We went to get fish. Heard they have a Katla(Bengali name) but we were unfortunate. Reasonable price for fishes. It’s a Chinese shops and most of the people working in the shop doesn’t understand English well. Average experience. You can have vegetables and other household items too. Pretty big shop.
A Dong Asian Supermarket is a fascinating and massive store that is a haven for lovers of Asian cuisine. If you're confident in your cooking skills and don't need any hand-holding while shopping, this place is perfect for you. The variety of produce, sauces, noodles, ramen, sweets, cookware, and more is impressive, and the prices won't leave you feeling like you just sold a kidney. The store is decently organized and clean, so you won't have to wade through piles of discarded packaging to find what you need. However, don't expect any frills or pleasantries from the staff - they're not exactly falling over themselves to assist you. But if you're just looking to grab some quality Asian staples and get on with your day, A Dong Asian Supermarket is definitely worth a visit.
We always find something we want in addition to getting everything we need. This is probably the best stocked Asian market we have been to in Connecticut, and we happily drive about an hour each way to come and buy the groceries we can’t find in other grocery stores. The staff will help you find what you are looking for if you don’t know where it is, but it’s pretty well organized.
Good Asian grocery store, very large and well stocked for a place of its type in New England. Highlights include the deli (pork, duck, and chicken), local stuffed buns (very meaty) and the fish/veggies. I have not found an equivalent in New England, even Boston's China town can't compete (that I know of). Highly recommend.
A Dong is not H Mart, but pretty good. It could be cleaner. It is owned by a Vietnamese business woman. I can find items I cannot find anywhere else: Durian, fresh Kim Chi that has not been on the shelf for a month ( they sell a lot, so there is a fast turnover), and not canned bamboo. Roasted pork and duck on Saturday mornings are freshly out of the oven; Duck skin is crisp and tastes like Peking duck. Boxes are in the hallway for you to take your grocery.
Adong is good for a lot of Asian products that you can't get elsewhere. However, produce is not always the freshest and for some items you can get them more fresh and less expensive at an American grocery store. It would be nice e to see them up their cleanliness and appearance. They rely on being the only game in town.
Great place, but very dirty. Don't ask for help from the workers because they aren't able to speak any English. We had a few questions but weren't able to get the answers we needed. Not a big deal because we managed anyway. Overall we will be back because there's a lot of great items you can't get elsewhere.
First time there and was VERY IMPRESSIVE. If your first time please make sure you have plenty of time. My husband and I went today and ww were there for over 2 hours just looking around exploring this place. Friendly staff and the owner Fong is a sweetheart.. Will for sure be a supermarket we will shop at…this isle is ALL TEA AND TREATS TO EAT WITH YOUR TEA! YOU NEED TO STOP BY!!!
