Best WLM Reviews

I needed to make a last minute hotel reservation for my work team and wanted to make sure it was a nice hotel, in a safe area, but was not excessively expensive per my company's policies. I found the ACME Hotel Company on a few travel sites and it seemed to have good reviews, so I cross referenced with Google and again found good reviews. I was so pleased to find that the reviews were accurate.
I called the hotel's phone number to work with them directly and was put in touch with Marc and he could hear the panic in my voice to reserve 2 rooms for my team for that evening. Not only did he set my mind at ease immediately by assuring me he would take care of everything, but he made me feel okay and that my anxiety was understood. Instead of feeling embarrassed and silly, he made me feel confident in my reservation for the team at ACME. He took care of everything so quickly and followed up a few hours later to make sure I knew that everything was handled and they were ready for the team to arrive.
I received text messages from the team later letting me know that check-in was so easy and that their rooms were so nice and very cute! I received snaps and videos of the cute lip print details on the mirrors and the fun accents throughout the room. I later found out that they each had "Welcome" cards in each of their rooms and that Marc had actually upgraded both rooms to suites to accommodate them further.
I could not be more happy with the service that we received from ACME Hotel Company and from Marc! My team was so happy and they are excited to come back and stay. I will make sure that the next time I am in the city that ACME Hotel Company is my choice for the best stay in Chicago.
Incredible location - very central and easy to get around. Felt quite safe. The room was clean - small, but nice.
We had an issue with the airconditioning not working the first night and it was a very warm weekend in May. We mentioned it to the front desk on our way out in the morning, for the day. They took a look and quickly identified the unit was broken and they replaced it entirely with a new one. We slept at a much more comfortable temperature the second night. I was impressed at how quickly they fixed the issue.
The staff were very friendly and service was great! I would absolutely stay here again for my next visit to Chicago.
We stayed at the ACME 23.11.24 - 30.11.24 for Thanksgiving week and found the hotel to be in an excellent location within a short walk to mag mile and downtown, public transport was also easily accessible from here.||Housekeeping is on request only before 2pm which for us is fine as we don't generally feel we need the room cleaning daily and to be fair we were in the room that little that we didn't bother getting it done once during our stay and would just ask at reception for toilet paper etc when we needed it. Staff were pleasant when we interacted with them at the reception on check in/out etc. The room was clean and comfortable for the duration of our stay. We also didn't need to use the heating system as we found the room to be the perfect temperature without it on.||The rooms are quite quirky almost hostel vibes in some sense but we liked them and we had no issue when using the Amazon Echo in the room, just say "Alexa *insert command*" and it will work no issue; not sure why people need telling what to do with it as previous reviewers have stated. The rooms had retro style mini fridges and this was brilliant, really cold so actually working well unlike in a lot of hotels i've stayed in. The bathroom mirror is a little different with some illuminated lips on it which is pretty cool and the shower we found to be powerful, it's just a shame that a hand attachment isn't also available in the shower. There is very little storage space for clothes which isn't an issue for us as we don't unpack keeping the majority of our stuff in our suitcases and the suitcases stayed in front of the desk/TV area as we had no where else for them. As the hotel is on a busy main road it can get quite noisy during the night with sirens etc passing by and that is one thing that may put people off.||All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when visiting Chicago.
Rooms were very small, not booked into the accommodation that I requested upon making reservation regarding room with city view. Room did not have a coffee maker which I thought was standard for any room that cost 300 dollars in 2024. Location was tremendous, but would not recommend this hotel for the price based on so many other options on Magnificent Mile. Also, my 16 year daughter ended up coming on this trip last minute with my wife and I and unfortunately I only booked a king room, they said they had no double queens available and refused to work with guest checking in to switch rooms. There are always, and I mean ALWAYS people that want a King room, but generally have to settle for 2 doubles. All you have to do is ask them at check in and provide me a bed for my daughter, this was not done. I personally worked at a 5 star 5 diamond hotel for 5 years, The Jefferson in Richmond, VA. Accommodation change is easily done to help your guests, unless you just don't care. All you have to say upon check in is " we have a king room available at no extra charge if you prefer instead of your queen double". Point stated, very easily done. They DO NOT CARE. I still enjoyed the family sleep fest regardless......
This is a hotel that could easily be overlooked. It is in excellent location. Rooms are small, but well appointed. The hotel has a retro vibe. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. The hotel was surprisingly quiet being in downtown Chicago and only three blocks from Michigan Avenue. A previous reviewer said that if the hotel is available, book it! I agree, great value for its location. If you are looking for a cookie cutter hotel this one is not for you.
Just checked in yesterday and so impressed that I want to write a review immediately! What a fun place! So nice to stay somewhere NOT cookie cutter. Love the musical and quirky vibe. Everything is just as advertised. The room is super cool, clean, and comfortable. The location cannot be beat…walkable to so many places of interest including the Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, and Millennium Park. And on top of that, it is a two minute walk to the train station if you want to venture into other areas of Chicago. The staff here has been nothing but superbly helpful and friendly and check in periodically. Highly recommended!
Great location and good value for the money, esp compared to nearby hotels. Fun vibe and decor overall. Spacious rooms in older building. Showing some wear and tear since last update. Staff was pleasant enough but matter of fact. Bathroom was small and shower corners a bit cracked. Miss having much of a shelf in bathroom for toiletries as well as hangers or bars for towels. No coffee maker but great coffee and baked goods in store off the lobby.
My stay at this hotel was just okay, and I didn’t enjoy many aspects of it. First, the check-in process was bumpy. I booked through the Hotel Tonight app, where my room was supposed to be assigned on arrival. I called the day before to request early check-in and a high-floor room with natural light. The guy I spoke to had an unfriendly attitude, saying it was unlikely and to call the next morning. On the day of check-in, I called at 10 a.m., and a girl noted my requests, saying my room would likely be ready by 2 p.m.
At 2 p.m., I arrived and was assigned a basic, dark room with a Queen bed on a low floor, facing the inner building. I went back to the front desk to ask for a brighter, higher-floor room. The front desk guy gave me a dirty look and, with an annoyed attitude, moved me to room #1006 on a higher floor. The room had more daylight, but it was a corner room, and another room’s window was right next to mine—leaving me with no privacy. I had to keep the curtains closed the whole time, which I hated. I asked to try again, but they told me all Standard Queen rooms were like this, and if I wanted a brighter, city-view room, I’d need to pay $35 extra per night. Even though they had available rooms, they refused to move me for free, despite Hotel Tonight’s policy allowing hotels to assign any available room type. Frustrated, I stayed in #1006.
The room itself was tiny but in great overall condition, and I liked the design. There was a soft bathrobe, which was a nice surprise, and I loved the cute orange refrigerator, which added a pop of color. The table with a mini leather sofa by the window was a nice touch, and the Queen bed was comfortable. However, the air conditioner was directly above the bed and blew cold air on me, which affected my nose. There was also no closet, just a few wall hangers with limited space.
The bathroom was small but modern, with a large, comfortable shower stall and good-quality amenities. Everything worked fine, but the room wasn’t very soundproof - I could hear noises from the hallway, especially housekeeping vacuuming the floors.
A major issue was the strong smell of marijuana throughout the hotel, even inside my room. I’m not sure if it was from previous guests or neighbors, but as someone who’s never smoked, I was extremely disgusted by it.
Another negative part of my stay was the rude and slow night-time staff. The lady working at night was extremely unprofessional. When I returned to the hotel late, the front door was locked, so I had to ring the bell. Through the window, I could see her taking her time to get up and walk very slowly to the door. One rainy night, she refused to let me in until I found and showed my room key, leaving me standing in the rain. She never greeted me with a simple “Hi” or “Good night,” which was incredibly annoying.
On the positive side, the hotel’s location is nice - very central and convenient.
However, the rate I paid - approximately $105 per night with all taxes - was overpriced for the poor overall experience I had. The room rate should have been about half that price.
I have no intention of coming back to this place, and I recommend staying away if you want a comfortable vacation in Chicago.
