My meal was perfect & I rarely say that when I dine out. I’ve had Abbey’s before but only in office and with their catering options. Before tonight I remembered that it was good!
Anyway, we went Monday night around 6:30pm and I ordered a brisket sandwich with potato salad and the yellow rice topped with baked beans. Everything about my meal was perfectly seasoned & cooked and had the right texture. We did not wait too long for both of our meals. There was plenty of seating, parking and tvs with the game playing. The service was friendly and efficient. There were 5 other people dining in and one couple who had a take out order.
Thanks for some good grub!
Abbey's Real Texas BBQ offers a casual vibe with simple decorations, including illustrations of beef cuts on the walls and large wallpapers. During December, festive Christmas decorations like a tree add a seasonal touch.
I ordered the lunch combo, which included a quarter chicken, several pork ribs, Texas toast, and a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, the chicken and pork ribs were overcooked, making them dry, tough, and hard to bite—far from ideal. However, the Texas toast was excellent, buttery, crispy, and aromatic.
To give the meal another chance, I added a half-pound of beef brisket, which was a pleasant surprise. The brisket was tender, juicy, and perfectly grilled, easily the highlight of my meal and a recommendation for anyone visiting.
One more bonus: this place is dog-friendly, which added to the charm. I even got to pet a large, adorable dog in the dining area.
While some items fell short, the brisket and dog-friendly atmosphere make it worth a visit for barbecue enthusiasts.
Big portions. Delicious pulled pork sammiches and awesome French fries. The onion rings weren’t as good as the fries.
Spacious dining area. A single restroom for customers. A lone service stand with ketchup packets, napkins, and soft drink taps.
Per our family, who all know good food, Abby’s is probably the best BBQ in San Diego. Always wanted to try it, so for my mom’s 93rd birthday, I stopped by and got the brisket, kielbasa, hot links, pork ribs, pulled pork, and some sides. Simply the best. You cannot beat it.
Amazing BBQ!!! Came all the way from Arizona to try Abbeys Real Texas BBQ. Brisket is the best I've had. Ribs are great, pulled pork was great, kids got the turkey and chicken sandwiches and they were amazing as well. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu.Great customer service from all the staff. The pitmaster even gave us a side plate of burnt ends of the brisket which are my favorite. Thank you to Abbeys. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious! Today was our first time visiting Abbey’s and will not be the last! The sampler was suggested by the pleasant cashier, Ashley. Great suggestion absolutely everything was delicious! The Carolina, Alabama and house sauces were amazing!! The potato salad was house made and soooo good! Can’t wait to return!
Pretty righteous BBQ. The Deluxe Brisket Burger is the BOMB and they cooked it true medium rare perfection. Even the salads looked great - full and fresh. What’ll keep me coming back for more however is - the cornbread. Some of the best I’ve ever had!!! #bbq #texas #brisket #cornbread #hotlinks #ribs
I am furious!!! Why did nobody tell me about this place for 2 years!?! Great staff, awesome setting and excellent BBQ!!! Brisket was my fav but ribs were a close second. Michelada was to die for!!
