I have no complaints about the physicians of this practice. However, their front desk staff is terrible and their communication with their own physicians seems to be subpar.
I attempted to contact this office on several occasions for my baby’s 9 month well visit that the doctor wanted to do at 8 months but front desk would not permit. In addition, I was told that my baby was no longer eligible for specific vaccines even though their physician stated we met the guidelines. When I pointed out issues with communication, I was met with a condescending attitude and blamed for not calling every day. Needless to say, we changed to a different practice.
Friendly staff and close to home, so this place is convenient. I took off a star because they are always late to your appointment. The patient must be on time but they are never on time. This is an inconvenience as I often take a lunch break to run my kids over there and I’m often spending more time than I’ve allotted for what should be a quick in and out visit.
We love Dr Sheehan she's so knowledgeable and respectful we usually go in there morning early afternoon for appointments and the staff is amazing we went in the evening for our last appointment and I needed help at the front desk on our way out the one women working didn't even bother to get up and come to the window to help us just yelled across the office she didn't know what I needed and asked me to call the next day instead of getting some one to help or make any effort I guess they were about to close and she didn't want to be bothered when I said I'd rather not she said what?! and made me feel dumb I was really embarrassed I have 3 small kids one with special needs so it's a lot to bring them all I was already flustered and felt like we were drawing attention so i was very upset with my experience this time
First time at this location from moving out of state. Amazing experience, everyone I spoke to was so pleasant and amazing with my 4 month old. Night and day difference from our previous pediatricians office that I was with for my oldest. Dr. Wright was amazing and will continue to see her for all visits!
The front office staff has always been great with me, the nurses and Dr. I have come across have been very patient, considerate and welcoming to my child ensuring that she is well aware of whats happening during her appointment. So Thankful for them !
No need to mention the front desk, there are already plenty of reviews of that. However, a much bigger and more important issue is that their equipment is not calibrated. I would think twice about going here, especially with a newborn. If you are already a patient make sure when they do things like weigh your child they do it twice, and look at the numbers yourself. The past two times we went out baby's weight was significantly, and shockingly, different when weighed on the same scale three separate times. And then when measured on their scale a different weight was given. Two of the weights showed he was underweight, which is serious concern for babies in the first trimester. The other two weights showed he was over the recommended weight. Collectively this means...that we wasted time and effort even going.
Further, if they can't, or won't, calibrate something as easy to calibrate and maintain as a scale then it's extremely unlikely they calibrate more important things like (ex. sphygmomanometers). Most practices have people come in and regularly calibrate equipment specifically to avoid the major safety concerns arising from situations like at this practice, but apparently they don't. I actually thought it was a law, but apparently not.
TLDR: If you can't trust a licensed medical practice to get an accurate, or even repeatable, weight on your child, you probably shouldnt trust them to be able to do anything more complicated.
I've been going here for almost 6 years now. The only reason I haven't changed is because there aren't a lot of alternatives. If there's a term like "puppy mill" for doctors' offices, it applies here. Advocare appointments are overbooked, and the doctors run from one door to the next, always behind. The average time from the desk to out the door is probably 1h 15m. The time the Dr spends for a well or sick is maybe 10-18m. Rarely do you ever see an MD or DO.
Well visit:
10-30m in the waiting room
5m weight and vitals check
15-45m waiting for the doctor
8-10m of Chad's questionnaire
A quick 5-8m exam
5-10m vaccine run through.
Then you will normally wait another 5-20m for shots, hemoglobin stick, and vision afterward.
You can not get out of here in less than 45m. Add 30m for late-fall sick visits overflowing the schedules. Don't expect to book a well visit in December.
I've also gotten misinformation from the doctors. Example: HepB, (an STD like HIV), can be spread by a kiss on the cheek. Or that shots no longer contain aluminum.
All doctors/np/aprn today are pushed to do more, in less time, with less credentials, more shots given and more scripts written.
Doctors are wonderful! Front desk staff, however, is absolutely horrible. They highly prioritize their “business” well before the patient. Hopefully changes are made in the near future.
