Best WLM Reviews

It was my first real concert and I had a great experience! The venue is intimate but well laid out. The staff is all incredibly friendly. It was intense being at the edge of the mosh pit as a small female but the pit crew did an excellent job making me feel safe and keeping the crowd in check. Bartenders were attentive and efficient and they always had lots of cold water available. 10/10.
Fabulous experience as always a patron of this venue for 17 years. What can I say about this iconic place that hasn't been said. If you can manage it, make it out to this mecca of music. Fabulous Beer selection and four bars. One of the only reasons to go to DC.
It’s a long story how I ended up with tickets to a Princess Goes concert but seeing them at the 9:30 Club was pretty great. A band named Turbo Goth opened for them. The venue is incredibly nondescript from the outside. Signage is very limited. Inside, though, is a great concert venue. Between the main floor and balcony, it’s impossible to get a bad seat. The drinks and food were reasonably priced for the setting. Would definitely be back for the right band.
Love this venue for concerts. I'm short so being able to stand up a level or two on the balcony railing gives a perfect view rather than fighting crowds on the floor. The sound is fantastic, there's plenty of bars and the staff was great!
Saw White Ford Bronco, awesome show except for the guy who stopped the show when he forgot song lyrics *twice* for the same song/verse. Otherwise, awesome venue. Bars upstairs and down, recyclable cups, plenty air condition for larger crowds, good views no matter where you stand. I think I saw food options(?) but we didn’t get into any of that. Late nights Andy’s is always the way.
Went to a Jazmin Bean concert here! I really appreciate that they're bringing alternative artists and encourage having a fun and moderately priced third place to go! The bar staff was really friendly and doors opened right when they said it would. Very organized although I wish I could've found out more about what we could wear/bring before hand or I would've brought a small bag and worn a different necklace(no biggie just would've been good to know :) )
As a veteran of the 9:30 Club since 1981-82, it's truly impressive to see how they've shaped the music scene in DC over these last 44 years. I've seen perhaps hundreds of shows at 9:30 and I.M.P. venues over the years. Building a brand organically through I.M.P. managing a variety of great venues, not incidiously trying to take over the world like LiveNation. Their crown jewel, The Anthem, is a more than adequate revenge for the backhand deal that resulted in Fillmore Silver Spring, but that's another story.
It's sorta funny to hear people wax nostalgic about the 'old 9:30 Club', which was a truly dungeonous, smelly, smoky cavern, in what was a no man's land of post-1969-riots DC, where we'd bounce between 9:30 and DC Space to see what would become iconic bands from the early days of new wave, punk & hardcore, surf, funk, Go Go, jazz, blues, LGBT, country, rockabilly, folk, novelty and anything experimental happening at the time. But, its grungy character was pretty well covered in the 9:30 Book, if you're lucky enough to find one (please re-publish it). The fact that even some of the biggest names will do surprise shows at the 9:30 is a testament to its legendary status. It still feels a bit like an extended family that manages and staffs their venues. The same cannot be said about the aforementioned promoter, whose venues I attend VERY sparingly (sorry, u can't talk about 9:30 history w/o a dig at LiveNation). Where else could you have seen Tony Bennett one night and Fugazi the next?
Nice small venue. I’ve always enjoyed the smaller venues as you get a more memorable night. Would definitely come back to this venue.
