It was a fantastic place with fabulous doctors before the new management group took over. Almost all of the great doctors have quit. My son saw a new doctor (new to ABCD) and he checked his ears as part of the standard check up and didn’t comment or show any concern about my son’s ears. Later that night, my son complained of ear discomfort. I checked his ears with an ear scope camera and immediately saw that something bright orange was blocking his right ear canal. I was able to remove the blockage which was about 1/8 of an inch of a wax ear plugs for swimming (see the attached photo). How he could have missed something that was blocking his entire canal is beyond me. This was the final straw for us as a family. We tried going with the new vibe, but online everything is not the service I’m looking for when it comes to my kids. When I tried to set up the appointment, I couldn’t get a hold of a real person and was texted a link to set up the appointment online. This could have been okay, but they wanted you to operate through the new portal which hasn’t worked for us since the new management took over. I had to drive to the office and set up the appt at the front desk(the women helping me that day were lovely and very helpful). Needless to say, I will be looking for a new pediatrician elsewhere.
Today we had a wonderful experience for my daughter well check. Each of the staff we encountered we very pleasant, welcoming, and understanding. They all had great energy & it made today’s appointment go smoothly and quickly!
I appreciate the kindness, as we moms are usually like chickens with our heads cut off, it was a nice unexpected smile on my face. Thank you for caring for my baby.
Highly recommend!! We had our first visits last week and they were so on top of everything. I was struggling to find someone within 3 days. And they took their time with my kiddos. The whole staff was amazing and very kind! Office is very clean! Office staff was amazing.
I used to love taking my child to this practice. The doctors were the only people that caused me to stay this long. After today, I will be finding a new pediatrician’s office.
The major issue has become the front desk/check out staff. There is an older woman who has made a mistake every time she has checked me in or out. From scheduling appointments a month later than when my child needed to telling me my sobbing child had his nose running.
The last straw was today when I got there fifteen minutes before my appointment and was asked to sign in. I did and then sat down with my child. We waited until close to our appointment time and another younger receptionist checked the sign in sheet and asked why there was an extra person in the waiting room and looked at us. The older receptionist then asked me my child’s name and asked if I had signed in. I told her we had and she realized she never checked us in. This caused extra wait time for my toddler and there was no apology. After that both receptionist were short and curt with me.
It’s horrible how down hill this practice has gone. It used to be a wonderful place but this receptionist especially has made the experience not worth staying at this practice.
I’ll start by saying all the doctors we’ve seen have been A+, ours was Dr Guerra before he left but have seen a few others. The front desk on the other hand… they have a separate scheduling office and they apparently never communicate with the front office staff. We had received an email with Dr Guerra left that our booked well visit would be switched to a different provider, we received all of the reminder emails and texts about our upcoming appointment, so it was a bit of a shock to get to our appointment and the front desk told us the scheduling office never booked us with a different provider. We had to leave and come back later in the day. The office must be over or double booking because the last two appointments we’ve had (well visits, 18mo & 2yo) we were there almost two hours. The office also makes you confirm your appointment and fill out a questionnaire via email and then when you physically check in at the office they text you a link to fill out the same questions, they claim we have to do both before being seen. Now that Dr Guerra has left we will be looking for a new office to take our daughter.
I just recently started taking my son here for newborn wellness checks, and we have been pleased so far! Mrs Flowers is great. We usually get an early morning appointment so there is little to no wait time.
The staff has been friendly every time!
I've been coming here for almost 11 years, and they've always been professional, competent, understanding, and supportive. I like that they are also the go-to clinic for the hospital I delivered at. I was actually recommended by a delivery nurse 11 years ago. They have multiple locations, and they've been great at the 2 I've visited.
We used to see Dr. Simone, but she retired; absolutely loved her! The NPs Wheeler and Flowers are great.
We have been with ABCD pediatrics in Schertz for almost 6 years since my son was a newborn. I had the worst experience with the front staff and lead nurse today. Literally think it is the worst experience I have had with “medical professionals” in perhaps my whole life. We arrived 15 minutes early and I waited 15 minutes past my appointment to walk up and verify that everything was good. I’m fairly certain they never checked me in, because she called up the person who signed in after me before I walked up and asked if she wanted my copay that they told me when I did the required online check in.
Anyways once I started to ask questions about our status they sent out Lisa who said she was the “lead.” She was the most callous and most uncaring nurse I have met in my entire life. Her explanation made no sense and when I questioned the explanation she got agitated. Meanwhile my child has pneumonia….. so a little sensitivity would have been appreciated.
I’ve also noticed that they don’t keep providers at the Schertz location, and my son sees someone new everytime he goes in. Needless to say, it is clear I need to find a new pediatrician; because between the terrible bedside manner and the revolving door of providers- I’m not feeling in the best hands.
Side note, this is review is receiving one star because the doctor was attentive and did properly treat my child.
