Best WLM Reviews

This abelardos has gone downhill just like the ones around des moines. I got a burrito that was ALL TORTILLA and barely any meat. The abelardos in carroll is the best one in Iowa. Never again.
Food is overall decent, and the prices for the portions are better than most places. Tend to order from here pretty often and will probably keep doing so:)
So glad that Abelardo's opened a chain in Ames (located at where the Long John Silver's used to be). I can finally get my fix of chorizo and egg burrito for breakfast without having to go all the way down to Des Moines. I have to admit though, the West Des Moines chain still have the best breakfast tacos, but who has the time to drive all the way to WDM on a Saturday morning... Having grown up in Southern California, I can attest to the quality of Abelardo's carne asada fries (it's called "super fries" on the menu). It tastes just like home, except I recommend subbing in the adobada for meat. Given that we're in Iowa, Abelardo's adobada (made from carne/pork) is to die for, and it goes well with anything on their menu (tacos, burritos, super fries/nachos). The other thing that I recommend is their avocado salsa. It's like guacamole, except 10 times better (and spicy too!). The service is friendly, the drive-thru intercom works, and the decor... well, it's typical Mexican fast food/grease grill. Beware of the slow wait time after ordering, they cook everything fresh after ordering.
My first experience with Abelardo's is a "can't wait to come back" winner! The picture menu in the drive through was very helpful and my food looked just like the picture. The tortillas were grilled and strong enough to hold the generous and delicious chicken fajita, which was spicy enough to get my attention but not overwhelming. Most refried beans are a mere afterthought, but not these. Mui bueno!!
Excellent food, and a TON of food for the price. Friendly staff and a very clean restaurant. My steak tacos were perfect. Love the salsa bar as well. We will definitely be back!
Completely disgusting and bad customer service was cold meat isn't even seasoned no flavor didn't follow instructions and aruges on phone. Needs shut down food inspection needs to be done here ASAP.
food was thrown together like it was dog food, took forever to get the food alone then it’s still rushed. undercooked chicken as well to go with it.
It's authentic Mexican food that you can get late night. Seafood chimmi was great. Very good alternative to the terrible taco bells in Ames.
