Best WLM Reviews

So far really great staff ! Informative and polite. Have heard really good things about this Hospital. Glad we're here. Special thank you to a nurse named Darris. He was absolutely the best person I've ever met. He took care of my grandpa so well, very nice, polite, and professional. They need more of his kind around here !! Updating to a five star business! They really took great care of my grandpa.
My review is on several facets of this hospital and all of them were horrible experiences.
First of all..I was an OB patient at St. John back in September, I stayed for a total of two nights. On the first night/following day, the nurses were all very friendly and helpful, no complaint there. The beds are horrible, I was in severe pain just from laying in that bed. One hour post delivery, you are supposed to be moved to your recovery room for the remainder of your stay. I stayed in the delivery room for 4 hours before I could even get a nurse to come CHECK on me, let alone MOVE me. I called the nurse several times requesting heat packs due to the pain I was experiencing and she never came. I actually had to be moved by the recovery unit's nurse to my room because they never came, it was not a good experience.
Then the day we were scheduled to go home, the lactation consultant just decided not to come by but they wouldn't let me leave without speaking to her, so I had to wait an hour for her to show up and talk to me. Everything was just so disorganized and took forever.
My biggest complaints are 1) the billing and 2) St John Online Bill Pay
the billing- everything for my stay was billed separately according to department i.e. room stay, anesthesia, etc. I received approximately 5 separate bills that were all billed to my insurance incorrectly. Every. Single. One. They either billed my primary/secondary backwards and caused the claim to get denied which was SO FUN to attempt to fix, or didn't bill my secondary at all. I was so stressed out by their billing department pretty much the whole time I was on maternity leave which really pisses me off. My daughter was born in September, it is now almost January and still has not been corrected because they are so incompetent. I mean literally you file papers I don't know how difficult that is.
St John Online- worked well for a couple of weeks, then decided to lock me out and I have no idea why. Called the number given and was redirected SIX times to different departments, none of which said they could help me. Called Pulse Line and they said they would contact the business department to fix the issue, never heard from anyone..so I guess I'll just stay locked out.
I went last night to the emergency room. I was called in to be looked at five seconds after I sat down. Credit, their waiting room wasn't that filled. During the time I was being first looked at (vitals and staff trying understanding why I went to go the ER) they were starting my room. Right after I was done with explaining what was wrong and they were done with my vitals, I went strait to my room. The only thing I was waiting on was a bed, because they were still cleaning it. They were done cleaning it by the time I put on my gown, so it was in my room when I was done changing in the bathroom. The nurse brought me new warm blankets as well. I was there for five hours. I had many tests done to see if what I had wasn't surgical or major. During the whole time I was there, the staff was really nice to me and helped me when I needed it, majority of the time. I didn't expect them to look in every five minutes, because it's an ER and there were probably worst patients than me. But they did do a good job on letting me know what was happening and checking up on me. As soon as I got the good news that I could go home, it took only about ten minutes, at the most, to be discharged. I wouldn't say this hospital is flawless, but I enjoyed my time in there as much as a person can in a hospital. Overall, the hospital and staff were very clean, professional, and understanding.
This review is for the labour, delivery and newborn section based on our current experience during the delivery of our baby girl.
The medical staff is great. But one element here stands out and I feel the need to share that experience.
The nurses deserve special admiration for their outstandingly caring, friendly, professional, efficient and very proactive performance. They work together as one great functioning team towards the patient. New nurses during shift change are introduced by the previous one and you never see an unknown face (except for some routine IV fluid changes). If they only so much as sense the idea of a doubt about anything in a patient, they ask questions or send the doctor of the respective field to put one's mind at ease - without being asked for it. All this and many more small friendly gestures add up to a very pleasant and comfortable athmosphere around the delivery of our baby.
The service is very well organized. There is no need to investigate about what is happening now or what will happen next. Everybody seems to stop by and give information before we could even think about asking about it.
I have seen many hospitals all around the world. There are medically great hospitals all over the globe but I have not seen this much enthusiasm in nursing staff anywhere else - neither in the US nor abroad.
Thank you very much!
Would rate a zero, if it was optional. Horrible care for patients and unclean. Waited 6hrs in triage lobby with an I.V in my arm. They took blood twice and an MRI testing was done. Man was lying on the floor, sleep with an I.V. and the pole. Four more patients followed with I.V. poles. Was placed as a orange code which is a level 2 in need. Was told i was next 3hrs later..which never came. Asked triage nurse Katie for an update on where they were with me...I've been waiting 6hrs. She had the audacity to say "There's people whom been waiting 9hrs (man sleep on floor with I.V. pole)! In other words "So WHAT, you been wanting all night"! I checked in approx. 11:55pm and left with I.V. still in arm after asking several times for it to be removed. She wanted to keep assessing check-ins. I witnessed an patient go to the restroom and removed his own I.V. I asked b4 he removed it had he been waiting for her to remove his as well n he replied "Yep...so I will remove it myself". This place is trash n unfair to their patients! I used to work there years ago...So I can kick my own rear for this! Find another hospital if u need emergency assistance.
Lemme just start off by saying if it’s a serious issue/emergency...go somewhere else. Took a family member to this er, drove 3 hours just to go here because we were told how good they were......first off this family member has a brain aneurysm and was experiencing excruciating pain in her head, neck, and shoulder. In triage the nurse only wrote shoulder pain even after having it explained twice that it’s not just the shoulder then we were there for 6 hours and never got seen. Yes I know ERs can be extremely busy and I know the most critical go first. I'm a nurse so I get it completely. I also know that there were TWO different times the ER was cleared out except for us and most that had once filled that room had been discharged. I also know that a person with a brain aneurysm that's having excruciating pain in the head, neck, and shoulder should be a top priority over someone who's sitting in a chair laughing and cutting up having a good ol time cause she sprain her ankle. I also look in triage and see several nurses, 2 in triage and 3 of the nurses working in the back are all in a room dancing and having a party. I am so disappointed and disgusted with St. John's. I will never tell someone they should go there and I will never bring another family member here. It was the worst hospital experience I've ever had. This ER was absolutely horrible. I'm only giving this one star because I can't submit this without it just to clarify.
St. John used to be a great hospital. After my grandpa was taken to the ER I can say that they have really gone downhill. Every nurse we dealt with in the ER was lazy and rude. At one point my grandpa had to urinate. He is 90 years old, clinically blind and couldn't get out of bed. After giving the staff 10 minutes after pressing the call light, I finally went out to ask for help. The first nurse I saw told me it was not her patient but that there should be a urinal on the side of his bed. There wasn't. As I left his room the same nurse saw me and realizing there wasn't a urinal, she simply handed me the urinal and walked away. Like I said, my grandpa is blind. He was not comfortable having his granddaughter help him use the urinal. I then walked down to his actual nurses station. The two nurses there looked at me, but continued their non-work related conversation. Finally I said "excuse me" and explained the situation. Neither one of them moved, just looked at me. It took me saying "my grandpa needs help using the urinal, if you dont want to help him I guess I will just go tell him to piss in the bed or on the floor" before one then moved to come help. If they would have been busy I would have been much more understanding. We were treated like a burden from the time we got there until he was finally (hours later) admitted and moved upstairs. There was zero compassion from any of the nurses. St. John used to be my family's hospital of choice, we are now taking our business elsewhere.
I have always had wonderful treatment until my husband and I came in because he was dizzy. The nurse blew his vein, ok, then came back and said his RBC split because it happens after she flushed the blown vein and his arm swelled. The other nurse as we waited 5 hours and witnessed her be very inconsiderate to an 80 year old woman who needed oxygen, yes she needed to keep her calm, but in no way needed to speak to her in such a demeaning way, get smart with multiple other patients including my husband when he asked where he was on the list, because three hours before they said we were coming up, she replied with he was lying. I get it, I get having a bad day, and Alot of sick and scared people, I'm actually halfway finished with nursing dvhsch, but this young lady who is smaking her gum while having no sympathy or tact needs to go back to ethic school. St John's ER, September 15th, 2018. I used to recommend this hospital especially since our insurance allows us to go here or St. Francis..we will be making the extra trip to a hospital that actually cares about their patiences.
