Great tacos and margaritas! The Birria taco was so delicious and I loved that the seafood tacos come on squid ink infused tortillas! They have plenty of gluten free options and all the varieties of margaritas we tried were wonderful. Also loved the prices, it’s way more affordable than a lot of places in Denver! And the quality for the price, just can’t beat it
Great dog friendly patio. Lamb Birria taco was definitely our favorite, and we both thought the Al Pastor was missing pineapple chunks. The place is very affordable, for 6 tacos and a margarita we paid $56 with a tip. We will be back
We’ve been coming here for over 5 years and the staff was what made things amazing (and the margs). We were so sad to go the other day and see that Val and the crew were gone because of the owners tax evasion troubles. They were the best staff ever and the food and drinks are not the same. I would recommend against supporting Agave’s current owner (or Wash Park Grill for that matter)
Beautiful restaurant, misters outside if it’s hot, the bar is nice, and the service is great. The El Pastor is um…. Odd. At first we thought it was the wrong order. Everything else looked great and they have a great happy hour. Definitely recommend, avoid the el pastor.
Fun place with good tacos, got some nachos and margs on happy hour this last time. Servers paid attention and were friendly and fun. Margaritas were good and well priced for happy hour. Been here a few times and always had a good time.
This is my third time with this restaurant, and I can say its a solid establishment
The first time, I ordered an Al Pastor burrito to go, and I was highly disappointed. It was like 50% beans and 50% rice. And the beans felt fake and so thick.
However, this second and third time I went back, I actually sat down in the beautiful outdoor Colorado weather. I loved the look of the location, especially for late-night dates. That Latino aesthetic really makes for a fun environment. The food was absolutely spectacular and the drinks were alright! It was very pricey and not a vast selection, but I still liked it
I plan to come again for the food and hopefully I will have a better experience
If you're looking for a cozy, authentic taco bar with incredible food and drinks, Agave Taco Bar is an absolute must! From the moment you walk in, you're hit with the perfect mix of warmth and charm -- the place has such a quaint, welcoming vibe. It's the kind of spot you can easily settle into and feel right at home, with friendly staff and a laid-back atmosphere.
Let's talk about the drinks -- their spicy margarita is nothing short of amazing! It's the perfect balance of heat and flavor, with just the right amount of kick to make it exciting but not overwhelming. If you're a fan of spice, this margarita is a total game-changer! Plus, the bartender even offered to add more spice. Yes please!
But the true star of the show? The queso with chorizo. I'm honestly struggling to find the words for how good it is. It's otherworldly. The cheese is rich and creamy, and the chorizo adds such a bold, savory kick -- together, it's an unforgettable combination that pairs perfectly with the crispy tortilla chips. You'll find yourself dipping your fingers in it.
If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. Whether you're there for a casual dinner or a fun night out with friends, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to come back for more queso and margaritas!
And overall poor dining experience.
I have not been in years, and will never be back. It used to be halfway decent.
The only thing that we all liked was the chips and salsa. Two of us got the smothered burrito. Which cost an extra $4 to have smothered.. And was supposed to include green chili and cheese. There was minimal cheese and I'm not even sure if there was green chili. If they applied it, they applied it with some kind of butter basting brush... As was basically nonexistent.
And two others had the tacos. Which apparently were bland.
The waiter did not know the menu at all. And even had a difficult time taking our order when we told him what we wanted - We actually had to show them where it was located on the menu. Before he could enter it in.
And if you're gonna have bad food, at least have decent drinks... that would've been nice...
And then to add insult to injury when they hand you the electronic device to pay your bill. The minimum tip amount was 20%. With the other two being 25 and 30%. I mean for God sakes the waiter didn't even know the menu. You don't get 20% just for showing up. I had to find the other button and give 15%. Which was generous for the service we received. I mean, one of the basics of being a waiter is actually knowing the menu. Right?!?
And we were sitting inside and they had the evaporative cooler on full blast so it was basically like a wind tunnel. We should've asked to move as there were plenty of seats inside and on the patio. So that's on us - so that's why the one star for atmosphere. But again that's probably on us.
Maybe it was an off night, but none of us will ever go back.
