Great place for more than a meal. Your eyes will be entertained with all the antiques & stuffed full-sized animals, etc to see. The bartender was very friendly and the Root beer ice cream float suggestion did not disappoint!
This is an attraction in and of itself, all the reviews here are correct the portion is the LARGEST I have tried at any restuarant. Best part is that it's also really tasty. ????
with each entree you get
1) cowboy stew with plenty of meat and beans- would gladly pay for this I can't believe its included
2) large salad ( not a small one) - dressings are good
3) Huge Meat entrees- if you want to be extra surprised try the full rack of beef ribs- it was single biggest plate of food I have ever recieved in my life -
4) side of potatoes and rice and garlic bread
5) choice of root beer float/ sunday/ liquer
6) excellent service and yes everything I mentioned is ALL INCLUDED with your entree

A J Spurs is a hidden Gem in Buellton! If you want meat on your plate this is the place to go. You can order over 30oz of stake cooked the way you like it. There was 5 of us guys and its no joke the size of the steaks they brought out to us. Each plate comes with rice pilaf, garlic bread and a large side salad. Refillable drinks non adult and adult type. You also receive a cast iron pot full of cowboy stew with black beans and salsa on the side. Plus a cast iron pan with sliced potatos to share with everyone. I had a full rack of BBQ pork ribs that the meat was just falling off. Hadn't eaten all day in anticipation of eating here and still took half my ribs home. All of us took something home. Then go to find out you get three choices of a dessert with your meal. I had the root beer float and was able to squeeze it in. The waitress was a joy. She joked with us and even anticipated us needing refills etc before we even asked. The building is all atmosphere being made from logs with a high pitched ceiling. When you pull into their parking lot you can't miss a red stagecoach on the roof with A J Spurs on it. They have all kinds of old west style items on the walls but the main attraction is all the real stuffed animals. They are placed so well in and on the building it's as if they were all a live again. They even have a polar bear. There is plenty of seats for big parties but it does get busy during weekends and peak hours like you would expect. The price was up there but honestly for the quality of the meat and all that you get it's just a price of a really good meal. They do have a large bar area to fill your adult needs which is on the North side of the building completely separated from the dinning room. I recommend to anyone who visits me A J Spurs for a great meal and relaxing atmosphere.
A unique central coast tradition for me. Been coming here for 30 years, and the food, service, and atmosphere are consistently great. Make a reservation! You can't go away hungry. We had the ribeye and a chicken plate. Comes with the standard salad, beef stew and table potato slices. Everything is great. Also had the complimentary root beer float at the end.
There serving is really big they serve a complementary soup from the start we love it and the salsa is amazing then their serving is huge with salad, rice and bread you can also tag along which the person with you get the same side except the main course you need to split the food is good and it’s amazing place if your not into stuff animals I would recommend I never get to take photo of the photo but pretty much their food is good and the service
Very very nice steak house. The food was super good and the atmosphere was really nice. The portions were really huge so come hungry.
The atmosphere was fun with an old west vibe! We shared the rib combo and both the beef and pork ribs were delicious! The best thing though was the stew/beans/salsa combo as soon as we sat down! I could have just eaten a few bowls of that and been happy! The server was friendly and helpful! All around, a great time and a great meal! We can't wait to go back! ????
Before you get your main course, they bring out beans, soup, and salsa. With your meal, they give you a salad, potatoes, and garlic bread. After your meal you recieve a rootbeer float or adult alternative. This is all built in, all you do is choose your main course. Great experience!
