Dr. Pappu and Nurse Tessa have always been excellent! Dr. Pappu has been my doctor for some time, and I’ve appreciated the care provided. Sadly, they moved and no longer at this office.
Unfortunately, today will be my last visit to this office, and here’s why. My appointment was scheduled for 9:45 AM, and I arrived 10 minutes early. However, I wasn’t called in until 10:55AM and didn’t leave the office until 11:30AM. This significant delay completely disrupted my day and caused me to miss other important medical appointments. As a teacher, I only have a couple of days off during the holiday to manage all my specialist visits, so this was particularly frustrating.
I had a follow-up pap smear in July 2024 and wasn’t scheduled to return until next year. Despite multiple requests, the new triage nurse refused to refill my hormone therapy prescription, insisting that I needed to return for an annual pap smear. Seriously, why?
Anyhow, I complied, coming in today, only to be stuck in the office for hours—missing other crucial appointments—and still, the hormone refill wasn’t sent to CVS.
I’m extremely disappointed by this experience and, regrettably, will not be returning to this office.
If i can give them less stars i would. My PCP referred me to this practice and have scheduled and confirmed an appointment a month in advance, and today i received a call stating that my insurance is not covered. It's been over a month..why would you all notify me the day before my appointment that my insurance is out of network? If i was informed earlier or perhaps if the insurance information was received this morning, i would have very well understood, but this is careless and i wouldn't recommend this practice. I really needed to be seen to make sure that everything is okay. Do not come to this establishment.
Avoid this place at all costs. Their staff has discriminatory practices towards their Hispanic patients. My mother was referred to this place by her doctor. And when she called to schedule a visit they told her that none of the staff spoke Spanish and she would have to bring her own translator. I had to take the day off of work and drive an hour to go and translate for her since no one else in my family could.
When we were signing the paperwork upon arriving the front desk lady watched me struggle to translate the paper work for my mother and only after it was delaying the doctor did she start to talk to us in Spanish. Once we were inside of the room, even the nurse spoke to her in Spanish. Interesting that this was not mentioned in prior communication.
Once the doctor was able to see my mom she was rude and seemed to be in a hurry to get back over to the hospital. Because she was in such a rush she failed to properly explain my mother’s medication instructions even after us asking multiple questions. This caused my mother to take the improper dosage. She did not find out until her next visit and they tried to blame it on her.
When we were leaving she had to schedule another appointment and the staff asked that I come back again to translate for her. I’m not sure why this would be necessary given that they had staff capable of communicating with her. We again had to make coordination for someone to go translate for her during a biopsy.
To make matters worse, not only was she hurt during the biopsy but they took a bad sample and rushed her out of the office. She was in pain and bleeding for days after. They asked her to return
again so they could take another sample.
Now she has been getting continuous bills for this procedure which she has already paid. They are being useless in trying to get this resolved for her. She went back recently with my dad and when they asked to speak to the manager they refused to let them because they did not speak fluent English.
How sad that the Plano/Richardson area is home to a large demographic of Spanish speaking people and they refuse to provide the proper care for their Hispanic patients. All they care about is money and doing a half assed job.
The physician (Gupta) and other care providers are great, no complaints there. They actually provide value. The auxiliary staff, notably billing and Jessica Lang's crew, are the WORST. They cost us (no exaggeration) thousands of dollars that should have been covered by insurance but because of their specific office policies was not billed to insurance at all. I wish we could just see Dr. Gupta & her team and pay them directly. I hate insurance and I hate this billing team.
The administration and the doctors do not care about you. I went to the same doctor for both pregnancies and you go their for 9 months just so another doctor who you have never met delivers both of your kids. Very impersonal and don't even ask about the manager. She is just so rude and inconsiderate at all. Even though you have insurance, I asked for time to make a payment, they ended up dismissing me even though I am 20 weeks and halfway through my pregnancy and knowing very well it is very hard to find another OB who will take another patient this far along. You are not allowed to ask questions pertaining to your insurance and if you do, you will get dismissed. I'm not upset about beeing dismissed, in fact I'm happy. But this far along that it's almost impossible to find an obgyn and so inconsiderate. I haven't even done my anatomy scan to check if the baby is Okay or if I'm I'm okay. Another proof that the clinic does not care for you. Do not get them as your obyn! You will regret coming here!
I loved my pregnancy and birth experience with Advanced OB-GYN. Tessa is the sweetest medical assistant and made me feel relaxed whenever I was stressed. Dr. Pappu is one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. She never made me feel uncomfortable, never pressured me to do anything, gave me choices, never rushed me at appointments, and made sure I was happy and healthy. My baby was delivered via emergency c-section and she made the process easy even though it was scary. Recommend 10000%!
If you are able to get in to see the doctor, you will be able to ask questions and receive answers thoroughly without judgment. (The nurses, are a different story and will tell you their opinions about your lifestyle choices and your body.)
However, good luck getting in to see the doctor. The administration at this place is awful.
In order to get information you must go to the office and sit in the lobby for hours because voicemails are not returned as promised.
Also patients must be medical experts and have a thorough knowledge of medical billing in order to ensure they are not being taken advantage of. There seems to no communication amongst staff. Checking out of my first visit, a follow up visit with different procedures was scheduled. When I arrived the doctor asked why I scheduled the appointment because she did not think it was necessary. To which I responded the staff member checking me out told me I needed to schedule the appointment as you requested it.
At my latest appointment, a nurse asked me what labs we were doing as the doctor did not write it down. I am assuming this is what caused the billing issue because I received a bill from a lab for over $800 for procedures covered by the ACA.
When I contacted billing, they asked me what was done as if they do not know and do not have my records despite the practice being the ordering party. Billing also refused to take responsibility and rectify the issue stating I need contact my insurance and the lab despite both entities being unable to change how the office coded the procedures. Insurance will not tell anyone how to code anything as that is insurance fraud. It also should not fall on the patient to know medical codes and make sure their care providers are doing their jobs correctly and returning calls as promised on their answering machines. Billing then transferred me to the office manager who has still not returned my voicemail.
If you enjoy learning opportunities and experiences where you must practice patience and learn how to wait to receive quality care you already paid for, this is the place for you.
Personally, I will be looking for another office. I just have had multiple issues here. I don't get callbacks when requested. Sometimes I feel like some of my concerns are not taken seriously by some of the staff. (I ask about something and I get laughed at?) I've noticed some patients get scheduled at the same time for the same doctor but whoever just so happens to show up earlier, they get taken in while the other person has to wait a good 30+ minutes after their scheduled appointment time. This has happened to me twice to which the lady at the front advised I arrive 15 minutes before my scheduled time. Lastly, today I was asked to come by the office to pick up a document. After confirming the time, I get to the office to see a note posted on their door stating that "the office will be closed for the remainder of the day". What's with this place and poor communication? There are too many reasons to not to return here.
