**AfriKa Fusion Update 4/26/2024**
While AfriKa Fusion's storefront appears to be closed, there's a chance they might be taking their delicious Kenyan cuisine elsewhere! I recently made the trip from Houston specifically for their food, but found the doors locked.
On the bright side, I spoke with someone who seemed like the owner, and they were busy receiving a grocery delivery. This could hint at a shift towards catering – which would be fantastic news! AfriKa Fusion's flavors are too good to keep off the scene entirely. Here's hoping they'll be serving up amazing Kenyan food in a new form soon.
Came here because of the hype on TikTok saying it’s a African Buffett it’s not, I don’t see where they could put a buffet the way it was set up.
Food: the food was Mediocre nothing to rant and rave about. The fufu seems like it needed a little more pounding it was sticky and messy not come coming off your hands when it should be more like a firm slime. And the grilled chicken had little to no seasoning My only complaints
Service: service terrible. We had a lady she came and took our order rather quickly but it took 30+mins for our food to come out we didn’t order drinks we only had water we didn’t get a refill on that. She took an extra 5mins to bring out silverware after the food been brought out. Never checked on the table to see if everything was ok the food was good or anything. We had some guy bring us ketchup for my daughter’s fries. She took forever to bring a to go box and even longer to bring a check we kept asking other workers to get our waitress.
Atmosphere: it was cool we came about 7pm mind u it’s me and my 2 daughters (11 and 14) it’s a bar atmosphere so when 9pm rolled around lights went out music blasted. It’s extremely cold I mean air blasted. Regular patrons walking in or sitting in there with big winter coats on.
Come to this place at your own risk don’t bring kids after 8 because service is slow and it’s just an adult vibe. Food alright prices is ok. But what I didn’t like is they included gratuity in the bill and the service was horrible
We ordered grilled chicken (unseasoned) jallof rice and fries
Goat stew jallof rice and pounded yams (should’ve been cooked longer and pounded more)
Chicken Kenyan rice and plantains
So I am not sure if the owner looked at all the bad reviews and decided to change some stuff up because I have nothing but good things to say. I ordered delivery and it arrive within about 40 minutes. The food was hot and fresh, like it just came off the grill. Everything tasted so good! The oxtails were full, and juicy. The chicken was tender and not dried out. The rice was spicy but not too spicy so good for me personally. I can’t eat crazy spicy foods. The fufu was good I think. This was my first timing having fufu so I’m not sure what to compare it. It wasn’t too mushy but it wasn’t slimy either. It was a good texture. Also get the plantains!
Honestly I almost didn’t want to order because of some of the reviews. But I’m so happy I did because everything turned out great!
Excellent food....good vibes!!! I been coming here for years when located at different part of suite but mainly for Samosas. Decided to finally visit and really experience the menu and boy was I not let down. The goat...to fries...to beer...to afrobeats tunes in background..to great custom service the Mrs and I were satisfied! Now it was tab bit higher than I wish but who dosen't like low cost food so don't let that discourage you (Dine-in, family of 4)
I've been here twice now. Same Waiter both times, Robert. He made me and my family feel comfortable and welcome. His suggestions are SPOT ON! I don't think there is anything on this menu that is not amazing. I've tried 6 or 7 entrees and 4 different appetizets...I've left full with leftovers everytime! The platters are huge, easily shareable if they weren't so yummy. They do have hookahs available, and I have yet to try those. Full bar available. Very friendly crowd. Again, the good is amazing!! Wish they were closer to home!! We would definitely be regulars.
I always look at comments before I order so I knew there would be a wait and I didn’t mind. So I usually place my order and come about 45 min -1 hour later but it’s so worth the wait! I’ve got the oxtail which is incredible and for my sides I usually get creamer spinach and fufu. Also because I love the texture of the chapati I’ll get that as well. I’ve also tried chicken and the jollof rice and so far I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from here! I’m excited to try more. The price is very reasonable!
This place is looking so much better than before, more luxury and space..
The DJ plays Nice music. It's just a cozy place to have a good time.
They automatically add gratuity to your bill so be aware.
If you want a variety of delicious African food then this is the place on Sundays for their extensive buffet selection. Everything I tried was excellent!
