The braiders at this place will snatch out your edges!!!
I went there for the first time on June 2nd to get island twist. It was a hassle getting there and finding parking due to how busy the area is. I didn’t have a bad experience in the salon itself. They charged me $300 for human hair boho island twists which I thought was too much for the style but I desperately needed my hair done (Mind you I don’t have a full head of hair. My back and sides are shaved) During the service, the braider kept saying sorry because of my notions of the twists being too tight. I still don’t understand how or why a twisted style had so much tension. After a week, the tension from the twists subsided and I noticed that my hair
/ edges were snatched out from the roots because of how tight the twists were. I immediately reached out to the salon. They told me to come in so they can take a look after I sent in pictures. I live over an hour away so it’s no way I was driving back up there just for them to “look” at my hair. Also, the human hair boho pieces I paid an extra $100 for kept sliding out while I had this style. I deeply regret getting my hair done here. I am now left with bald spots on the sides of my head and all of my hair in the front is gone. I don’t recommend and if I could, I would love to receive a refund for what I paid since my hair is now damaged and so much of my hair was pulled out. Never again!!
Ive been going here for a year. I received some of the worst parts and box braids I've had in at least 5 years. I asked for them to be fixed and was told no because they look the same. I recognize this place is easy because of walk in hours but its not worth the time or money to go here. You never know which person is going to do your hair …they will waste your time and money. The picture is after 1 day….
Horrible, painful, and frustrating experience at ABC. I waited for over TWO HOURS to get my hair done, and was assigned to a braider who combed my hair with such forced that she scrapped my shoulder with the combs. After I asked her to comb more gently, she gave me the comb to do it myself. And then refused to do my hair. I was then assigned to a second “braider” who did not know how to braid (pics attached). In my THIRD hour at ABC, I picked up my purse and left. Such a traumatizing experience. AVOID ABC! These are honest reviews.
This was by far the worse experience I’ve ever had at any hairstyle establishment. I was recommended by a friend to go to this location and was highly disappointed. First, I came in with a photo of 6 cornrows I wanted and the First Lady I spoke to, told me my hair was “too short” (this isn’t true because my hair was shorter in the past and a previous hairstylist was able to give me 6 cornrows with my natural hair ONLY). I showed her the photo of my hair with the 6 cornrows and she proceeded to tell me to speak to the lady on the right side in the back. Second, I went to the lady and showed the lady the same photo and she told me she can do the 6 cornrows with synthetic hair. I then asked how much would she charged me for 6 cornrows and she said $180. I told her $180 is entirely too much for 6 cornrows, I have paid $80 at several different establishments in the past and she told me because my cornrows would be stitched. I waited for over an hour because there was 1 person there before me. Once that lady was done I got up and the hairstylist told me she was going to take another person that was there after me. I then told her this is inconvenient considering I had to pay for parking in DC. From there my parking ran out and I was not able to extend because I had already reached the 2 hour maximum for the day. So I ran the risk of receiving a ticket and the hair stylist had no care in the world. I finally get into her chair after waiting 2 hours and 40 minutes. She starts doing my hair and complains about my hair being too short. I felt her cornrowing my hair and the cornrow felt small compared to what I asked for. I asked her how many cornrows she was going to put in and she replied with an attitude “I don’t know”. The reason I stayed so long was because I wanted a design for my cornrows and it was hard to book anywhere else, and I needed it since I’m graduating today. I woke up this morning and realized she didn’t even part my hair center of my head, so at this point I was truly upset with the results because now it’s to late to get this fixed. I uploaded a photo of what I asked for vs. what I got. I hope this review helps others out there because I will never come back to this place or recommend to others.
Real time review: I am in the braiding center right now. I walked in at 10:30am and it is 2:38pm right now. I have not been seen. Today is my birthday and it seems I won’t be done until it’s time to cut the cake. I’m very disappointed. Something I will point out is that when very pretty or very famous girls like Razor From bad girls club comes for her hair, I am positive that this is not their experience. The techs have gotten lazy, and slower. They have been unable to accurately estimate how much longer they have. They will say 1 hour and have you wait 3 hours just because they don’t want to lose a client (client =$$) and you would think that for the huge inconvenience that you’d get a discounted price …. On the contrary, you get a $20 on top of your already high balance. All styles start at $200, you don’t even have to show them the picture. This establishment needs better management if they want to stay in business for many years to come. I will be posting about my experience on all my platforms and all my Facebook groups .
First, I blame myself for reading the reviews and still going to this place. Pray you get someone that can ACTUALLY braid & not play in your head like a child.
I showed them a picture of what I wanted (KNOTLESS BOHO) from their IG,& was quoted $340. The braider said she cannot do it as small as the picture. I said do the first braid let me check the size. It was medium. I asked for the price to be adjusted and she said no the braid she did was small. ???? then all of them try to gaslight me to believe it was small even after I pointed to two other clients with the size I wanted.
I should’ve left at that point but I thought let me tell her I want it short as in TOP OF MY BRA STRAP/SHOULDER LENGTH so I can get out faster.
Signs of someone who is unskilled at braiding: 1. Using half a jar of gel on my scalp
2. Parting the same section of hair over and over and over and over again. She spent so much time parting my hair that the other braiders had completed 3-4 clients before I was done….. with MEDIUM braids. A woman came in 3 hours after me and wanted the same style and she was out the door an hour before me.
3 gripping my scalp so tight to start a knotless braid. It’s KNOTLESS!! I should barely feel your hands. My entire head was in pain.. and I’m NOT tender headed. I looked around the shop and NOBODY was in pain.
4. Talking instead of doing my hair especially if she’s unskilled.
As you see the end result is complete TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!! took my money and sent me out the door. $340 I paid for a foolish unskilled woman to play in my head!!
I received nothing I asked for . I got waist length KNOT- KNOTLESS braids, with uneven parting.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! My hair was poorly done and the pain during and after is unbearable. I Kept telling the lady doing my hair to loosen her grip but all she said was 'sorry' and didn't do as requested as if sorry will take away the pain. I held on hoping the result after she's done will be worth the agony. I almost collapsed when I eventually looked myself in the mirror. And she had the audacity to ask if I liked the hairstyle ????. Not to mention they're quick to collect the money as soon as braiding starts. I am African and very tolerant but I've never seen such horrible service. The mockery, disrespect, and PAIN is not worth it. Ladies! Take your money ELSEWHERE!
I usually don’t discredit businesses run by POC… however , when I saw the “madam “ try to charge a young girl an extra $50 to put a few beads at the end of her braids… I was compelled to write a review. When you’re charging top dollar, I expect top tier service and a top tier establishment. Here’s what it looked like when I asked to use the restroom…
This was the Randolph location
