A big hotel with lots of rooms available. The guys managing the hotel are very friendly and quite helpful. They've kept the hotel in a traditional old school look and it feels quite good in there. The locality is not so good but if you can ignore that, the rest of the stay will feel good. Very close to Bart station as well as bus stops so commute is also very easy from here. Will definitely come back to stay again.
Honestly, the value is not compatible with the place. It needs renovations, there were no soaps or shampoo as usual in hotel rooms, the bed made me itchy, the location is great, but the amount of homeless people was afraid to leave very late, so I ended up in the room after it got dark. Of course this is not the fault of the Hotel but of the California government that does nothing. But maybe if they make a renovation it will make a big difference.
toilet was flushing nonstop for more than an hour. hotel is advertised as having a parking lot onsite however this is not the case. even though the hotel makes it abundantly clear that they don’t have one anymore, the lack of consideration to make clear the confusion and provide some reimbursement for overnight parking, or the poor toilet situation was a little rude. the manager simply did not care.
I booked this hotel with Booking.com, when checking in I was informed that my room is not available. The reception staff was not helpful at all in trying to solve the situation. It was a very uncomfortable experience and I was told by the reception that it’s my problem to find another hotel and ask Booking for refund. Very upsetting experience.
If you're looking for a hotel that comes with most modern features, this is probably not the one for you. It's a quaint 111 year old building and with a similar charm. The staff was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.
This hotel is in a great location of you're prepared to deal with the a-typical inner city issues that most major cities have. You're in walking distance to hundreds of restaurants a well as the downtown shopping district. It's nestled in between the Trans district and the historical Folsom area. The cable car stop is right in front of the hotel giving you easy access to the Castro, Chinatown and Fisherman's Warf.
Perfect for the price considering it's location and the fact that you'll probably not be spending too much time there as you'll want to be out exploring all of what San Francisco has to offer!
The place is old obviously, but it was nice, clean and quite inside. Staff was awesome. Super friendly. Room I booked has two full beds and a private bathroom. Room was clean and spacious. You can pretty much jump on any bus, rail or the subway right out front.close to alot of store. A few downsides, there was no microwave in the room. Not too big of a deal for us though. Wasn't thrilled to be right on market street, gets kinda noisy outside, especially if you are in a front facing room like we were. Not the hotel's fault. I didn't exactly check the location before I booked. Again not too big a deal unless your a light sleeper. There is no free parking around really and if you do happen to find a spot on the street it us only for a few hours and not really recommend. You can park in front to load/unload which is nice. There are a few paid parking lots a block or two away, but can be a bit pricey if staying longer then a day or two. The neighborhood is kinda sketchy but there are security and police everywhere. Overall it's a nice place to stay. Definitely would not drive my car next time. Better to take a train or bus next time I visit. Won't have to worry about parking.
When you reach the entrance in front of the main street, you need to knock the front door. Now, the front door is always closed in order to enter the hotel. Staff member was friendly. Although the hotel is very old, repair of the rooms is proceeding. I love this hotel. You can access easily from the civic center station of BART in one minute.
The rate was good for SF and it was clean & quiet. The location is across from Civic Center Bart on Market which likely explains the cost & if you mind your own business, it's not a problem. The room was small but had lots of soap & extra towels in my closet. The staff was nice. The TV was analog so channels were super limited but I stayed only one night so that wasn't the problem it could have been. I'd say all things considered including my own bathroom & the price, I guess it wasn't bad.
