Went here over he weekend for a quick lunch. I had the veggie Chile relleno and veggie enchilada, it was bland had to add salt and pepper. There just didn’t seem to be any flavor in the dish. My wife had veggie tacos and she said the same thing, we needed to add some spicy to give it a kick. My daughter liked her French fries and the chips and salsa they put out, that’s the only reason I gave the food three stars. I ordered a sprite and to ask for it twice before it came out. I wanted a refill and had to ask for it three times, it never came. That’s why service got a two. They did not check up on us, we had to go to the hostess s number of times to get the waiter to come over. The atmosphere was too dark in the bar area but cool as they had all the fans on. In the dining room it was lighter but muggy as they didn’t have any fans on. I had to ask them twice before they put it on.
Overall it was a disappointing experience. I have been here before and the service and atmosphere was good. This time I don’t know what happened.
We decided to give it a second try because we heard their food had improved but it wasn’t.
It’s a shame because it has a prime location on Main Street.
Food was as good as any decent Mexican restaurants and worth the money. Drinks weren’t great though for adults. But kids drinks were good. . Loved their fresh Nacho, was fresh and warm.. loved the sides provided as well.
If just 2 we’ll- eaters, then their scrumptious sampler platter is awesome to go for.
We were seated outside and the weather was lovely too. Not very crowded, but the restaurant was busy.. 75% full when we went on a Sunday evening.
The drinks (Alberto's Margaritas) were strong, the food was so so, we had a party of 5 so there was a 'Service Fee' added, but when we asked about it, the reply was kinda vague or what it really was. It was 20%, so that is the only tip you are getting.
The meat in the carne asada tacos was bland and dry, there was very little chicken in the chicken mole. The price just seemed a bit high for what we got, 3 margaritas, and 5 food plates for like $260. I mean I get that you are in old town Pleasanton, but come on.
At 11am on a Thursday afternoon, this place is perfect.
There was a faint trickle of early lunch guests, and the staff said I could seat myself anywhere, so I picked a far-corner bar table. My seat was cushy, and not too high-up (which I consider a bonus). Within minutes, I was greeted with a bowl of delightfully crispy tortilla chips and fresh red salsa…
I felt good n’ spoiled already! ????
I picked a spot facing a wall of giant televisions delivering clear images of various sports (but none of them were at too high a volume — their combined sound blended into the background of house music, which I consider another plus).
Roxanne was my waitress; through her, I learned breakfast items were served all day, so I gleefully ordered the chilaquiles with 3 eggs (as opposed to 2) and carne asada.
I think I only waited 15-20 minutes tops (maybe less than that) for my meal…
Everything was amazing— the juicy asada, the luscious eggs, the base of homemade chips mixed with their sauce and queso— so amazing that, after the first few bites, I forced myself to pause (& prevent myself from shoveling it all in)! ???? I rarely let out audible ‘Mmm’ sounds when eating, but this was a special case. ????
What’s more, Roxanne was the epitome of professionalism and integrity:
I originally requested that my eggs be poached, but I resolved that I’d also be content with over-easy.
Before the bill came, she disclosed that the kitchen was unfamiliar with poaching, and essentially asked for a run-down on how one poaches eggs …
I then gave a brief summary/description and she seemed grateful. Her earnest curiosity left me impressed, so for her, I left (what I hope was) a generous tip. ????????????????????
My only regret was that I didn’t stay longer for a post-meal beverage, but as long as they don’t randomly shut down anytime soon, I’ll be returning for a longer visit. ????????
The service and food were just ok and the drinks were very strong. We had a party of 5 and got charged a 20% service fee but weren't really told what it was for .. maybe 5 or more or just the tip included.
Went to Alberto’s for a team dinner event. Liked the atmosphere and vibe . Its one of the best place to try Mexican food in downtown Pleasanton. Do try the drink Alberto’s Margarita, if you are looking for one.
Good food at reasonable prices with parking behind not many people are aware of. You might want to avoid going when Main Street is closed for the Christmas parade like I did!
My family and I came here on Friday night as an early Mother’s Day dinner. We came around 7:30 ish not too crowded, granted the warriors were playing. We were seated in bout 5-7 mins. Our waitress Melissa was amazing. Super friendly and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the carnitas and a strawberry margarita.
