This was a first time visit. I was pleased with the overall service I received that day. I was
treated promptly and professionally by the
office staff. I was more than pleased with
the Doctor that treated me. He was kind and
thorough. He diagnosed the medical issue quickly. He gave me options for immediate relief. I am grateful and will return if needed.
Jeanne was so wonderful with my Mom, Gwen. She took a personal interest in her jewelry, which is so helpful in making the patient feel comfortable and cared for. She quickly let her know that the skin problem was a non-concerning skin condition common as we age. Mom loved the time, and I was so impressed with how quickly we were seen by the Dr herself.
Terrible experience both times with different providers.
First was for myself. Went in spring/summer of 2023. Was told I need a shot to fix some issues I was having. I called two weeks later when I was having spotting, and the medical assistant couldn’t tell me if spotting was a side effect of the shot they had given me. After I asked her to put me on hold and look then she was able to find out that was a side effect and my period should go back to normal the next month. As someone who was trying to conceive at the time that would have been important to know BEFORE getting the shot. The shot also didn’t fix the issue completely.
Second time was for my son (6 months at the time). Dr. Dunn came in and didn’t even touch or exam my son. Looked at him sitting on the table and automatically said “this is the steroid cream he needs”. No conversation or treatment plan. No questions about what has been going on, when it started, issues we’ve been having, anything. I asked to see the insert for the steroid he recommended and he said I could view it when I picked up the prescription. When I mentioned my son was having similar issues to what I have related to my allergies, he wrote it off and said that couldn’t possibly be my son’s issue. He mentioned a lotion I could try for him and that it might sting or make my son cry when it goes on but that means it’s working. They then said, call us if there are any problems, to which I responded “if my son is crying in the middle of the night because of this lotion then I should call you”, to which they had no response. Dr. Dunn lacked bedside manner and care. I will not be following up with him. He was rude, no real thoughtfulness to treatment or a plan. Just a clog in his wheel and a kick back for the drug he prescribes.
Horrible, incompetent provider. When I scheduled our appointments I specifically said we ONLY wanted to be seen by an MD. Upon arrival we were told we would be seen by a PA. The exam was a JOKE-not thorough, no questions re:skin care routine/habits; no check of my face or nails. I had to ASK that an AK be removed! When there was absolutely NO change in the area 10 days later (or the spot on my husband’s head that had the same worthless treatment), I called the office and was told we would be billed to come in and have the procedure done correctly’. My husband went in for a blue light treatment 5 days ago and has had NO signs whatsoever of having it done. I’ve filed formal complaints with Anthem/Blue Cross so we can see an actual DOCTOR that has actual KNOWLEDGE and COMPETENCE to perform these basic procedures. I would STRONGLY suggest you go elsewhere. And if you’ve been seen at this practice and you had a similar outcome, I would suggest filing a complaint with your insurance provider. I am also filing a complaint with the state at the urging of BCBS.
Definitely less than impressed. Having have previous issues in other dermatologists offices for myself, I tried going in with an open mind for my daughter after reading the reviews. No one looked up to at least make eye contact or wave (no one was on the phone so even a hi would be nice) to acknowledge that people walked in as it was more than just us and I instantly felt I was an inconvenience to the front desk staff. The feeling of being an inconvenience then proceed to the assistant/nurse who called us back and did the quick check before the doctor came in. The doctor was fine, but had to try and drag more education out of him. I’m not a dermatologist, how am I to know what my child has, so if I obviously have no idea, some education would help. Don’t have laugh at my expense. When over, again a rush to get myself and a toddler out of the office. Don’t bother to offer a treat or sticker if you wish we were gone and finish inconveniencing you. I (unfortunately) am reminded why I have a dislike of going to the dermatologist.
I don’t normally leave reviews and this was my first time going to a dermatologist. But I feel that I should share my experience because this was a good reminder that you can’t trust all medical professionals and should always do your own research. I went in for a full body scan in September. At that point I was 5 months pregnant and even though on the paperwork I filled out nowhere did they ask if I was pregnant I still did let the dermatologist know that I was pregnant. I mean she saw my whole body naked so I’m sure she could also tell. They checked my skin out I was all good the only thing I wanted was to treat these red spots on my skin from sun damage. The lady said I couldn’t treat with ointment and they would need to do laser treatment. She told me I would need to go to the other side of their office to make an appointment for that. At no point did she as a liscened dermatologist say you can’t do that treatment while pregnant there are risks. She just sent me on my way and I booked the laser treatment with their cosmetic side of the office. At no point did they ask if I was pregnant. Fast forward 2 months I take time off of work for this treatment. I do the check in paperwork the night before again no where does it ask if I’m pregnant. I go in for my appointment and they check me in at this point I am showing quite a bit I’d say and again no one ever said anything about me being pregnant. I go back to do the treatment and the lady asks if I am on any medication and I said oh no and then jokingly say just pregnant then the lady said “oh you are?” looked concerned and said she wasn’t sure if we could do treatment and she needed to go talk to the doctor. Then was gone for at least 5-10 minutes. In the meantime I do a quick google search and find out due to hormonal changes when pregnant its not recommended to do laser treatment because you are more at risk for burning. Makes sense and now I know. But why didn’t the PROFESSIONALS know that or warn me? What if I didn’t tell her and they went forward with treatment? Kinda seems negligent if you ask me. And they offered no compensation for my time that was wasted. I even asked if they could do a facial or something quick, obviously I’d pay for it, but since I was already there. She said no she’s booked out. I’m thinking yeah I know I booked you for this treatment! And I know, I take full responsibility for not asking all the right questions or just simply looking it up before I went but I am just really annoyed by the whole thing. Anyways always do your research.
I’ve always been impressed with Advanced Dermatology! They’re very good about reminding me of my appointments! Doctors and assistants are very outgoing, friendly and helpful! The exams are very thorough which makes me feel as if I’m covered as far as any potential skin cancer! Steve Gregory, Spokane Vally
My first appointment with Advanced Dermatology was a day after my initial call. I was greeted and checked in by friendly front desk staff. In exam room, Laura took thorough notes and my provider, Maggie, introduced herself and examined my skin. She explained about taking a biopsy and almost painlessly did that. My overall impression was positive in every interaction at this practice. I feel well cared for.
