Best WLM Reviews

AFURI IZAKAYA SE is a great place in Portland! Their signature yuzu ramen is perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor, while the small plates, like the karaage and skewers, are equally delicious. The warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and excellent sake and cocktails make it a fantastic spot for any occasion.
Good service but not very good food. Servers are either really good or really fishing hardcore for tips. My ramen was missing a few ingredients that were listed which was fine but an appetizing glob of boiled spinach made the whole dish kind of odd. Chicken tasted like regular rotisserie chicken breast so ehhh. Probably won’t go back, so many other spots in town actually worth the money.
My girlfriend was excited to try this place out since it’s fairly new on our list.
We arrived on early dinner time during father’s day and was immediately sat down on the bar.
First of all, Yuzu-Tsukemen was amazing. Warm thick noodles with the broth sauce was seasoned just right perfected with the yuzu kick. Amazing. The only down point was the overcooked bamboos, it lacked the chewy texture.
On the other hand, Yuzu-Shoyu ramen was softer in flavor compared to the Tsukemen. The broth was gentle enough to really enjoy the mixture of yuzu, shoyu, and broth dancing with each other. Personally, I think the pork broth was too strong from the balance between the yuzu, yet, it was a new taste that felt enjoyable.
Overall, the modern Japanese wood texture as a key point really enlightened the experience, making it emotionally memorable.
I will come back here next time for that Tsukemen for sure!
Came here for my birthday in April and had an excellent meal! Everything was amazing from the ramen to the sushi, sake and desert. We had Kara-Tsuyu Tsukemen* VEO (the pork belly was to die for, I dream about this ramen often) Karaage (had fresh kosher egg salad under it that was bomb) Yaki Gyoza, Tuna Takaki Steak, and my personal favorite Salmon Tataki! I also got the Cabin in the Snow sake and it was delicious. 10/10 meal. My GF and I talk about this place all the time and will definitely be visiting again next time we are in town! Thanks for the awesome food and good vibes ????
Beautiful place, good service, but the food was alright. We’ve had ramen half the price of here that we’ve liked a lot more, but it was still good. We didn’t like a couple of our appetizers.
Great
I tried the TORIGARA SHOYU I loved the broth it tasted so rich and there was a spicy aftertaste. Wasn’t a big fan of the chicken. Overall, I would go again to try the other ramens.
I was excited to try this place out as I really enjoyed afuri in Japan. Firstly, it says izakaya in the title of this place but it doesn't really feel like a Japanese izakaya at all, it just feels like a restaurant. We got a negitoro roll and it was very good. I ordered a yuzu tsuyu tsukemen. It was ok, not bad but nothing like the one I had in Japan. What was most dissapointing to me was the attitude of the chefs. We were sat at the bar area right in front of the chefs so we could see them clearly. They all seemed very uninterested in what they were doing. They were yawning and it definitely seemed like they were not paying attention to cooking. They also got our order wrong and had to redo it.
Really big menu with a variety of ways to dine!
A touch nouveau on some dishes -works well with some sushi and appetizers and dessert but ramen should be more traditional.
The Omakase was well worth the price- a ton of food, lots of variety that would be hard to replicate loose ordering.
Sake pairing was good but slow to arrive.
