Best WLM Reviews

I placed a pick up order through Uber Eats, Although I did see the price and thought that it was kind of insane I really wanted to try this food and this was the closest place to me. I did have to drive about 30 minutes. Upon arriving, I was not greeted by the bartender that was at the bar She was occupied On the phone I didn’t care too much because I was just wanting to eat. Once I received my food, I was a bit surprised when I saw how small my serving was mind you this was a $30 plate ($26 to be exact) . I ordered the egusi soup with the pounded yam ($6.00). When I finally made it back home, I was excited to try it because of TikTok, of course The food tasted very delicious There is a spice to it. There was a decent amount of meat, but my complaint is that this is not worth about $30 Serving is much too small for that portion. I did I enjoy it but because of the price that is tagged alongside the portion I will have to make this a rare occasion treating rather than adding it to my regular take out places. I wish I could rate it higher but the price is just not reasonable.
We have been coming to this restaurant for years and atleast once a month we either dine in but mostly pick up... last night was the first time I was so disappointed on the service. I picked up my order and this lady charged me 20% gratuity without even asking. Automatically add to my order... mind u I drive 30 mins from Chesterland just to pick up and go back home, I didn't sit there and use ur dishes neither u have to serve it to me. But the audacity of her when I asked, she said "oh its picked up charge"... since when did u guys charged for pick up... and then she showed me the menu on the side it's says Automatically charged 20% but wait that should be apply for dine in not pick up... it was a long day at work and I don't have any energy to contest but I felt really upset... Don't get me wrong I do time tip but the way u did it felt so shady... I dont want to come anymore.
A friend of mine suggested this place to me after I complained it's so difficult to get a nice walk in an African (especially Nigerian ) restaurant. Their food here is so much better compared to the similar restaurants I have visited in the past. I am glad they are on Doordash, but I tried checking them out just in case I needed to place an order soon but I can't find their store there. Kindly check it out pls.
I honestly have no complaints about this place. I guess I have found a go-to spot.
During our recent visit to Afrika, the restaurant's atmosphere caught us off guard. The interior was very quiet and a bit dark, which contrasted with the beautiful artwork and décor. The chairs were charming but felt a bit flimsy for someone of my larger size, affecting my comfort slightly. The restaurant was almost empty, with just one other person dining, contributing to the serene, albeit unusual, ambiance.
We ordered a variety of dishes to get a comprehensive taste of their offerings:
1. Jollof Rice with Goat Meat: This dish was outstanding, with the goat meat stealing the show. The flavors were rich and satisfying, earning it a solid 9 out of 10. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered an appetizer portion of just the goat meat to take home.
2. Red Snapper with Plantains: The red snapper was beautifully seasoned and flavorful, meriting a 7 out of 10. However, the sides left something to be desired. The plantain slices were thin, almost bacon-like, and the single slices of cucumber and tomato seemed inadequate.
3. Egusi with Fufu: This traditional dish was good, but not to my personal taste, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. My family siblings would rate it an 8/9 out of 10, For someone who enjoys tripe, this rating might be higher.
4. Additional Orders: We also took home another soup with pounded yam and extra jollof rice, further showcasing our appreciation for the goat meat and the overall quality of the food.
Despite some minor flaws, the food at Afrika was generally well-seasoned and delicious, which is crucial for my palate. The restaurant’s unique atmosphere might be better suited for a different time of day, as it also functions as a lounge and might have a livelier vibe in the evenings.
*Overall Rating: 5 out of 5*
This rating reflects the mixed experience of an unusual atmosphere and some lackluster sides, balanced by the excellent main dishes. As this was my first experience with African cuisine, I found it a great introduction and would recommend trying it, especially during the day if you're there for the food rather than the lounge experience.
If you're in Cleveland and craving authentic African cuisine, look no further than Africa Taste Lounge on Mayfield. My recent visit to this vibrant spot was an absolute delight from start to finish.
We ordered the egusi with fufu, red snapper, and jollof rice, and each dish was nothing short of exceptional. The egusi soup was rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of spices. The fufu was smooth and complemented the soup beautifully. The red snapper was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And the Jollof rice was a good pairing for all the other dishes!
But what really stood out was the staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and attentive service. They made recommendations, ensuring that we had an amazing dining experience. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Overall, Africa Taste Lounge is a gem in Cleveland, offering delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a taste of African cuisine.
Amazing food and decor, waitress was great! Definitely plan on going again. The food to awhile to come out. Happened to come on a wine tasting so follow YogaByLola_ on ig, her wine is delicious! Had the Goat Burrito
I enjoyed my first experience to this place. This was my first time trying this culture regarding food. I had the hakuna mutata drink and loved it. I ordered the lamb dinner. This was my first time having jollof rice. I enjoyed. My only complaint is my Plantains are dry and my cheesecake was extremely small. The gratuity added to every check is unnecessary especially for a party of two, however I understand everyone needs to be paid. I do recommend but I won’t return
The tortilla wrap I ordered was horrible! I had tasted one earlier from a friend which tasted great and I then decided to order mine. On getting home, just looking at the dough I could tell the difference, every single part of the shares ma tasted horribly. It shows how inconsistent the food here is. I wont buy again!!!!
