Local Japanese restaurant near The Mall in Columbia and I wish I had tried it out sooner.
Parking is across the street in the mall parking lot. Just be careful crossing the street.
Atmosphere is bright and welcoming, the decor has warm tones of nature with distinctive touches to let you know that you are in a Japanese restaurant.
Their hot bowls of ramen are very popular. Handmade noodles! Keep them coming!
Most bowls of ramen come piping hot to the table that the server needs to wear special gloves. All of the ingredients were presented to appeal to the eyes and very fresh. Each ramen comes with a delicious flavorful broth and in generous portions to fill anyone who is hungry.
Dipping sauces went well with the meals. We had two preteens and they loved the ability to mix and taste a variety of flavors and textures. The birthday girl also happened to get a cute complimentary dessert.
I would definitely come back, perhaps during a less busy time of the week. The service was quick, helpful explanations were easily provided and the prices were quite reasonable.
Definitely a must try.
I like this branch way better than the white marsh branch. This place can be busy but they are still able to manage their customers and the seating capacity.
They offer good variety of meals. They taste good and exquisit as well. ❤️ Now thinking about it. I always have great experience here vs dining in white marsh. ????????♂️ lemme give white marsh a 2 star review haha
I recently dined at Akira Ramen in Columbia, Maryland, and overall, it was a solid experience. The standout dish of the evening was definitely the Tan Tan ramen. The rich, flavorful broth and perfectly balanced spices made it a delight to eat. It was clear that the ingredients were fresh, and the noodles had a great texture.
On the other hand, the shrimp balls were a bit of a letdown. They lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for and came across as somewhat bland compared to the other dishes.
The atmosphere at Akira Ramen is cozy and inviting, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. The service was friendly and attentive, which added to the positive experience.
While the shrimp balls didn’t quite hit the mark for me, the Tan Tan ramen more than made up for it. I’d definitely recommend trying the ramen if you’re in the area and looking for a satisfying bowl of noodles.
The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent! Today I tried the “Karaage ramen”, “Fried Oysters” and “Miso clams”!
Enda and Sarah were wonderful.
Thank you
This is one of our go to Japanese restaurants.
Tasty foods with consistency.
Fresh seafood like always.
Young and vibrant ambience with efficient service.
Price is reasonable and comparable to other Japanese restaurants.
This location is especially good , close to the mall and next to bubble tea place and also ice cream shops.
Highly recommend by @winedinenvacay
Inexpensive yet authentic Ramen and small eats. Staff super courteous and patiently answered all our questions.
Overall clean with plenty parking in vicinity.
I came here on vacation and noticed a lot of Akira Ramen restaurants, so I decided to try one with friends. As a vegetarian, options can be limited, but I was pleasantly surprised by the appetizers, especially the Avocado Tofu Salad—the sauce was incredible. Unfortunately, the vegetarian ramen was a letdown. We hoped for vegan broth, but it was bland, lacking salt or flavor, and resembled water. Despite this, the appetizers were excellent. I'd like to come back and try different broth options with the vegetarian ramen.
I ordered the Takoyaki and the Akira Volcano Ramen. As someone who has been to Japan numerous times, the food is incrediblely authentic and the staff are really doing their best. The experience and the food are both incredible. Kudos to the team!
