California Burrito Review (Stop #5)
Embarking on a quest to rank San Diego's California Burritos! The fifth stop is Adalberto's Mexican Food.
Product: A large, hot burrito served up quickly—hardly any wait. The flavor stands out from the others in the ranking because they add fresh herbs, which was an unexpected twist. Overall, it was tasty, with a good selection of sauces. The price is average for the city at $12. Rating: 7 out of 10.
Service: The service was fine, with no special or particularly friendly interactions. Rating: 4 out of 10.
Ambiance: Great vibe—bright colors, original and beautiful outdoor tables, and a spacious, open setting. It’s a comfortable and pleasant place to eat. Rating: 8 out of 10.
The burrito is mostly meat with some lettuce, tomatoes/pico, and some kind of thin oily dressing (maybe from the pico and/or the meat?). The meat was good and the tortillas seem homemade, but the lack of rice or beans in the burrito was surprising to me. And the dressing starts to get messy once you get to the bottom third or so of the burrito. If you like a lot of meat maybe this place is for you, but I'm looking for a bit of r&b in my burritos!
Good food. Small inside, but has outdoor tables. There is a bathroom but it’s like a speakeasy to get there LoL.
The mixed burrito is awesome here! The chicken is super moist and flavorful, cooked to perfection. Their salsas are really tasty as well. They have a 24-hour drive thru, as well as inside and outside seating during regular hours. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their food soon!
Update: I returned to Adalberto’s with my friend to try out some of their other burritos. We ordered a breakfast variation burrito and a California burrito. Both were decent, though neither packed the *wow* factor of the mixed burrito I had previously. I think chicken might be the meat to order here, and I definitely recommend the mixed burrito as a #1 choice.
Disgusting service, disrespectful workers and unseasoned food, not worth it. if you’re going to work at customer service make sure you don’t hate yourself. The girl at the window, the one with the fried hair didn’t even acknowledged us, was rude and disrespected us, in all of my years coming to this taco shop i’ve never experienced such a leve of disrespect, although it’s not their first time; the girl at the window always has an attitude. She makes u never want to step foot in this establishment, get someone who can do customer service and make you feel welcome, she can work at the kitchen or something. I’ve been coming to this taco shop for years and each time they get worse, service wise and food wise and they treat their customers so bad. Go to Humberto’s on 43rd if you want good food
During our Californian road trip 5 years ago, Adalberto was our cantine.
Going here again 5 years later revive so much good memories. It’s still the best Mexican food I’ve ever had.
Everything is perfectly cooked and to do for.
Beside that the food is fantastic and delicious, the prices are insanely low. It’s a great value for price.
I highly recommend Adalberto if you’re around, you won’t be disappointed.
They have a drive-thru as well as parking and inside seating. The drive-thru was very busy on a Saturday and the line was going into the street...the parking lot and drive-thru are definitely too small. The wait was maybe around 20 minutes but the food tasted great (rolled tacos, carne asada fries, and horchata); the price for 2 meals and 2 large drinks was only $30! I would definitely come again. The employees were nice and hardworking also, especially in this heatwave California is having.
I'm a rolled taco snob. Like most authentic Mexican Fast Food places, but only a few have great rolled tacos. This location just made the list! Very crunchy, good amount of beef, and really good Guacamole with tomatoes in it and cotija cheese sprinkled on top. Right up there with Taco Fiesta and Rosaritos.
