Best WLM Reviews
Haven't been here in years because it is always so busy in the summer. It was still busy but we were able to be seated right away. Truly a unique experience. Cakes and meatballs are the go to. Service, food , and atmosphere are all great. Very clean and smells good. Nice little gift shop. Goats were not on the roof today.
Had pancakes and meatballs and coffee-- delicious! First visit there. Got in at 7a on way to Washington Island ferry. Our server was very kind and attentive. Food was quick and hot! Perfect for a chilly morning. Drive by at lunch and was very busy. Have had a lot of Swedish pancakes over the years-- these are some of the best we have had!
We had a good experience at Al Johnson’s with it being a staple place to visit in Sister Bay. The goats were on the roof the day we visited so we got the full experience for our journey.
There was a small wait to get in to the restaurant but the shop being connected made for a good experience very similar to that of a Cracker Barrel albeit a more European version. The interesting trinkets and wares overall was nice to see and we ended up picking up some things while we waited.
The restaurant experience was good with the breakfast all day menu being the major highlight. The Swedish pancakes were great and the combo meal was a great all around meal to order being all you need for the day really. The service was quick and very good during our experience.
A must stop and a great place to visit.
Is this a gimmicky place with goats on the roof? Yes. Can their outdoor service use actual service? Yes. Is their Bloody Mary in a plastic cup way overpriced tourist trap by itself? Yes. But is this place worth visiting just to stare at goats on the roof on a bright sunny day in Door County? Absolutely! Everyone visiting Door County should visit this place at least once.
What an amazing and unique restaurant and store! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent both times we visited! The service was great and we were impressed and delighted that everyone was dressed in authentic Swedish attire.
From the goat’s grazing on the roofs, to the detail of the workmanship inside the building, the authentic Swedish items in the store and the delicious authentic food, we completely enjoyed our dinning experience! It’s probably the closest we will ever get to being in Sweden!
We highly recommend stopping in!
Yes, there’s goats on the roof sometimes. Lol. Depends on the day! The goats decide if they want to go to the roof or stay on the ground, sometimes they’re up there, sometimes they’re not! The food is delicious! We tried the Monte Cristo and Swedish Meatballs with soup, veggies, mashed potatoes and lingonberries. Everything was delicious! There was a 1 hour wait but it was worth it and I’d love to come back next time we’re visiting! The hostess that was working and calling tables on the mic today had an extremely nagging and annoying voice and not super friendly but besides that, had a 10/10 experience!
Iconic restaurant that deserves its status. Stylish building with Swedish decor. Waitstaff is promp, attentive, and dressed cutely in Swedish garb.
Food was prepared and tasted excellent. Prices were appropriate.
Bathrooms clean and upscale.
Ample parking.
Outdoor patio when weather permits.
Kitchen is very cognizant of food allergies.
We didn't eat at the restaurant since it was closing at 3:00. But we had some beers in the beer garden. Watched some goats on roofs and generally enjoyed a beautiful day.
They have some parking behind the building but nowhere near enough so the parking sucked, go find a free spot on the street.
The beers were good, the vibe was good so come grab a drink and food if you can and hang out in the beer garden, watch the boats on the lake and all the people watching goats. ????
