I am generally satisfied with my orders from Klein's, however, today I purchased 2 lbs of fried oysters and I noticed excessive fried crumbs. That's usually ok to find some of the breading but the amount in this order was unacceptable considering the order was $46.99 plus $1.41 adm fee for using a debit card ????. The attached pics depict what was on the bottom of my order none of which is osyter, ALL crumbs. Just got off the phone with the store and was told "I don't know what to tell ya".???? Needless to say, I'm not happy with that response.
BTW, the oysters were fantabulous!
First time we went here it was closed, second time open, we were very happy about the quality of fish no problem with this. Third time we got there and it was closed and the detour around all the streets was a mess. Thanksgiving hours and they was closed the day after, with a sign on the door with hours . So we go there again December 2nd, thinking they would be open till 6 pm, Nope they closed {another sign} for Christmas hours which says they closed at 3 pm not 6 pm. Sorry this has been a hassle and I will forget about this place now.
This place is tons of fun, and worth the trip from Kent to go get hard to find marine animals to eff with. I got squid, learned how to clean it (the guy ringing me up STRONGLY suggested I look it up and made the best calamari I have always have. Plus now I know how to clean squid.
My Grandmother brought Me to Kleins as a child and it still continues for Me & My Family To This Day. Delicious, signature, cooked seafood, and a nice selection of raw fish. Thank You for Your Consistency Kliens. ????
Our first time at the store, what a great experience. We were given suggestions on what to purchase based on our conversation, he gave us cooking ideas, what can be frozen and what shouldn't be. He suggested the clam strips for a snack where they cook them for you next door; and while picking up our clam strips we ordered the crab cakes. Out of this world!! If you have never been there, it is a must! It will be a regular stop for us!
We purchased the catfish nuggets, that actually were more like strips. The first time, there was barely any seasoning on them. The second time, we asked for them to be cooked crispy since they were soft underneath. This was not done, and there was less seasoning than the first time. We went back a third time within the month to give it one last shot since we heard good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, this time was the worst. The fish had some kind of white coating on parts of it that made it look completely unappealing. Also, the batter between the two orders was markedly different in color and taste (zero taste). Both orders were not cooked crispy. When I called and spoke to someone there, he just made excuses as to why it would not stay crispy, and basically told me that, "He is sorry, but if people want it cooked crispy, then we need to do it ourselves." Terrible customer service and lack of appreciation for customers. Well, thank you sir, I will definitely take you up on that recommendation. If you like soft under cooked fish with no taste, Klein's Seafood is your place.
Has to be the best seafood supply and cook restaurant in Akron. Every employee is excellent and friendly and hatevto see anyone not being helped. Sometimes it's busy and they have tickets to go by, but as fast as you get your ticket, they're asking, can I help you. And there's no sticker shock. They will weigh it and give you the price. You can add or subtract items. Unfortunately I took offva star when my scallops were overcooked, to nearly burned. But that was my fault too. I told them it could be in the same batch. Some food cook faster than others. But this round, they were a lot better. Fish was perfect as always. But I suggest you go. So many choices. You can take it home and cook it yourself. Soon good! It will hit the spot. Hint, you won't wait til you get home to eat.
You can either buy fresh fish and take it home or have them cook it for you. We usually have them cook it so our house doesn’t smell. We also pick out the fish before we have it cooked, ask them to fillet it and debone it and cook it! They also have coleslaw and fixings and fries and desserts. We usually get slaw and fries. We get Walleye, perch or flounder and are always pleased! We’ve been going here over 40 years!
