This was me and my husbands favorite restaurant we went to while on our trip. The food was phenomenal, I have to recommend the fried green tomatoes. The outdoor seating with live music was also so amazing. The service was a 15/10. We will be going here again on our next trip!
We had a fantastic lunch at the Backyard. From the moment Paul took us out to a table, answering our questions and chatting about many things, concluding with chef Steve seeking our honest input about the dishes, we had a great time.
We ordered two appetizers: She Crab soup and the May River Blue Crab Dip. Both were fantastic but the soup was the best I've had in decades. The grilled flatbread was better than the tortillas with the crab dip. I imagine you could request only the flatbread if you wanted.
For entrees we had the shrimp & grits and the shrimp and wild mushroom cobbler. Both were really good. I had a suggestion about the cobbler and chef Steve took it into immediate consideration. That was amazing!
Unfortunately we were too full to try desert, nor was I able to try the raspberry lemonade moonshine... But they are definitely on my list for our next visit.
I highly recommend you give the Backyard a try. Maybe I'll see you there!
This is a quaint, delicious place to have lunch. We were there just before noon and didn’t have to wait at all. We had the shrimp burgers - delicious! The macaroni and cheese was creamy and yummy. We finished our lunch with a sweet taste of banana pudding!
Had an amazing experience. The green tomato stack appetizer was amazing, along with the shrimp and grits! The crabcake sandwich and apple n raisin cole slaw was delicious!! Highly recommend coming here!!
We sat outside with live music. It was July and over 100 degrees, but there was plenty of shade and fans circulating the air. I had the shrimp and grits (what they are known for) and it was by the best shrimp I’ve ever had. The seasoning on the shrimp was so good! We got there at 4:50pm and by the time we left there at 5:40pm was a long wait to get into the restaurant. Make sure to get there early!
Saw a lot of good reviews about this place and I was super excited to go try it. I feel like I came into this restaurant with high expectations and I was just a little disappointed when it didn’t meet them. Everyone was talking about the seafood Purloo online and my fish was very rubbery and the rice had way too much tomato paste. Overall, the flavor of the dishes were very good and the shrimp and grits are worth trying here. The lobster bisque didn’t really taste like lobster and had an excessive amount of heavy cream. The desert however, was amazing . The banana pudding was sweet, creamy, and a great texture. The ambience of the place was very nice and they did have live music. The outside dining area is a little tight, but overall was a good experience.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service!! Best shrimp and grits EVER!!! Moonshine flight was great, too. Tomato sandwich w pimento was perfection as well as the homemade key lime pie!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! The shrimp and grits my husband got were hands down, the. best. ever. The Mahi Mahi special tonight was also delicious, topped off with a refreshing blackberry lemonade moonshine. Definitely worth the trip for a meal!
