We had a blast. Quirky and fun spot for a drink or meal on the water. For the money it's a little rough around the edges, but the staff is super friendly and on point. Lots of parking down the street. Good selection of drinks.
Good stuff first. What a great location, overlooking the marsh and river. We were really happy to sit outside near the water. It is a great atmosphere.
The drinks were great. The service was good, staff was friendly.
However… the prices for this place were really high, especially for the quality of the food. $25 for Alfredo!!! $36 for the Scallops meal. Granted, you get a lot of scallops, but I asked for grilled and I might have gotten blackened. They had soooooo much pepper on them, it lit my mouth on fire.
The asparagus was overcooked and also peppered to death.
The kids enjoyed the Alfredo, and my partner liked his fried seafood platter.
The facility itself is old and a bit run down. It’s perfect for a beach atmosphere, but doesn’t really match the price tags on the menu…
We had a nice evening, but it’s probably not a place we’ll go back to.
What a place! We had a great time and experience here. Ashton was our waitress, and she did an amazing job taking care of us. The only reason food didn't get a 5 was because of the selection of fresh catch which I thought would have been better considering the location on the water and all but the food that was offered was really good and I have no complaints. Drink selection was really amazing and far surpassed my expectations. Price is comparable with other restaurants in the area, so again, no problem there. I will be coming a lot more often now that I know this place. Since I'm a local, this place is one of my top picks and go-to places. Great job to everyone at AJ's. You have created a really great place for everyone to come to.
My husband and I think this place has the best snow crab legs of the Tybee/Savannah area! We have visited several times over the years and tried crab legs at other places (we just really love them and at the beach, it’s all we crave haha). Some places, you can tell the crab legs were cooked earlier and perhaps reheated, or maybe even frozen and it comes through in the flavor. At A-J’s it really tastes like it was brought in fresh that morning with the sweet/soft texture you want. On our most recent visit we overhead another table complain about the time it took for the food to arrive, and that their dishes were warm but not “hot.” Not sure what they got, so maybe that was a fair complaint, but look - it’s the beach! You’re sitting outside on a dock, it’s low key, so relax. And if it’s summer, it’s like 100 degrees so everything will seem less hot when you’re baking in the sun, lol. One tip for visitors, A-J’s is kind of on a “back corner” area of the island so don’t plan to drive there (very little parking). It’s definitely walkable or do the bike rental to make traversing the island super easy.
Visited here on a recommendation. Made a reservation but still had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seated. The sunset view was beautiful. The food was mediocre, the fish in my sandwich was good, but the rest of the sandwich was pretty forgettable (I guess for a seafood place this is probably ok) and the fries were very good. Drink was nice too. My waitress was fantastic, very attentive and polite. Overall I think it's a good place just don't expect it to be the best place you've ever eaten!
Had a great diner and enjoyed it out on the deck, beautiful sunset and after. Live music by a single guitar musician with a nice mix of classic rock and country caused us to stay for another round before heading back to our RV for the night!
One of the best meals we had while on Tybee Island. Definitely make a reservation if you want to go for sunset (you should definitely go for sunset). The food was so delicious and Jessica, our server was fantastic. We had seafood lovers, children, and vegetarians in our group. Everyone loved their meal.
Great atmosphere and views except, and they don't control this, but we went on an exceptionally hot night and there were not enough fans. I actually had to leave and grab a portable fan from our place because our infant was bright red from the heat( we were at the covered but outdoor area). But I will say the server was amazing and attentive, food was perfect, and bar drinks really really good. My third time to AJs, and I will always recommend to others.
