I booked an appointment with Apple for an updo style I did not know that you had to have maintenance in order to get a retwist (my mistake). Nonetheless when I arrived at 11 the receptionist let her know “ your 2nd person is here” never mentioned me by name. After about 3 minutes Apple walks over & says “ loc updo” I said yes she responded “1st chair”. Never once said how are or introduced herself or ask who I was. She explained that in order to get a retwist I need to schedule maintenance on so I tell her to just free style. She never touched my hair at the root, use oil or ever water in a spray bottle to give my hair luster or even act as if she was interested in doing my hair to begin with. The service which was supposed to be 45 minutes was rushed from the time I hit the door. It took her 19 minutes pull my hair up stop for 2 minutes to help someone then about 16 minutes to put pins in my hair. I was at the register at 11:37. I stated to her I was unhappy about my hair & service. I mentioned to her about not greeting me asking my name her response was “ she told me your name” the receptionist however she did not. I mentioned I literally still have bed her & asked why don’t you use oil or water or anything for that matter she states that is all with maintenance, so I’m guessing customer service is part of the maintenance as well. I’m not happy about anything with my service today.
I have been coming here for over three years and I recommend to everyone! Great atmosphere and I never leave disappointed. Their hair products are top notch and my natural hair has been super healthy. I started to bring my 7 year old and she enjoys coming here as well!
So Ms.Damerea is the ????! Not only does she set my head on fire every time I go into the shot. Her professionalism is always on point. She does an awesome job on my locs and the styles she comes up with girl you know you are always on point. The salon staff is always courteous and answers any questions in which i may have. Would not let anyone else put their hands in my head but Damerea.
I have been going to Adell's for almost 2 yrs and I love the atmosphere of this salon. Nia is the ABSOLUTE BEST, I initially scheduled w/ her for a re-twist and she gently delivered the bad news that it was best that I restart my loc journey.
Nia combed out my starter locs and gave me a fresh start. I loved the size and parting much better than the previous set. After that we were 'loc'ked in and I know I'm going to get amazing service with each booking! I highly recommend Nia at Adell's Natural Hair Salon.
I am a young adult writing this review who had expectations for my visit to Adell's "Natural" Salon after the professional and considerate communication from the owner herself. She even offered to personally do my hair, but as she's only available on weekends, I understood and was referred to another stylist she trusted, Alexsys. Alexsys required a $25 deposit, which seemed fair and was credited toward my service. I originally had my appointment for 12 pm but the night before, Alexsys asked if she could move it to 1:30pm since she was going to be behind with her other client. I agreed to the 1:30pm appointment.
However, my actual salon experience was disappointing . Upon arrival, a woman walked me in and directed me to sit at the sink. When I asked if she was Alexsys, she confirmed, I then greeted her, but received no response. I was there for a demi dye, loc retwist, and style. Prior to service she told me it would be a total of $200.
During the dye process, I noticed that she missed three locs. It took her about 40 minutes to return to me, since she had another client and another 20 minutes to address the missed locs and let them sit with dye. When she finally came back to wash and rinse my hair, everything was well until I sat up from the sink to find the back of my shirt drenched from my neck to mid-back with warm water, triggering me as I hate wet clothes.
I sat in the chair for another 30 minutes with cold water dripping down my back and face before she returned to style my hair, without offering extra towels, a dryer, or even an apology. I felt like crying from the rage I felt, especially as I believe I was treated differently because of my age, as I doubt Alexsys would have left a 30 or 40-year-old with their back drenched in water.
After finally finishing with her other client, Alexsys began working on my hair. While the retwisting went well, the styling was disappointing . I had asked for a bob style with two strands, where all pieces of hair should stop at the same length. Despite assuring me she could achieve this style prior to my appointment, it became apparent that she wasnt doing the loc knots correctly. I’ve had a loc bob before, so I know the process of how it’s supposed to be done…when I looked, I saw that Alexsys was just two-stranding my hair back.
I went to the bathroom to see what she was doing and saw that my hair was uneven and the twists were LOOSE, see-through, and sloppy. When I returned, I asked her to redo the twist, by then, I knew I wouldn't get the desired “bob” look I was going for. Despite being there since 1:30pm and it already being 6pm ,I accepted this and just wanted to leave. Alexsys then made a comment on how my hair is “thicker and just needed some more arm into it”. I laughed because I hear this ALL the time. She proceeded to do my hair without saying anything else about it.
At checkout, I was presented with a total of $200, which I paid, assuming my deposit was included. I tipped $10 despite of my experience. However, upon checking my bank account, I discovered I had been charged $210 and an additional $25 for the deposit, totaling $235. This contradicted what Alexsys had told me prior, that my total would be an even $200 for ALL three services, including the deposit fee.
When I texted Alexsys about the overcharge, she explained that an additional $15 was added for a "density" fee based on the thickness of my hair.. This was never mentioned beforehand to me DIRECTLY during my appointment OR at PAYMENT! She only sent $10 back. I had never heard of such nonsense! It's extremely disappointing to be CHARGED EXTRA for having thick and NATURAL hair. I understand that these newer “stylist” have their own policies but please DON’T CONSIDER THIS A “natural” salon when I’m being charged for not having brittle, thinning, and damaged locs LOL! And if you’re going to charge a “density” fee, at least let the client know what they’re being charged for, because I would’ve NEVER came here knowing that my hair would cost me extra cash! It was 7pm when she finished..
Apple Hooked my locs up, I booked a loc maintenance and loc up-do. If you read there website it’s pretty straight forward on what they charge and do. I did call to ask questions as well so I was set up when I got there.
Everyone there is mad chill and Apple took her time with my locs. Washed my hair real good as well as oiled my scalp. Left feeling brand new, will be coming back !!!
Quaint black owned natural hair salon... I was greeted by the owner and hair appointment was on time. My stylist seemed frustrated or annoyed at first, but warmed up. This can be intimidating for someone not familiar with natural hair salons. Three strand twist out turned out beautifully and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back!
I had a 9am appointment this morning and nobody showed up or answered the phone. It’s now 9:15am and I’ve been standing outside since 8:55am. This is unacceptable and I will absolutely be getting my deposit back. Do not even try to collect the full amount from my card. American Express does not play that!!!
