I recently stopped by Alary’s in downtown St. Paul on a Chicago Bears game day, and the energy in the place was absolutely electric! As a Bears bar here in Minnesota, it’s a great spot to catch the game with other fans—it felt like a mini Chicago right in the heart of St. Paul.
I tried a few things off their menu, starting with the Ketel One Blueberry Mule, which was refreshing and tasty—a perfect drink for unwinding.
For food, I had the Brisket & Smoked Queso Sandwich, which was hands-down my favorite. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and their sauces took it to another level. Speaking of sauces, I also tried their Smoked Wings, paired with a variety of their house-made options: Mississippi Comeback, Strawberry Jalapeño, Jerk BBQ, and Petey’s BBQ Championship. Each sauce had its own unique flair, but the Strawberry Jalapeño stood out for its sweet and spicy twist.
I heard they make a killer banana pudding, so that’s definitely on my list for next time! The ambiance of Alary’s is another highlight—you can feel the history in the space, which gives it a charming and authentic vibe.
The service was also top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed, even on a busy game day, which really added to the experience.
One thing that makes Alary’s stand out is the convenience they offer. They provide validated evening and weekend parking in the ramp next door, and even run shuttles to and from all major events in Saint Paul, including Wild games, Saints games, concerts, and downtown events. You can park for free and ride with them, which is such a game-changer.
If you’re into trivia, don’t miss their Bar Trivia, which isn’t just limited to evenings. It’s a great way to enjoy some good food and drinks while testing your knowledge any time of day!
Whether you’re here for the food, drinks, or the lively atmosphere, Alary’s is definitely worth a visit, especially on game day. I’ll be back soon to try that banana pudding!
Ah, Pete's spice on the smoked wings at Alary's Bar & Barbeque in St. Paul, Minnesota is a game-changer! ????️ The combination of the smoky flavor from the wings and the kick from Pete's spice is a match made in BBQ heaven. Your taste buds will thank you for this flavorful experience. Make sure to have a cold drink on hand to cool down the heat, but trust me, it's worth the spice! ????????
I’ve been here before when it was known as a cop bar. Loved it then and was worried about coming back after hearing of Al passing and new management. They just opened up full swing a few months back. Last night we were treated by the bartender, Mark, who was friendly the entire time. Some regular patrons also spoke with us about the history of the bar and changes. They have remained regulars.
The new design is good. They still pay homage to Law Enforcement with a St Paul PD car door on the wall with signatures. We ordered drinks and burgers. Food was top notch. Service was quick. Price was decent. The owner, Bill, came by to say hi as well.
Definitely will be back.
Alary's was a great choice for our Christmas office party. They sectioned off a portion of the bar for our event, servers/bartenders were kind and attentive, and the cherry on top was Hamm's on tap. Thank you for making me look good in front of my coworkers. I recommend this bar for your future work events.
We were visiting from Chicago and found this Bears bar to enjoy the game. We are Vegan, so only enjoyed the amazing fries with delicious homemade sauces. Anna our server was fantastic. The other patrons and staff were friendly and fun to watch the game with. Glad we found this gem.
First time here. Cool bar. “Fancy dive bar” vibes. Very clean and great low key atmosphere. Went for lunch. Tap beer selection was amazing. And then there was the food….!!!!
Ordered the wings and the Texas stogies (jalapeño poppers). Don’t know if I would want to wings or poppers anywhere else. Can’t wait to try the other items on the menu.
The remake of Alary’s is remarkable. Very accepting, clean environment, inside and out. Patio is so nice. All the bartenders and servers are outstanding. And the bbq is delicious. We’ve had dinners, appetizers and sandwiches, and all have been so good. Highly recommend.
Decent tab list and the brisket is delicious here! Alexander was fast at the bar and checked in with me regularly.
