I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! The team was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. What really stood out to me was the fast service; they completed my braids in record time without compromising on quality. The results were stunning, and I received so many compliments afterward! If you're looking for a place that values your time and delivers beautiful braids, I highly recommend. I will definitely be returning!
Aisha is a whole vibe, and I would come back just for her TBH. This is an African salon, so as the original artists for black hair, the ladies will make sure you leave looking tight and fresh. I was a walk-in, and was in the chair in 10 minutes.
I was wearing a bright orange sweatshirt with paint splatter design. This was my first time getting hair done professionally. Style looks bomb and Aisha even worked with her stylists to cut me a deal after I failed to realize I was supposed to wash and detangle before coming. I paid for that with my pain and blood (WAY too tight in the front caused bleeding from my scalp, purposefully rough, but free, wash and blow-dry that probably caused breakage) but style is crispy so I’ll be back.
I’ll just wash and detangle myself before I get there this time and be more vocal about how I want it. Literally showed the lady a pic for 10 seconds and she slayed though.
Trust me, you do NOT need to have your hair done here. If you value haircare, consistent hair styling, respect, integrity. Then this is NOT the braiding shop to give your money to. I’ve visited here 5times to have cornrow styles done to my hair. 3 of those times was with a talented and kind hairstylist. The experiences were okay so I returned. The other 2 plus my most resent visit have made it clear that I should not be patronizing this shop. Most of the Braiders are rude, have body odor and lack respect for the people they service. The shampoo capes, combs and styling products are NOT up to state-board code and are not clean. Oftentimes being used from one client to the next, a HUGE SANITATION NO-NO. The pricing is inconsistent. The styling is inconsistent. If you want braids just find somebody else to do it you will not regret NOT coming here. Your scalp and peace of mind will thank you.
I also didn't read the reviews before I went in.
Braider heavy-handed. Check. I took Aleve before my hair was finished there in the salon and for five days after.
Uneven braid parts. Check. Big parts at the back/middle. Small parts in front.
Loud and noisy. Check. I had to play YouTube on my phone without an earpiece - at least, I could understand what I was listening to.
Will not return. Check. I don't need to take pain killers for five days because I got my hair braided. I gave two stars because braider did provide me with Aleve and said "sorry" a few times thereafter when I winched in pain.
The skillset levels between braiders vary WAY TOO MUCH for my liking. Extremely disappointed in my last visit!
Braids are super thick and clunky, unlike my reference picture. Braider put entirely too much gel and for less than 24hrs out of the shop, my braids already look sloppy, uneven, and you can see the hair already coming out of the braid. Paid $80 and even left a $10 tip because I’m not a savage. l've gotten this exact same style before and it didn't look like this. Braids don't even lay on my neck right because of the size. If I didn't have to leave town in a few hours, I would have had her take them down in the chair but there would have been no time and I didn't want to be "that person". I went back and forth about writing this review but honestly, every time I look in the mirror I get upset. If this saves just one person from the feeling that I’m feeling, I’ll be the bad guy.
I requested small-medium knotless braids. The braids have knots and are unbearably tight. When I asked the braider if the braids were knotless, she sucked her teeth. My parts are also sloppy and inconsistent in size, and my middle part is not straight. When asking the braider to fix the middle part, which she did, she also sucked her teeth. I also had big parts/braids in the back and small and medium parts/braids in the front. I called the shop requesting to have my hair fixed/redone and was told the same braider would have to do it, which didn't make sense as they couldn't do it the first time.
The pain, knots, and inconsistent parting method made it impossible for me to pull my hair back. The difference in the braids near each ear and the size difference between the front and back braids added to my discomfort. The physical discomfort caused by the service is unacceptable.
Furthermore, I was misled about the boho style. All the pieces added to achieve the boho look were only added to the top of the hair, giving the impression of a curly bob. Most of these pieces also fell out as they were not adequately secured in the braid.
This experience has been a disappointment and I would not recommend it to others.
For a service that was both mediocre and inconsistent, the price of 260+ is simply not justifiable.
These are the most perfect braids I have ever gotten done. Small, waist length knotless with a 3 color blend. Karen did a great job. She was kind, ensured it wasn’t too tight, didn’t add a lot of hair to the braids as requested to ensure they aren’t heavy. Two other ladies hales braid down. I walked in at 745 walked out at 1pm. I’ll be coming back again soon! Reasonably priced for what I received. Thanks Karen!
I’ve been hearing about this salon for a while because my cousin has gotten her hair done here before. Well this is my first time and the service was great. Once I walked in was asked what I wanted and immediately was giving a braider. Mind you i walked in at 12:40PM and was able to be serviced this is unheard of. Also the price is unbeatable. I wanted a custom color and they were able to make it for me. They can do whatever you bring in, there may not be pictures to prove their work but trust me. They will get it done. It’s worth it.
