Best WLM Reviews

We had a wonderful meal here to celebrate our anniversary. The food and drink were delicious, and the staff appropriately attentive. We would highly recommend the Halibut Ceviche, the Berkshire Pork Chop, and the Chocolate Mousse.
Received drinks and app quickly. Took an hour to get our main dishes. People kept apologizing, yet no offered compensation for admittedly bad service! Food was okay once we got it, but had to choke down entrees in 10 min due to ticket times at TD. I have worked in food service, and this was definitely poor service, as well and no attempt to make things better. Just a "so sorry". Will definitely not go out of my way to go back here nor recommend.
There’s a lot to like here. Gorgeous views outside, really modern interior, prompt service, and sustainability as a focus from the menu. I think like many spots nearby you’ll find seafood is one of the highlights, but I wish they could do more with their appetizer section - it feels a bit lacking.
The bread was delightful if small in “value”/portion sizing. Ditto the ice cream at the end.
Entrees felt generously portioned and were quite good, but the burger was a bit lackluster - just a little dull and not all that well presented- same for fries. Same for the chicken. Delicious, don’t get me wrong, but plating needs work- just very bland aesthetically. Feels like a 3/5 there but a solid 4.5/5 in flavor.
I’m doing the full 5/5 stars because we had a good time, felt well attended, and generally appreciate any seasonal and sustainable food even inclusive of small flaws or other unrelated issues.
Nothing “outstanding” or groundbreaking happening during our meal (summer 2023), but absolutely still a highlight of the town and it’s so nice to see sustainable high quality food taken seriously.
Alcove was a huge let down. Service was INCREDIBLY slow. Unacceptably slow. and I come from a country that is world renowned for being slow. This was worse. I waited 20 minutes or more for a cocktail, and then we waited again for a cocktail and a beer. I understand being busy. But a restaurant that is of this stature seriously needs to reevaluate how they handle a moderately busy Tuesday night. Maybe someone called out sick? But no apologies given, no explanation. Just super slow with every single thing we ordered. The drinks. The food. So incredibly slow. They could move more customers in and out of the restaurant if they fixed this issue, and they would in turn make more money.... but shocked at how bad the service was. the 12 oysters we ordered were also served on a MASSIVE platter that could have fit 48 oysters. And we could barely get to any of the other appetizers without having to look around the massive ice platter for the oysters. I can't believe how amateur everything was from the hostess, to the waiter, to the bar, and the incredibly slow turn around on drinks and food. Who manages this place?
Alcove offers a warm, stylish atmosphere that’s perfect for a night out! The food was delicious, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and visually appealing. Great flavors, stylish decor, and an inviting atmosphere make Alcove a must-visit. Highly recommend!
As a Lovejoy Wharf resident, I've dined at Alcove 100+ times since it opened and have consistently experienced exceptional experiences.
Ambiance - I like how Alcove provides multiple experiences. I've hosted work dinners in the dining area, enjoyed lunch or dinner outside, and worked while eating at the bar. I enjoy having a meal overlooking the water and Zakim Bridge.
Food - I enjoy the range of options from easy bites to multi-course dinners, including raw bar, lunch / light appetizers, and dinners. My favorites include oysters, ceviche, grilled shrimp tacos, entree specials, and the hazelnut affogato dessert.
Customer Service - I consistently receive exceptional customer service. The best restaurant is the one that knows you. Special thank you to Sara, who always makes the service excellent and customized. You are the reason I return once or twice a week.
Drinks - Alcove has an exceptional wine list for all price points. They also have good beer and cocktail options.
I HIGHLY recommend Alcove if you are stopping by for a drink/light bite, in the area for a TD Garden event, or looking for a neighborhood restaurant.
Elevated tavern that offers great food and a relaxing getaway along the wharf.
Alcove has been under my radar for a long time as I walk past this area often to walk my dog. Compared to Nightshift Brewing next doors, Alcove’s patio is usually empty, so I was always a bit hesitant to give this place a try. Since they’ve been on the Dine Out Boston list for a long time, I finally decided to stop by for a weekday lunch.
Alcove curates a separate Dine Out menu, which, to my pleasant surprise, surpassed my expectations. Before getting the Dine Out Menu, I got a half dozen clams, and these medium-sized delights were fresh and excellent start to the meal.
For my three-course lunch, I opted for the Crispy Shrimp + Gem Lettuce Salad, Rigatoni Bolognese, and the Dark Chocolate Tart. The salad was an enjoyable medley of textures, with the crispy croutons and fried shrimp lending additional crunch to the little gem lettuce and radishes. The gentle touch of green goddess dressing added a light, flavorful coating that enhanced the dish without overpowering its fresh ingredients. The Rigatoni Bolognese, cooked to perfect al dente, was enveloped in a savory yet mildly flavored sauce that surprised me with its subtlety and depth.
The finale, Dark Chocolate Tart, was the only aspect that I found to be just okay. The tart itself was somewhat mushy and the cream a bit watery, but it still represented a step above typical tavern fare.
Overall, Alcove offers a refined dining experience that may make it a worthwhile choice over a more casual pizza and beer at Nightshift, if you’re in the mood. With the warmer months ahead, I might come back with my dog to try more of their menu.
Great atmosphere and service. Cocktails were great with the option to have large cocktail bowls. The appetizers were good, but the chicken fingers were not. Great fries though. Definitely come for drinks and apps.
