Not the best but will get the job done! Overpriced for the portion sizes they offer. I ordered the large cassava leaf and rice which ended up being a large rice with cassava leaf. And was that palm butter flavor. Overall, not the worst, but just disappointing
I ordered shrimp egusi and fufu. The flavor is not bad..it’s edible but I feel like I’m eating a bowl of spinach. I’m eating flavored spinach. I’ve had egusi plenty of times from other places and I feel like I’m questioning if I ordered the right thing. If this is how they make egusi then I’m sorry maybe they should take it off the menu. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I came within the 15 mins I was told. I still had to wait once I got there, but I didn’t have to wait long For my takeout order. The lady greeted me when I came in. She was nice.
Worst Jamaican food ever, My overall experience here was subpar to say the least. The customer service was HORRIBLE, Communication was very rude I asked to see how the macaroni looked or tasted before purchasing, and I was basically ignored and given an attitude. I ordered Jerk Chicken, rice and peas, and collard greens. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE LEAVING. As you can see my jerk chicken is the side dish and the rice is the main, 3 small bony meatless pieces of chicken! I ordered a HOMEMADE LEMONADE, and confirmed that it was just that. NO! WATERED DOWN MINUTE MAID. I asked for corn bread and was directed to grab a piece that was sitting on a rack at the checkout desk, it was ROCK HARD, when I let staff know- MORE ATTITUDE! I spent $54 here, you’re welcome A&H because at this point it’s donation. I couldn’t bare to go back and request a refund with the vibe and attitude of that place. SHUT IT DOWN.
Food use to be amazing. I would treat myself to their food. I was disappointed a few months ago and today I tried again. Ordered Jerk chicken. Absolutely 0 seasoning. It was baked chicken with the oil seasoning from the drippings. 0 seasoning, 0 jerk seasoning, 0 Sauce. I even asked if the cabbage was soft today. 0 seasoning n I guess a quick boil. Rice was fine and I got 1 plantain cut in half.
Planned to eat inside but it was too hot.
They must have a new cool who was not taught how to prepare the food or their about to close and don't care. Last time I'll spend my lil coins.
Be prepared to take a photo of the menu. They need to have a QR code for it. They can put a little more tlc in their packaging. I had to add salt and pepper to mine. Just got the Mac n cheese with cabbage, came to $13 I gave her $15 just to stay on code. But (intoxicated) men hanging outside is not a good look. I’d gladly go to Philly to the 5 star places.
This place taught me a valuable lesson. Always check your food before leaving the establishment. Had I checked before I left, I would have asked for my money back. Worse part, I don't live in the area, but had a taste for this dish. I thought I asked for Curry Goat, but as you see I bought a platter full of rice! They gave me four lil pieces of goat meat which was like chewing bubble gum. They'll never see me again. You're welcome for the donation, A&H!!
TERRIBLE DO NOT GO HERE!!! Food is terrible portions TERRIBLE WORST PLACE IVE EVER BEEN AND THE TRASH WAS 70+$ I’m mad!
All I can say is thank you so much! As someone with a diverse African background, it’s hard to find a restaurant that serves all three of my cultural dishes. The service is amazing and the food always hits the spot and leaves me satisfied! I hope to see suya on the menu soon but I will continue to buy my beef kebab until then.
