Aji Ichiban is cozy spot with authentic, fresh food, made to order. It's like you’re back in Japan, with no frills—just good, honest food. If you enjoy authentic food, service and ambience, this is a great find!
Great food, friendly service, and great selection. We sat down and enjoyed our time here. Shared the appetizer combo. It was delicious. The food portions are large enough that we didn’t finish them in the restaurant. Looking forward to returning on our next visit to enjoy more dishes.
A cute little hole-in-the-wall place! Helped me not to miss Japan so much, the food has a homemade feel to it. The only thing I didn't like is that they were playing the politics channel inside for everyone and I was hoping to get away from all of that commotion.
First time dining here. Very friendly service. A little slow but worth the wait for the lumpia & bulgogi! The clear soup and salad were not good, but the other 2 dishes more than made up for it! Looking forward to trying other dishes in the near future.
Greatest little hideaway restaurant! Service may be a tad bit slow because there is only 1 waitress who takes orders, checks you out, does the take-out orders and serves you! But you will have the best meal for a decent price, just don't be in a rush!
Super cozy hole in the wall with great service and great food. I live in Wilmington and whenever I come up that way I always go to Aji Ichiban. The katsudon is amazing and I got a purple yam cheesecake this time which was possibly the best cheesecake I've ever had.
Ordered Chicken Yakisoba for myself and Gyudon for the Mrs. The Yakisoba was so salty I really couldn't taste much else. I wound up with an upset stomach within a couple of hours. Gyudon is supposed to be simmered beef and onions served over rice. The "Gyudon" she was served was pan fried, the onions were burnt black, and it just tasted like soy sauce. Staff was friendly and it's cheap, but you can get better Japanese food elsewhere in town for the same price thats actually authentic.
The real winner here is the Sampler listed under appetizers. Dumplings, Lumia, chicken yakisobi and the best fattest egg rolls I've ever had. If I had to do it all over again, for the 2 of us, I would be ordered the sampler and a side of rice.
I ordered the Bulgogi which came with huge portions of broccoli, white rice and potato chunks. Comparatively, there was very little actual meat in the dish, maybe 4 or 5 small bites.
4 stars for great quick service, our waitress was super friendly and attentive and the food was hot and freshly made.
