Best WLM Reviews
Good food and good services. Even these were not authentic Japanese foods, I enjoyed the ramen and sashimi with reasonable price. I can see why this restaurant is popular and it stands up with its good reviews. As a visitor to Rockville, I enjoyed my dinner!
It was good but then when I checked my bill transaction on my credit card, they changed the bill. The dishonest staff changed the bill. She increased her tip I guess. Whenever I ate outside with my friends, we see to it that we are giving the right tip percentage. And never we gave below 18%. We will never come back to this branch. I love the food but we can not stand the dishonesty. I'm sorry.
This isn't the first time I've tried to write a review and post pics about this place. But each time I don't have time to take pictures as my family eats everything faster than I can remember. Doesn't that say a lot? Delicious food, large portions, fast service, adequate prices! What more do you need? They recently upgraded the furniture and now there is a corner for large company. Perfect for a family!
The food was phenomenal. I ordered the Salmon Lover Roll as an appetizer and the Gyu Don as my entree.
The Salmon Lover roll was as expected. It had the right flavors, right texture, etc.
The Gyu Don was perfect. It has the right balance of flavor with the sauce. There wasn’t too much, there wasn’t too little. It was the perfect amount. It came with the miso soup. I’m not a miso soup person but it was definitely flavorful.
Unfortunately, I’m not a local to this area, but if I’m back in the area, this would be a place to definitely stop at. I do highly recommend coming here and grabbing food.
This is the first time I tried Akira Ramen in Rockville. I spend a lot of my time trying ramen in the DMV since moving back from Japan and I’d say Akira is definitely up there in the list! We started with karaage and the two sauces they gave us went really well with the chicken. We ordered the Akira ramen and the Akira Volcano and they were both so tasty. They have other dishes beside ramen which were really tempting and I am looking forward to come back and try them.
incredibly small speciality rolls for 17 dollars?? unbelievably expensive for such a low quality. would not recommend
I will preface this review by stating up front that I lived in Japan for a total of 13 years and have very high standards for Japanese cuisine that most places stateside do not live up to. I am happy to say that Akira made me very happy and nostalgic. The Ramen was prepared correctly using a boiling sink to cook the noodles separately from the broth and tare. The maguro tuna used in the sushi was also fresh and delicious. My wife ordered the gyoza which despite a little fancier then what you would typically get at an izakaya was legit. The only thing that seemed a little different was the karage chicken which was good but something seemed different about the outer crust. I would highly recommend visiting. I also loved hearing "irashimaste" again when entering an izakaya.
We had the California Roll and the Philadelphia Roll. The sushi was fresh and amazing. Tasted top tier.
I had the volcano Tonkotsu Ramen with extra egg and spicy sauce. It was AMAZING.
My daughter had the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen. She loved it and gave it a 5/5.
The server was great and on point. Great customer service. ????????
The prices were reasonable. Thanks for a first great ramen experience!!
Thanks for making our Mommy-daughter date great!!
