My family and I booked our cabin back in June along with 7 other families booking cabins too. We did this every year for the past 5 years. We arrived at the campground Friday and were checking in at the front gate and the 2 woman there told us we could not have campfires this weekend due to the state of new jersey being in a stage 2 fire restriction. I asked why did no body contact us before we arrived telling us about this? Why were we not informed of this? This is a big deal, people go camping to sit around a fire to relax and talk. I called the front office and spoke with a supervisor and she was not helpful at all. Not offering any discount or anything for the inconvenience of not being able to have a campfire. I walked into my cabin their was no shelves on the door of the inside of my fridge, I called to ask for shelves, they said they didn't have any. I had to get a card to let my husband in because he had to leave and come back and went to open up the gate for him and the key card the front office gave me didn't work. Our oven did not work, we had food cooking for an hour opened it up and still ice cold. They told us we could use propane or charcoal for a fire. So we went out and bought a propane fire pit, used it all day Saturday and around 10:30 at night a security guard told us his manager said we couldn't use a propane fire pit. This was the most horrible experience at a place that we used to love coming to. I think they need to hire some new employees that know what they are doing and have some good customer service! Will NEVER come back here again!!!
Been coming here for years with my family. Always plenty of fun activities for the kids. We have a great time because we understand this is not a 5 star hotel and we expect the cabin to be minimal. We are camping and expect things to not be perfect. Also, I'd like to address some of these other reviews regarding the recent "no fires allowed" complaints. It is a STATEWIDE FIRE BAN. It's not the campgrounds fault. Nor is it their responsibility to inform everyone before they get there. Do your own research. Watch the news, listen to the radio, read about it. There are signs all over the highway that even spell it out for you. We still went. Brought a propane griddle. Brought a propane fire pit. Had a great time. Get over yourselves.
Amazing place. We go there twice a year and we always rent a cabin. Their cabins are always clean and well maintained. There are two bedrooms- one with a bunk bed and one with a queen size bed. There is also a sofa in the main room. Kitchenette and bathroom are very clean. The pool and the splash pad are wonderful. There are a lot of activities for the kids (train rides, crafts, games, glow stick parties, gem mining, bouncy house, new playground) not only on the weekends but also throughout the week. The employees are very helpful and friendly. They have free snacks and drink by the splash pad around 2pm. My kids are never bored there and they love coming back. I highly recommend this place. We will be back next year!
I have never had a problem here. We got at least once a year but try to make it twice. Halloween here is amazing. The trail is actually scary and fun. The activities are too notch as is the staff, they go above and beyond. The sites are large and the campground is clean. I enjoy this camping spot a lot.
We were a group of two couples in our 40s and 50s, all of us quiet, clean professionals. One couple owned their own camper, while the other rented one from the park. We have stayed at this campground before and, while we appreciate the park's amenities, we have repeatedly encountered issues with the attitude of the employees. Their demeanor can be described as abrupt, rude, and lacking in professionalism.||Upon our most recent arrival, we brought along a portable bouncy house for the kids to use occasionally. Immediately upon seeing this, an employee harshly informed us that we could not use it. No reason was provided, nor were any liability issues cited. We complied immediately, understanding that attempting to have a reasoned conversation would likely not resolve the situation. It is worth noting that we observed other campers had constructed large, seemingly permanent structures around their sites using materials such as metal and wood, which appeared to be without any permit.||Another incident occurred upon our departure. We conducted multiple walkthroughs of the rented camper, ensuring that it was left in good condition. We even made the beds and put away the dishes that were supplied. The official checkout time is 11:00 AM. At precisely 11:11 AM, the same individual arrived in a golf cart and curtly informed us that we needed to leave. My daughter was using the bathroom at the time, which he had to have been aware of, yet he insisted we vacate immediately.||While we understand and complied with the checkout policy, the manner in which it was communicated to us was unnecessary and lacked basic courtesy. Furthermore, the provision of an envelope for a tip seemed incongruous given the overall experience. Although we enjoyed our time at the park, it is clear that the intellectual and emotional intelligence that contributes to a positive campground experience was significantly lacking among the staff.
Everything was great. The cabin was clean and well stocked with essentials. The pool and splash pad area were clean and well maintained. Lots of activities throughout the day to keep everyone entertained. Everyone on the staff was incredibly friendly. My only complaint is about other guests, who seem to lack any manners. Including an adult telling a child that he couldn't sit in a seat because he was saving seats for others at a free bingo event and other adults feeling the need to vape and bring copious amounts of alcohol to a pool surrounded by children.
It's always a lot of fun and a great place to spend time with your family. Anytime there was an issue with anything, it was resolved right away. Favorite of all was the water weekends! Best weekends ever. My son was so little at the time we went and he got scared for a second when they were throwing water. One guy came up and splashed his little toes and he laughed so hard he forgot how scared he was. People are just having fun and it's always so nice to see everyone get together and have fun. To much complaining and stress in the world. Want to really relax and not feel like needing a vacation from a vacation. Staff is always great and helpful to make your experience worth the stay.
This was our first time at this campground, we went in the beginning of July for 5 days. First the good parts, the campsite was big we, stayed in a tent. The pool area was nice and the splash park and staff was very nice.
Now the not so good. Our campsite was sand, the only campsite with sand, if we had known this we would of picked a different site, there was sand everywhere from our shoes to our tent and cars, very annoying. Second I cannot believe no one I'm their reviews mentioned the FLYS! We had to hang 3 of the very smells bag fly traps around our site and they were still out of control. We didn't keep any food out and the flys were brutal. I've been to campgrounds and never experienced flys like this. The roads were dirt so if your feet were wet from walking back from the pool your feet got dirty.
We did end up renting a golf cart for 3 days and it made it much better.
In conclusion I will not be going back for the main reason of the flys.
