Fantastic Fry! The fried crab bites and catfish are especially good. The sausage tastes good as well which is to be expected when you responsibly slather Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce on a meat lol. For dessert, the peach cobbler and pecan dish with vanilla ice cream was a nice finish.
Coca-Cola is the drinks vendor here so that means there's Sprite on tap! They don't serve alcohol here but that doesn't mean the place is BYOB.
While I don't know if the restaurant has live performances, one can't deny there is a honky aesthetic that is consistent throughout the large hall. Bathrooms are very clean, cleaner than the table when we first sat down to eat in fact. My main gripe though are the styrofoam plates and weak forks.
All in all Bills Smith's Buffet provided a great outing and service for me and my friends on a Friday night (for only $20) and I am grateful.
Ate here Friday night, June 16th, 2023, with my wife and father. We arrived around 5:30 pm seeing a full parking lot but upon entering we found there was ample seating for another 50 guests. This place has lots of seating.
We were seated immediately and asked if we needed menu's. We said we were here for the buffet upon which are drink orders were taken and we were invited to hit the buffet.
They have a pretty nicely well stocked salad bar although it was iceberg lettuce primarily. My favorites were potato salad, antipasto salad, and cottage cheese.
Next was the main course items. All of the items were deep fried. Non fried items were behind me on the wall. There was a potato bar and a few other items. Although the main course was all deep fried it was all pretty dang good. I would like to have seen a lot more non fried items but that's me.
The shrimp was good as was the catfish.
Our drinks were never empty.
The dessert bar was also tasty. I had the apple pie with soft serve ice cream. The kids around us kept coming back to that!
A few negatives: we were seated on the edge of the dining area and had to contend with a lot of people walking by us and the place was warm. A little more A/C would have been nice.
All in all this was a good dining experience and we will be back.
For the three of us the bill came to under $60.
Without a doubt the BEST experience on the lake!! Great food, lots of it, lots of choices and pleasantly served!! You have GOT to try it!!!
I liked the food, large selection however the catfish was under cooked. I got a piece and broke in half and the fish was clear instead of nice and white and flakey so just thought oh well went back got a fresh piece just brought out and it was clear inside as well. I think they are cooking it on too high of heat and too fast. As I said everything else was good.
Food was okay very light on seasoning if you like fish with no seasoning that's the place to go
Service was great, and everything on buffet was fresh, cooked and seasoned just right. Fish was my fave, and my wife, who is from Louisianna, said booiled shrimp were seasoned and cooked to perfection!
Buffet style can be iffy, but this place rocks it! Catfish was great, very crispy. Shrimp were good, especially popcorn shrimp. Good selections of sides. Best chicken and dumplings I've had in a long time. Very fresh salad bar; only complaint is that several of the fried items we're already cold 10 min after they opened. Cobblers are always good.. Will definitely go back.
First time to eat at ,since it was change to Bill's. Everything was good. Sad that the catfish is not the real American farm raised catfish, but the imported Asian swai or some other species. Want go back. TK , Cooper, TX
