Best WLM Reviews
We always make this our first stop in the Keys! Great dive bar!! Bar and wait staff are friendly and engaging! The atmosphere is pure Keys! Come as you are and have a great time talking with the locals! ❤️????
Good food. Good service. Prices aren’t bad. You are on the water. Like a canal but still on the water lol. The combo is a decent size plate and tasty. Peel and eat shrimp are really good. And I liked the sweet potato fries. Good overall experience.
Wanted to find a lunch spot for the drive down to Key West. I would've preferred something a little closer to half-way, but the second half of our drive went fast while we talked about how awesome this place was. Taking this detour added 10 minutes overall to our drive down. So worth it.
Pulled up at 2pm and wondered if we'd be safe going inside. Thank god we did. It looked like an absolute disaster outside in the best possible way. This is everything a roadside stop should be. Just a bunch of decent fried food in an amazing atmosphere right on the water.
Sure, I got 13 mosquito bites while trying to eat (next time, I'll bring bug spray). Sure, the waitress dumped one of our entrees on the ground and had to have it re-made. Sure, they ran out of the drink I ordered and i had to change my drink order twice to accommodate. Who cares.
As a ridiculously huge added bonus, during our one-hour visit, we had both a manatee and a crocodile swim by. Add in the barracuda that shared the remnants of my shrimp entree when I dumped it into the water post-meal, and this was the best "zoo" I ever visited.
The atmosphere is good, typical Florida vibe which is great. Customer service and food could be better. For how busy it is , must be the atmosphere attaracting everyone. Server was just eh. Don't get the conch fritter and sides are separate with sandwiches. Drinks are pricey at $15 for a small cup.
We couldn’t wait to stop here on our way to key west. We heard the conch fritters were the thing to get. None of our party of 6 have had this delicatessen previously so we have nothing to compare. We were not overly eager to finish them- kind of hard knots inside, but maybe this is normal. I was not encouraged to try conch fritters anywhere else after my experience. My mahi fish tacos were YUM! Key lime pie was YUM!
The mosquitoes were a bit of a problem. They were particularly active when we stopped. Glad we went, nice break in our long ride headed south.
A little gem in the rough… we stopped here on a recommendation from some good friends, we were not disappointed. We had peel and eat shrimp and the Mahi Mahi Ruben, delicious. We even loved the little wines they serves, surprisingly good. The atmosphere was great, open air place, rustic decor. Definitely a must stop on your way down to the Keys! We even saw a sailboat coming into dock and dine, bonus!
We ended up here thanks to a tip. It's a little hidden on Highway 905 towards Key Larg, just before the bridge. The restaurant is not easy to find. Most people drive to Key West via US 1. The guests are mainly locals who are great to chat to. You sit on a terrace by the water, the food is tasty and the portions are generous. The prices are on the low side.
The detour via the 905 is worth it not only, but above all, because of this restaurant.
Definitely a must stop when driving from Miami to Key West. This place embodies what the Florida Keys are. Laid back and yet beautiful at the same time. There's no greater joy than sitting at a high top along the porch rail and watching the fish, the birds, and the boats go by. Grab a cold beverage, an order of the famous Conch Fritters, and just soak it all in. For a real treat, grab an order of wings and toss your bones into the water when done to watch the feeding frenzy as the fish go nuts.
