Budget Friendly and Fun Happy Hour in San Antonio! Ajuua has a great HH from 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday. We always get a bottle of wine ???? (only 15.00) and the Beef Empanadas and 1/2 order of the quesadillas to share! With this order your bill is less than 35.00 for 2 people! Ajuua also has drink specials available! We always sit in the bar area. Great budget friendly happy hour with a great vibe!
On June 20, wife and I had a couple drinks (cold, cold beer), chips and salsa (chips tasted store bought, but salsa was great). I had chicken fajitas, which were tender and the pepper and onions were sautéed perfectly. I've been to places where they were cooked so much they were flimsy and non-existent. My wife had the tacos nortenos, which she loved! The restaurant was mostly empty at dinner time, staff was wonderful and atmosphere was great.
We went back for dinner on Friday, June 21, to see if the crowd picked up and it was packed! Inside and on the patio. Staff were very busy and still friendly and attentive, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes to be seated. I had bean and cheese chalupas, which were stacked with cheese and tomato so I loved not having to request more cheese. Rice and borracho beans were good. My wife had the tres amigos enchilada plate. Only thing she did not like was the overwhelming cilantro in the verde sauce enchilada. Her favorite of the 3 was the chipotle cream sauce. Both nights they had a couple mariachis, but they even played house of the rising sun for someone, I was surprised! We enjoyed our visits and will definitely be back.
I hate doing this, but I have to be honest. When you’re in San Antonio, there are expectations for Mexican food. We ordered fajitas for two so we could build our own fajita bowls and tacos and were disappointed because the tortillas, chips, and even the queso tasted store-bought. The food was very underwhelming. The guacamole was excellent, to be fair, but otherwise, very bland in taste. The service was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly. But we will not be coming back.
First time we ever been here. Very clean, cozy atmosphere, the food amazing ???? Service was wonderful, attentive. Can't wait to visit again
First time here, there was nothing that we didn’t like. This a Mexican restaurant not Tex mex. Everything is fresh, we started with fresh chips and salsa and queso flameado surprisedly delicious . For drinks we have margarita and Smirnoff spicy with tamarindo excellent! Entries: sizzling fajitas, roasted filled poblano and steak with enchilada in chipotle sauce. Generous portions and we’ve tried their mole.. I have to take some home!! Authentic flavors. We ate it all. For grand finale we ordered churros with ice cream and flan so creamy! Kayse our server was excellent on point very friendly and sweet. We had the pleasure to meet their chef Roberto, we wanted to congratulate him for this excellent food experience.
Sundays they have brunch.
I was not expecting much but it is now one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food. Very highly recommended.
They have an outdoor area with lots of fans so it doesn’t get too hot in the evening.
I enjoyed Ajuúa, it's in a convenient location, the food and drinks are great as well. The service can be hit or miss sitting outside our waitress was spread thin so when we weren't ordering drinks we had to flag her down for the check other than that their wait staff has been pretty attentive. It's hard to go wrong ordering off their menu but one appetizer that pleasantly surprised me were their wings I would usually never think to order them from a Mexican restaurant but no exaggeration they were top notch.
For our first time here, the service was excellent ???? , the food was so tasty and very well cooked. La michelada muy bien preparada. El queso was yummy ????.
This is my 2nd time coming here for Sunday brunch. To be honest, both times the restaurant was half empty, which it’s never a good sign. The service was ok, it’s buffet after all and you serve yourself, but the waitress checked on me 3 or 4 times, which it’s good.
Be aware coffee, iced tea or any other drink are not included in the buffet price, which it’s $14.95 +tax per adult. Not a bad price for buffet.
Here’s what I liked: pozole, despite being watery and having lots of corn, the flavor was excellent. Oh, and they only have little cups for it, no bowls at all. So if you’re lucky, you’ll get 4 pieces of meat in that little cup. Haha! If you really like pozole, you may need 2 cups of it and make sure you don’t get all corn and no meat. No diced onions or peppers to accompany it though. No oregano either.
Chile relleno was really good, they only have the cheese kind, not ground beef, but they were really, really good.
Chicken mole was also good, small pieces of chicken (bone-in) though but mole sauce was really good.
Fried beans had good flavor.
Papas con chorizo were good, but cold, ugh.
Rice pudding was ok.
Salsa roja, salsa verde & pico de gallo were good.
Green salad was good. Did not see any salad dressing though.
What I didn’t like: egg dishes were cold, same with other dishes I tried last time.
Bacon strips were chewy.
Carnitas were chewy and had no flavor. Barbacoa was nothing special.
Tortillas are cold, it’d be much better if the waitress brought tortillas to your table, in a tortilla warmer pouch or a tortilla warmer server( tortillero), that way they’re not cold when you try making tacos with them.
Mexican rice had no flavor.
I didn’t try all their dishes and not sure if I’ll come back for brunch again honestly.
