The doctors here are amazing but their front desk staff and schedulers are far from good. You can never get a hold of any one, I’ve had an appointment cancelled on me last minute and have been waiting over a month for someone to reach out and reschedule for a test that a ton of my other doctors are waiting on. Staff are very rude when you call advocating for yourself and your medical treatment. Not any way to treat patients.
I was diagnosed a few years ago with epilepsy, and Dr. Spanaki-Varelas has been incredible to work with on this the entire time. She explains things very thoroughly and clearly cares about my well-being. During my initial stay at the hospital for my diagnosis, I had several other doctors working on my case and they were all fantastic. I unfortunately can't remember all of their names, but I do remember Dr. Quinlan who was also incredible and a complete pleasure to work with.
I called in December 2023, and was already disappointed to have to wait until June 2024 for an appointment. However, less than 2 weeks from my appointment in June I got a call that it was being cancelled. Now I have to wait ANOTHER 6 months for an appointment, making this now 1 year from when I got a referral from my primary. Absolutely unacceptable. I don't understand how they can function like this and call it healthcare...
Every time I try and make an appointment they can’t see me for at least 7 months. I can never get anyone to answer the phone and when they do answer the phone they sound completely clueless and can’t help with anything. Literally good for nothing unless you’re looking to have a seizure from lack of care.
No real concern for there patients my son was written a script for an emergency seizure medication that was very expensive and insurance won’t cover I’ve been calling for 2 days in a row to see if they could change it to an affordable medication no one calls back currently I’ve been sitting on hold for almost an hour and no one answers guess it’s not an emergency to them
I just can't deal with another medical office with incredibly rude front desk staff. It apparently doesn't matter that I was 15 minutes early to my appointment as instructed. I was told (more like snapped at) that I should have anticipated more time for paperwork because she was on the phone when I got there. From then on out she gave me nothing but attitude for no reason. I'm going to keep looking for a doctor with at least a semi-decent front desk staff. It isn't even that hard to pretend to be nice.
If I could leave no stars I would. I truly miss Doctor Gomez from Gomez Neurology. Never have I ever experienced lack of care from a Neurology practice. I’ve had my six month follow up Neurology appointment scheduled since September 2023 for February 8th 2024. Since then I received a letter from the office stating that I would be seeing ANOTHER new Neurologist, Dr. Radmar. I didn’t get to see her until 2/27. When I saw her, it was time for me to start testing and exams and blood work to treat MS which I’ve been living with for seven years. Now I’m in my worst state living with this disorder and I’m in my ghost month where since it’s been now six months since my last infusion, I am in pain and without medicine. I’ve been calling every other day since 2/27/24 and left multiple messages for the Doctor to fill the scripts for my infusion so that I can resume normal life such as returning to public settings since I’m now immunocompromised. Not only has she ignored and not followed up with returning my multiple calls, I am very much experiencing MS fatigue, I am out of work, on disability and can barely keep up. I am going to leave Albany Med and seek medical assistance elsewhere. Not before I file additional complaints and official lack of care complaints about the Albany Med Neurology department. It has been over three weeks of blatant neglect and abuse. What is the point of switching over to the MyChart system when she doesn’t care to use it to respond to her messages anyway?
I’ve been waiting for an appointment since April. Every time I call, I’m told it’s still under provider review and never get any further. Will be trying to go elsewhere.
