Front desk person was cheerful, nice & quick to check us in. I was there for a VA appointment and was reserved a room there by the VA. The VA was close and easy to get to but my oversized truck made it a pain at the VA. The rooms are basic and remind me of a barracks. Not a whole lot going on in that area for entertainment so it's nice and quiet. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying again.
We booked this hotel in desperation when my son was in OHSU for surgery. I had originally booked a different hotel for 2 nights with the plan of just staying with him in the hospital, but the original hotel was in a horrible location, the room was carpeted and smelled horrible and we just didn't feel safe.
After searching numerous hotels close to the hospital, I finally booked Aladdin Inn, as I say in desperation, because the price was right and it isn't far from OHSU hospital.
We were SO PLEASANTLY surprised when we entered our room! I had booked a room with 2 queen beds. We were given an ADA accessible room with vinyl wood flooring (SO important in a hotel) and the second queen bed in a separate room. It was very clean and comfortable, and the accessibility worked out perfectly when my son was discharged earlier than expected, and so was more easily able to access everything needed in the room than he would have otherwise been able.
But the true icing on the cake - I had to guess at how long he would be admitted, and I was quite conservative in my estimate, figuring it would be easier to add a night or two on than try to get a refund for booking too long. It turned out I booked a night too long anyway, and when I spoke to the desk staff at check-out, they said I would need to contact booking.com myself to try to refund the final, uneeded night.
Today, I received an email from booking.com - the hotel staff had reached out to them about it to get the final night refunded! What truly superb service! I am stunned. I feel a lot of hotels would just take the money and run - this kind of good, honest service is SO refreshing. It has made a rather stressful situation so much smoother, and I will definitely recommend Aladdin Inn to anyone I know who needs to stay in Portland.
Thank you, Aladdin Inn, for such EXCELLENT service!
Stained bed sheets, awful smell coming from ac/heat so WE had to clean the filter which was probably never cleaned (see pic), internet not very good despite 2 doors from manager who was running 3 devices. The continental complete breakfast includes: yogurt, banana or apple, half a muffin, disgusting coffee, instant oatmeal, kirkland little granola bar. The shower had no water pressure, the carpet severely used and stained. Tiny television. Steep stairs, no elevator. Noisy. Bed was HARD. Shame on V.A. for putting us here for medical stay close to Good Samaratin.
Really nice place Quiet, really nice service. The rooms were really clean and it was really big for us for a big family. So yes, it was really nice. I will definitely return.
Love this place. Not the ritz, but also not the ghetto. People are friendly, rooms are clean, and affordable, and nobody creepy lurks about outside.
Very convenient when visiting the Veterans Hospital. Room was nice but shower was lukewarm and low pressure.
Stayed here for a hospital visit and the room was fine. Clean, had extra towels, a microwave, small fridge and coffee maker, all which were appreciated. Room was quiet, until people above us started their day early ...not the hotels fault, but it was really loud with not much insulation. Bathroom definitely shows it's age and the water in the shower was only lukewarm. Staff was friendly, food was available for breakfast...not much, but adequate.
First impression was good, but then we found a broken injection needle in the bed. We were lucky we were not injured. It was late when we found it, we just requested room change that was provided immediately, but I would never stay again.
