I can not express enough how disappointing this office is. I have called 7 times in the past week only to be sent to a voicemail stating that someone will call me back. On the 4 call I made to the office someone called me back and confirmed my appointment. I asked what I need to do prior to my appointment and the receptionist told me to check my email it must have been sent to me, while she was on the phone I checked my email and have NO instructions. The receptionist asked me to hold on and sent me to a voicemail! I have call 3 more times since this and no one has called me back. I used the portal, and no one has called me back. This is crazy. I love my doctor but the office has made this so challenging that I need to get my records and move to another office. If I can get someone on the phone to get my records!
I met with PA, Sarah, who is new to the practice. I was a patient of Dr. Poleto’s and was hesitant to have my appointment with someone new. I couldn’t be more pleased with her professionalism and thorough exam. Sarah has a flair for making you really feel heard. She made me comfortable and answered my many questions without making me feel rushed. Albany GI is fortunate to have Sarah on their team! I’m looking forward to my next appointment with Sarah.
Dr Polito is the best. Not only a great doctor, but a good person. The nurses were also amazing. From start to finish, they make you feel like you matter. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for my experience.
The down side has nothing to do with them. Told to be there at 6:30 am, and soon there was a gathering of us waiting. Admin staff walked by us, never acknowledged us waiting. We watched them enter thru the back door, go to their spots with no acknowledgement that there are 8 people in the lobby. Finally, one went in the front door and I heard the lock click open, otherwise, I wouldn't have known. We all went in. Finally, someone asked us what we were there for, and sent us up to the 2nd floor. To me, if you see that many people waiting, (2 chairs), you have a duty as a professional to just check to make sure these people are where they should be. Upstairs, all was great. But the folks on the 1st floor were rude and not conscientious at all. I am retired, but I worked in the medical field, doing UR, as a therapist for a while, and I have not seen such disregard. However, KUDOS to the surgical team.
Is there a corporate number I can reach ? The way they treat there elderly patients is despicable. My father is not technology savy and was having issues with the patients portal. He called inquiring on his lab results. The female nurse who he was transferred to answered the phone told him repeatedly to use the patient portal for his results and he told her 2x he cannot use it he is having issues with it can he be told his results, or mailed or can he come in, and was again told USE THE PATIENT PORTAL, he then asked if he could speak the provider. The nurse stated the provider does not want to speak with him. In all my years of working in healthcare, and as much as I've wanted to tell a patient I don't want to speak with them, I wouldn't dare. That's ridiculous and flat out rude and uncalled for and I want to speak with someone about it.
I recently moved back to CA from upstate NY and was provided refills of my treatment to hold me over until I’m able to get an appt with a new GI. This office has ignored calls from my new pharmacy to verify EXISTING refills to continue my treatment. The only refill that was verified was re-authorized for a lesser quantity, causing me to end up in the ER. Getting a hold of this office is always a nightmare, and I am left without my pancreatic treatment as a result. Doctors know how terrible it is to get an appt for anything right now and it has become a nightmare for my health as they continue to ignore my treatment. I have been forced to quit my job and apply for EDD as the calls go unanswered.
Doctor walked in, hasn't met me and diagnosed me, before walking in based on records from 2022. He did NOT even know I was sent there for blood in my stool. DID NOT GO THROUGH MY MEDICAL HISTORY. He diagnosed me with hemoroids when I have ZERO SYMPTOMS!!!!!!!!! I WAS RUSHED. I HATED THE EXPERIENCE. HORRIBLE. -10 STARS.
I will NOT be returning. Never met a doctor so unprofessional.
Dr. Gerson is excellent! He is very professional and makes you feel extremely comfortable. He explains everything very thoroughly. I have been a patient of Dr. Gerson for 13 years.
Dr. Matthew Warndorf was wonderful! He was my doctor for my first colonoscopy, and he was very patient and answered all my questions. He made an uncomfortable (but necessary) procedure seamless.
