I wanted to give a non biased review. So I waited. First the location is in a good spot. The inside of the shop is not welcoming at all. The pics on Google must be old. I stood by the front counter for a few mins waiting to be approached. I was rudely approached and was told to “Go sit”. I sat on the couch and felt like I was falling to the floor. The put together furniture was in bad shape. My bad knees hated me when it was time to get up. I explained the style I wanted and showed the picture which was feed in middle part braids. I was told I couldn’t get that style so respected the lady’s opinion due to her being a professional and I agreed to get knotless in the back. The Braider were EXTREMELY heavy handed which I expected due to it being an African shop so I knew that’s how it goes…. By the time I was done I was almost in tears my head hurt so bad ????. It has been a week now and my head is still very sore. The outcome of my hair is not what I expected and I dislike it but I am dealing with it. My braids are not flat. On the sides it looks like I have something holding them up and bent outward. Only thing I can say is the price was good. I can’t say I’ll NEVER go back but I don’t think it would be anytime soon. I’m not from here so I will most likely try some other Braider in the area. I included pics of what I asked for vs what I got.
Let me start off with saying my hair is absolutely beautiful! The braids look greatand I was serviced immediately. However, the experience was meh…. There were 4 ladies braiding my hair so I was in and out in about 4.5 hours. The braiders braid EXTREMELY tight! My scalp was on fire for days and I couldn’t put my hair up, pull it back or anything. Secondly, my parts are pick a parts and not square like the picture I showed them (no big deal). Third, my first big issue is how extremely loud they talk while they are doing your hair and the lack of communication with the customer. The ladies were talking so loud, laughing and carrying on it ruined the appointment for me. I know 100% they were talking about me and my short hair ????. Lastly, all my braids weren’t dipped and they were very stiff. They only dipped the ends and I had to redip them when I got home, which was extremely frustrating given the length of the braids. Last thing… my braids are extremely heavy! It hurts to put them up and causes so much tension.
Oh how I love my braids! Everything from booking to service was excellent. Great communication and my desired style looks just like the picture. I will be back. My girl Kanfi has blessed hands. Love Kine always a gem.
I waited a couple months to write a review, to avoid writing it out of emotion. I've been going to this shop for 6-7 years and didn't have an issue until this year. I asked for box braids at my last visit. The lady was very nice and my hair came out beautiful (I thought and in my opinion). However, when I get up to sit at the chairs where they dip the hair in hot water, 3another braider looked at me and started laughing and talking in her language and looking away as if I couldnt see or hear her. . This caused the other braiders to look over at me and start laughing as well. The lady who braided my hair and the rude lady with the flat nose started having a heated argument and started yelling at each other (noon stepped in to stop the mess) I'm sure the lady who did my hair was upset with the rude lady. How bold was she to look in my face and laugh. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!! I've seen this employee/braider in the shop several times and NEVER was there an issue. I was hurt, embarrassed,and angry at the same time. My hope is the owner/manager had a conversation with ther employees. I had a similar experience with someone else who braided my hair earlier this year. She was/is VERY good but she and her coworker made it obvious when they were talking in their language about me and laughing as well. I know her name but will not put it on here. I've never asked for her again and won't. I hope management has a talk with her employees. This should be a comfortable place to get your hair done, not a place to be made to feel bad or embarrassed. I'm thinking of going to black American braiders. I'd rather spend my money with people who make me feel welcomed.
Amazing service! Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Booking was easy to do. I drove 3.5 hours for this and will DEFINITELY do it again!
Great experience! I had my hair braided yesterday. I always had long Curly hair but lost it due to cancer treatments. It was quite the experience since I don't speak or understand African languages. But I was treated very well, the ladies where all very friendly and my braids turned out awesome. Very satisfied! I enjoyed seeing all the woman coming in and leaving with artwork hair, it was beautiful all of them. Thank you Kine and Anthea? I am sorry I probably spell it not right.
My braids didn’t last 2 weeks and they wasn’t willing to fix my hair! I lost over 15 box braids and they were 2 different sizes! They pulled out my hair in the back! My money doesn’t grow on trees! That was $200 down the drain!
I asked for kinky twist and brought the color of hair i wanted. I was told it was the wrong kind of hair. They had their own hair which was not the color I wanted, mot even close to the color I wanted. The hair they used on me for kinky twist was made out of a brillo pad. The hair is so stiff and hard it fills like 100% wool. It is very itchy, very very itchy. That was my fist visit there. My first hair experience in Louisville, i am new to the city. I guess that's how new customers are treated. Never Again!!! If I could take away some stars, there would be 0 stars.
