Best WLM Reviews

The ACME Salad was very good, large enough to split as dinner salad. The calamari wasn’t good - overcooked because the meat was too thin & small. The roasted halibut with crabmeat was absolutely delicious. You can taste the freshness of the fish. The seafood pasta was excellent, filled with shrimps, large scallops & pieces of fish meats. Shrimps were sweet too. Portions for the entrees were more than adequate. Our server was prompt, courteous, and pleasant. Definitely 2 thumbs up!
This place was amazing! It was packed on Saturday night, even in the off season, so while we had to wait 40 minutes for a table, we ordered a drink and hung out on the front porch. The place isn’t fancy at all on the inside, but the food is delicious and the service was outstanding.
We had: cocktails: Fresh Margarita and Strawberry Lemonade (with vodka)
Appetizer- Fried Brussels sprouts. Not only were they delicious, but because they are also a side, they are constantly making them, so we got them in under 5 minutes!
Entrees: Shrimp and Grits (absolutely delightful and they have a whole menu of choices for variations on it!) and the Broiled Seafood platter with Haddock, scallops, and shrimp. Served in a butter sauce that was sinfully good!
I highly recommend!
Recommended to us by a local. Busy, quaint restaurant. We just popped in for oysters (delicious) and a Ceasar salad- I added shrimp, and my husband added blackened chicken. Nice local beer selections. Small but distinguished wine menu. Delicious desserts. I would suggest reservations because there wasn't an empty seat in the place. The waitstaff was wonderful.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Acme on the Isle of Palms, a charming Lowcountry restaurant that has been a staple in the area for years. We made a brunch reservation for 2 PM, which was a perfect time since they stop serving brunch around 3 PM. The restaurant even reached out to us to see if we could come a bit earlier, which we appreciated and were happy to accommodate. We were seated in their exterior screened dining area. Initially, we were concerned it might be too warm, especially with the temperature at 92°, but they have about 25 large fans and ceiling fans that keep the space well-ventilated and comfortable.
For our meal, my wife enjoyed the shrimp and grits with sausage, and she particularly loved the shrimp! I opted for the original breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, house fries (which were excellent breakfast potatoes), and sausage patties. The sausage was average and didn't stand out, but the French toast I ordered as a side was absolutely phenomenal. If I were to return, I would definitely stick with the French toast. My dad had the shrimp and grits with lobster and was thoroughly impressed.
Our waiter was attentive and kept our water glasses full, ensuring we stayed hydrated throughout our meal. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we will certainly be returning. Acme deserves a well-deserved five stars for its excellent service and delicious food.
—Opportunities for Restaurant Improvement—
- Reconsider the quality of the sausage provided.
- Invest in glass water pitchers instead of plastic ones to enhance the dining experience.
- Add walnut wood to cover the spray insulation on the ceiling of the outdoor space for a more polished and modern look.
Tip - go early and enjoy a drink or two before the meal. Their drinks are great even if a
little pricey. We enjoyed our meals: Charleston shrimp and grits, creole seafood and blackened salmon. All were cooked very well and had great flavor. If you are in the Isle of Palms area, a definite great spot.
We ate an early dinner here, and made reservations, so we were seated immediately, and within minutes had drinks and ordered an appetizer. We had the she-crab soup for the appetizer and it was delicious. For the main course, my wife ordered the Isle of Palms (with the blackened shrimp), and I ordered the Broiled Seafood. We were unfortunately not satisfied with our main courses. We had come from all day tours in Charleston, so perhaps that affected our appetite. The cost of the dinner was pretty expensive and our time in Charleston is limited, so I am not sure we would come back.
Delicious food! This restaurant came highly recommended on the island and they did not disappoint. Be prepared for a 45 minute to an hour wait when busy. Our server, Travis, was great and made our very first visit a special one. Even the manager stopped by our table to ensure things were going well. We enjoyed ourselves so much we came back for brunch! Highly recommend!
Local laid back seafood spot on Isle of palms that hits the right spots, great fried green tomatoes and the catch of the day blacked is always delicious, sides are in generous portions, the staff is kind friendly and helpful, great spot to come in groups or just two. Been a couple of times now, never disappoints !
