Best WLM Reviews
We love staying at the Adrift for our annual summer visit. It ticks all our boxes for what we need from a beach hotel: cool vibe, simple but comfortable rooms, courteous staff, a pool, and a location that is literal footsteps from the beach. Also, it's nice being a walkable distance to the main drag of town, but not so close that noise and crowds are an issue. We also appreciate the free tasting at the distillery and complimentary coffee in the mornings.
This year, we upgraded to a bunk suite in the east building. Having a separate room for the kiddo was a game changer, and the fridge/microwave are a must for our family. Given the lack of carpet on the room floors, there was a little noise up above from folks walking around, but it was not an issue overnight. Also, given the sand we tracked in, having non-carpeted floors and a broom/dustpan in the room allowed us to keep things feeling less sandy underfoot.
We also like their on-site restaurant, the Pickled Fish, but BE WARNED: you do need to make reservations in advance for dinner. We learned that last year, and it made this year's meal way easier... and the view from the restaurant can't be beat!
Definitely looking forward to next year's visit already... again, if you want a convenient, clean, chill spot for the weekend, we highly recommend Adrift!
Had a wonderful stay! Loved the modern millennial hipster aesthetic of the room. Complimentary bike to ride around town and along the bike path was really nice (though the chains could use some oil/replacement due to the saltwater). Warmed salt water pool and saunas were super nice. Enjoyed that they were open later than most hotels pools are as well (closed at 11pm with adults only after 9pm). Distillery tasting (which was also complimentary with the room) was fun as well. Very close to the beach and easily walkable to many downtown restaurants. Rooms were nice though as others have pointed out not the most silent. That said, there were ear plugs but we didn't end up using them. Overall, a very fun weekend getaway experience!
Severely disappointed, reading all the great reviews and looking at pictures I was excited to take my family here until we got there. Our shower was gross with the bottom of the shower not being cleaned and looked like there was sand and dirt all over it. Then the bed is so old you just sink in and roll into each other. The pool is outdoors so it was so cold to go in and actually enjoy. Then having to walk so far being cold was awful especially with a baby. Then comes the alarm clock. I stayed here so that I did not have to wake up early and the alarm clock kept going off starting at 5:30 in the morning and also waking my baby every 5 minutes. When I brought this to the attention of the staff I got blank stairs of what do you want me to do and them stating they will talk to housekeeping. Not even an apology. At that time I was furious. I explained to him the whole point of me being there and to be woke an hour and a half early is not okay. Also had housekeeping coming into our room when we had the sign up and they did not even knock before entering. So much disrespectful.
Strange place. Tried for Industrial Chic, but all the accomplished was Appalachian Shack. Room was poorly designed and not functional. A long couch / day bed on a platform along the window wall, so deep you had nothing to put your back against, and you had to climb up on it to adjust the window shades. Directly across from a very large hotel with extensive, bright lights. This was a problem as the room had no A/C so you had to leave the window open to get some cool air at night, but the bright lights necessitated having the shades closed. We left the bathroom vent fan on all night to get a little bit of air into the room, but that was very noisy. Large mirror, but it was back over the "couch", thus useless. The art was boring at best. No chairs. We had to bring our lawn chairs into the small space. Shelving and nightstands were packing crates tacked to the wallop standing on the floor. Lighting was several bare bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Etc, etc. Would NEVER go back. Not even as good as a Motel 6 in the old days.|There was a small covered pool which would have been fine for little kids, and a restaurant and espresso bar. Dog friendly, half the people there were with dogs, which probably was the draw.
We loved our stay. The location was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. I liked that guests could bring pets.
The rooms are a bit small, and have no A/C, but since we were there in the end of August, it wasn't too hot.
Lovely hotel.
I had been going to Adrift for about ten years, but last year, will be my last year.
I had an annual trip for my birthday (in Sept ) and I had recommended this place to sooooo many people but something has gone down hill at Adrift and it makes me so sad. This past year, I had booked MONTHS in advance. I bring my dog and ALWAYS request a bathtub. I even called to confirm these things a month before I arrived. The first night my bed was sooooo bad it was like trying to sleep in a bowl. Zero sleep. I emailed the front desk and they agreed to switch my room. I had to wait all day but, by 4pm, I was moved. With only two nights, it seemed a bit silly to move at that time but I really needed to sleep and relax. The room they moved me to was bigger and the bed was better BUT NO bathtub. ????At this point I just wanted to be in my room. The shower reeked of mold. I am highly allergic to mold, but opened windows and stayed because it was so late in the dat. I did get sick from the mold but I just didn't want to move again since it was a bit of a production. I tried to enjoy my last day there and was gonna let it go but upon check out I noticed they had UPCHARGED me to move me to a room with a bed that wasn't un usable AND NO bathtub. Why would they upcharge me, when already paying full price for a room that was, at no fault of my own, a ridiculous sleeping situation???? The room they moved me to also had a leaking fridge so rusty sludge was all over the floor as well as the mold and shower only.????????. Zero offer for any sort of compensation so i was more than surprised they cahrged me more for a room i would never book....The year before, the saunas weren't working and the restaurant was closed....soooo disappointed and sadly, seems that the quality has gone waaaaaaay down. I have moved out of country ( two years ago) so getting there was a big feat but the quality of what you pay for has drastically gone down hill. Maybe new owners? Next year a new tradition will begin at a new beachside hotel. Yes, it's a bit cheaper than others with this location but the tipping point has occurred it seems. . The upcharge was the last straw for me, seriously unnecessary and just shows the customer care and service that was once top notch, has gone away. I've waited two months to post this review because this place had meant so much to me for so long but , I'm going to find another place for my birthday getaways, vacationers beware. ????
We were met with an all inclusive pride flag and my wife and I immediately felt safe, welcome, and seen. If you’re part of our LGBTQIA+ community, you’re safe here! We brought my mom and our oldest with us to the kite festival and had a fantastic time! We played shuffleboard in their play room and swam the heated indoor pool for a couple of hours. Our room was adorable and clean. The pictures hung in old windows were a beautiful use of recycled materials. This was a night filled with bonding, laughter, and fun! I was sad to go, but I know we will be back!!! The little sign in the window that says “be nice or leave” gave us a big smile and a snicker as we left! We can’t wait to come back!!
My husband and I stayed here for two nights. When we arrived, the room was 75 degrees. It was in the mid 60s outside, humid and the room temp was uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning in these units and baseboard only heating. It took keeping our windows open the entire stay to get the room to a semi-comfortable temperature. We were on the 3rd floor so felt relatively safe to leave our window open, but there are no in-room security safes! I called the front desk and there isn't even an option to have a safe delivered to the room. We opted not to have housekeeping as there was no way to secure valuables which made me uncomfortable. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles are re-used and refilled which is gross. I don't know what other guests do with those bottles or if they are emptied after each visit. The blanket on the bed had a stain on it. They provide earplugs for the stay as the cars in the parking lot and surrounding rooms are noisy with thin walls. The room cleanliness was moderate but there were definitely areas that were not cleaned well. The refrigerator door had crusty crumbs and food on the handle. The table that was along the wall had a sticky spot that I had to wipe down before setting anything on it. I'd give cleanliness a 3/5 rating.
A few positives:
-Their on-site restaurant is delicious.
-The staff were friendly.
-They offer in room dining from the restaurant with great food, drinks and prompt delivery.
-The beach is a very close walk. We could see the beach from our room window.
Overall, we will not be staying here again. It feels more like a motel with a few hotel-esque amenities like the restaurant, distillery and room service. They need to make upgrades if they want to improve their room and stay experience.
