This place brought back so many great memories of my childhood. The food was amazing. The root beer served in a frosted mug (with complimentary refills poured by a server!) out of this world and the drive in vibe and table service were spot on.
I was so accustomed to being a "sheep" that I didn't know quite what to do... You find a comfy spot indoors or out, someone comes over to take your order and within no time, your food magically appears.
I wanted to try the drive in portion but was in a hurry. I most definitely will next time I'm in town.

If you're looking for a fun little place to eat out, come take a step back in time to this A&W's 70's theme atmosphere restaurant in Faribault, MN. They offer drive-thru and dine in options. They have a variety of diner style burger choices. The must-have is their signature floats with their daily house made root beer!
Food easily good. We sat in the car it was a nice night. The down fall was we had to go into the restaurant to get refills on root beer which was weird but the guy out to our yo tell us we need to come inside and then they had come and get to tray.
I had never been to this A&W location before, so I didn't know if you ordered at the counter or sat down first and got waited on. I asked the A&W employee behind the counter and she said that I could take a seat and she would take my order. She wasn't very friendly, but I was like, whatever.
It wasn't very busy at the restaurant, but she took her sweet time to come over to my table. I decided to order a Coney Dog meal deal. I didn't want the chili or onions on the hot dog, just cheese. She confirmed my special order and then I waited for my food. The root beer and the chocolate shake that arrived were great! However, my fries weren't hot enough, but I ate them anyway. When I opened up the styrofoam container for my cheese dog, it was covered in onions! If it were a regular hot dog, I would have just brushed them off. But I couldn't do that with this one because the onions were mixed in with the cheese.
So I took the container up to the counter and placed it there and said that I got onions on the cheese dog and I didn't order onions. I told them I wanted a replacement cheese dog. By "them" I'm referring to my waitress, and the guy who brought the food to my table. The guy said nothing, and neither did the waitress, who just glared at me. I think she was upset that I interrupted her gab fest with her fellow waitress.
I returned to my table and waited quite a while for the new cheese dog. When the waitress finally arrived with the cheese dog, she practically threw it at me! No kidding, the container slid across the table. She very snottily said, "Here you go - ENJOY!" I was expecting an apology for the messed up order, but I didn't receive one. There were no apologies at any time from any of the staff. I was also left wondering why the waitress was mad at ME? I didn't do anything wrong. I had very calmly stated that there was a mistake with my order, and I didn't give them any attitude.
I decided that the waitress didn't deserve a tip - I will NOT tolerate that kind of rude behavior! I gave the cashier a note with my bill (see photo). This waitress and other staff need to learn how to treat people with respect!
If I ever return to this A&W, I will just order through the drive thru. And I'll only order beverages because the food isn't very good.
Moved to this area from out of state. This is the 1st authentic A&W we have seen since the 1970's (which we were told this restaurant was built in) Indoor seating with drive-in, original tasting Root beer in real glass A&W mugs as it was when we were kids. The best family restaurant in the area, that we have experienced. Great food, great atmosphere & great staff. Thanks for a great flash back experience. We felt like we took a trip back in time. Thanks; we will be back.
Delicious food and root beer that takes me back to my childhood. Excellent service and clean, bright dining room. Can't wait to come back!
This is actually we are being inside of the building. And my husband he very enjoys his bacon double cheese burger he loves it very much and also the lady she was very nice comes and refills the root beer for us we are truly appreciate it
