWOT. In 2003 I had a minor procedure. Later in 2014 I was there for VETERANS AFFAIRS clinic. But only now I discovered that there is no more DE WItt Army Medical center... It is now Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center. Interesting when did the name changed please? I will do my research and read the reviews. Thank you for sharing your views and It is an AMAZING place and wonderful.
This is specific to the gastro clinic. It's sad to say I actually didn't expect anything more from a military care facility. It took my husband two weeks to actually get ahold of someone to schedule his gastro procedure. On the day of, he was taken back to preop 1.5 hours after his appointment time. We had already arrived one hour before the appointment time per instructions. In preop, his procedure wasn't started until another 1.5 hours. We had already been there for nearly 4 hours. We spent a total of 5 hours there for a simple procedure that takes less than 15 minutes. We were not informed the physician was hours delayed and it was extremely irritating. Not only was the physician delayed, he didn't even bother to read my husbands h/p before the procedure. So, when asked questions after the procedure he said he "didn't know" then went and reviewed his past visits (after the procedure!). Its obvious the patients are just a number. I am extremely disappointed with how this clinic is run and unfortunately, choosing where to go isn't an option. I find it very disrespectful for the physician to not inform his patients of the long delay because our time is JUST as valuable as his and some physicians seem to forget that.
I just love this hospital. It’s everything I wish a hospital would be since it has a lot of commitment to the academic side of medicine, but it has so much heart to it. As soon as I walk in I feel very welcome, and the retired veterans working the doors and nurses administering the counters for each department have both the expertise AND the nurturing feels one would expect a nurse to have.
I stopped by a department feeling unwell while volunteering, and because they are so used to processing soldiers who have severe neurological and PTSD symptoms they know how to just take over and be of assistance when someone looks unwell. It’s so refreshing to see this side of medicine after being exposed to so many hospitals where they just want to collect money for doing nothing, medically gaslight, or discriminate. I’m very happy to volunteer and assist this hospital as it provides the right kind of service without those issues.
I’m so shocked to see such a polarized set of reviews. Either people really loved it or they hated it. That goes to show how important synastry really is.
I do not normally post complaints here however I am truly not satisfied. Went to ENT a month ago due to continuous sinus issues. There was an intern along with the regular Dr. The specialist was adamant I needed a nasal scan and allergy testing. I was put on 21 days of antibiotics and a streoid nasal rinse. I made a follow up appointment to do the nasal scan. I drove all the way here today only to be told I was having continuous sinus issues because I am allergic to grass. Added to that, now the nasal scan, which was the reason I came back, wasn't necessary now based on CT scans that were looked at during my first appointment. I questioned was that it and was told if I needed more help I needed to see an allergist. Was the scan really necessary the first time or was I going to be practice for the intern. It was a waste of my time to drive all the way here. I could have been told this on the phone. My issues have not been resolved so I will be seeing another doctor.
It’s a hospital on a military base. Has ample parking. Variety of clinics and offices including a dentist inside the hospital. Also has a Starbucks on the 3rd floor and a pretty decent cafeteria.
Beautiful hospital. Nice and clean with comfortable chairs to wait at the Lobby and Pharmacy. Great customer service and atmosphere. I'm proud of everybody at Ft. Belvoir Army Base in Virginia. God bless you all. Thanks for your service and fantastic job everyone! Blessings.????????♥️
